Torchwood introduces the story of Gwen, a police officer in Cardiff, Wales. Her life is changed when, investigating a murder, she notices a mysterious group bring the victim back to life to ask who killed him. Gwen follows the group and discovers more than she could imagine. The mysterious group led by Captain Jack Harkness is called Torchwood. They investigate all things extraterrestrial or supernatural. The team initially tries to get rid of Gwen, but to no avail. For the rest of the season, Gwen works to know more and adds a sense of humanity to the group. The writing is imaginative and mixes together relationship drama and science fiction elements well. The plot reaches beyond typical boundaries to create a world like no other.

If you haven't seen Torchwood before, it's a Doctor Who spinoff written by the same guy who wrote the 9th and 10th Doctors. This season might run around DW S2-3 (since S2 introduced the Torchwood Institute). It's was written to be an adult, late-night show with Jack Harkness + other smart people hunting down aliens. What I mean by "adult" is that, unlike the family show Doctor Who, it has explicit scenes. I watched this show because I wanted to learn more about Jack Harkness. We get Jack, some characters with bad moral decisions, and some consequences of Doomsday. I'll be honest, the main girl (Gwen) made some decisions this season that made me not like her until I got to Season 2. This season had some interesting episodes and is probably the reason why I cried over some of the characters in the next season. It's a good foundational season, and it's worth it if you're planning to watch the following seasons. Otherwise, skip this and go straight to Season 2.

Torchwood is a spin-off of Doctor Who, featuring Jack Harkness from season 1 of the revival series. This shows what happened to everyone's favorite Captain after the finale and delves into the inner-workings of the Torchwood organization. Anyone who loves Doctor Who, sci-fi, or just awesome tv shows will love this!

What can you say, if you know Captain Jack, and wanted to see more of him after Doctor Who, this is the droid you are looking for! (New Star Wars was just hit the theatres) Great premise, great characters, great enthusiasm, good romp-in-the-TV!

As a lifelong fan of the Who-verse it has been a great ride seeing the rejuvenation of Dr Who and better the expansion of its universe with Captain Jack. One of the best sci-fi characters to come along in years and definitely a great addition to any sci-fi fans collection.

Some of the characters are very interesting, while others seemed underdeveloped (somewhat odd for British Television). Stories are well written and imaginative. As with most British TV Seasons, the number of episodes is limited. If you enjoy science fiction with a twist of action and drama, try this show out.

I've been a fan of Dr. Who and then Torchwood for years so it was nice to pick up the Blu Ray and watch it when even I felt like it. Season one is my favorite but the whole series was great.

If you've seen Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who, then you already know how awesome a show based around him would be. If you haven't seen him, then go see him. Then watch Torchwood.

I watched the show on BBC America and was happy to see the 1rst season for such a low price at the local Best Buy. Have seen this for a much higher price at other locations.

Capt. Jack Harkness is back in the 21st century protecting earth from any and all invaders .Plenty of extras, deleted scenes and a great price.

Torchwood is an excellent example of how to take a great character and make him even better with his own series. Captain Jack at his best!

The Complete first season of a well respected series Great price and introduction to characters who are also present in the Dr Who series.

Good basics to the story. Lots of behind the scenes extras. Good to watch all season without commercial interruptions.

Torchwood is like the British version of X-Files. It's a spinoff of Doctor Who..The cast & the storylines are amazing.
