I was looking to update my nearly 6 year old laptop but was on a budget. I'm not a power user, so this laptop was perfect as I wanted a 2-in-1 with a smaller size. I had my eye on another unit with I7 processor but it was $1000 more. After reading reviews and searching, I decided this unit with I3 processor would be fine. And it was on sale too. I also purchased an LG Optical USB Drive, MS Office 365 and Geek Squad Support. The Geek Squad was extremely helpful in my transition from Win7 to Win10 and from Office 2010 to Office 365..
I had space requirements to fit my desk and yet still see my TV. So I bought a metal stand and an external monitor. If you look at my photos, you can see my layout with metal stand, external monitor, USB keyboard/mouse and LG DVD USB drive.
The performance and screen clarity are amazing. It is fairly lightweight as portability around the house was important to me. Battery life is very good. The wireless works very well and I have had no problems with it or anything else. I did buy a wired Ethernet-to-USB3.0 adapter and it works very well for downloading larger files.
Overall I am extremely pleased!

This laptop is made from high quality parts, from the feel of the keyboard to the metal cover that surrounds the machine. The touchscreen is very responsive, when you fold the laptop all the way it will ask you do you want to use tablet configuration. Start up times are below 30 seconds. Battery life is outstanding, at 7 hours plus. The fit and finish is second to none.

I bought this Toshiba - Satellite Radius 2-in-1 14 Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 6GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Brushed Black/Brushed Metal for my son birthday. Since he had Surface Ii. He like to use the Toshiba than surface because its really fast big storage. The screen much better than 10 inches surface. My son use it lot either school and at home.

Thank you for the review, Setu, and sorry to hear that you seem to be experiencing some sort of performance issue with your Satellite E45W-C4200X.
It's possible that Windows Update has been busy downloading & installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is completed.
Regarding the touchpad clicking issue, I recommend checking Advanced Properties settings of the Windows Control Panel's 'Mouse' applet to make sure it is configured to your preferences. Here are the steps:
1. Go to Control Panel 2. Change View to Icons 3. Select Mouse 4. Go to Device Settings Tab
From here I recommend reviewing all of the available options to make sure features that you want are enabled and configured to match your preferences, and that features that you don't want are disabled.
Should you need further assistance, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Not so fast.......unless you install a SSD.

After reading the reviews I wasn't so sure about this but! Glad and very happy I bought it.
It's a good laptop out of the box, but not fast enough for me and image quality is good, it's 720p capable and excellent for online video/movie streaming.
K, first thing I did was create a recovery flash drive, then clone the original drive onto a SSD drive, which is so much faster, and swap drives, Windows now boots in 30 secs., I would guess. The speed for the SSD are almost maxed out, 558.5MB/s Read and 541.4MB/s Write for SATA6 whereas the original 500GB is only a SATA3, HUGE DIFFERENCE.
2nd thing I did was to install Classic Shell, so that I could access ALL programs and make it look like Win7, now everything is easily accessible.
Uninstall ALL unnecessary programs which were very few and install my own software.
Sound is amazing, I have tweaked the sound using the Equalizer and the speakers are nicely positioned, in front of the screen at the bottom and they're loud enough for me. As for the image quality, the contrast and text can be adjusted using Windows own/built in feature but I didn't want to mess with it, right now the laptop is just perfect for my needs and the $379.99 I paid for, makes it even better.
Yes, I recommend this laptop BUT! Do yourself a favor and buy a SSD drive and install it yourself if you know how to or have the Squad do it for you, it's worth it and you'll definitely see a night and day difference in speed. Plus you'll no longer have to hear a hard drive spin. But keep the original for back up.
The only CON is the size of the keys, they're a bit small but I'm getting used to them and make less mistakes when typing, specially this review. Other than that? Nothing, it's perfect for basic needs and will last for years.

I purchased this laptop for grad school- initially I was looking at chromebooks but needed a windows systems for advanced excel function. So far I've been pleased with the performance- battery life on a full charge is about 6-8 hours depending on what you're doing, the processing speed and start up times are excellent and the ability to open it 360 degrees to utilize it as a laptop, tablet and everything in between provides incredible functionality. The machine is easy to use, and having the touch screen helps make up for a track pad that can be a little sensative even after changing the settings. It's a great laptop/tablet for students, professionals, or people simply surfing the web. It's lightweight, but extremely well made and stylish. I would give it 5 stars, except the manager at best buy gave me the wrong model when we checked out. I wanted the model with and explicitly asked for the back-lit keyboard, and when she pulled ithe from the back assured me it was the right one. After trying to figure out how to turn on that feature for 2 weeks, I realized the machine she gave me didn't have that feature. I showed her the ad on my phone and she assured me they had it. After she returned from the back with the box, and also as we checked out, I asked if it was the backlit model and she confirmed it was. I can't really fault the machine- it's gone beyond my expectations in every way... except not having a backlit keyboard.

This computer exceeded my expectations. The touch screen is great and the features of Windows 10 definitely make it worth wild. The only problems I've had is the mouse glitched a few times in Word... But has only happened a few times in the beginning stages of me using my computer. And also, I have trouble accessing the features of the top row of the keyboard sometimes. Might've been something I did though.. This computer would be better with a backlit keyboard. Perfect size, and perfect for my first year in college. Battery life is awesome!! about 7-10 hours! Very happy with my purchase!

I have had this computer for maybe a month now, and so far I can say that I am enjoying it. I was worried because I had heard bad reviews about Toshiba hardware but I am currently liking the touchscreen and keyboard feel, and of course the windows 10 is a very good addition. I would recommend this notebook to students such as myself who like a fast computer with a lot of space at a decent price.

I love Toshiba products. This is my second Toshiba laptop but perhaps a bit disappointing. I purchased this computer because I wanted a lightweight touch screen computer (not a table) to edit photos, write notes, check email and for browsing. The computer is sleek and attractively designed. A real good-looker. Has a lovely screen, with tru-brite display but not good in bright light or sunlight as it reflects the light too much, making it hard to see what's on the screen. The touch screen is responsive. Has good sound. Somehow it does not show the full website and is almost like it wants to shuttle between being a mobile version of the site and the full version of the site. It is for that reason that I did not want a tablet. It is frustrating when it gets hard to navigate the side bars or to read a full email with scrolling horizontally. The processor is under powered and slow and I wish that I had invested a bit more money in something with a faster processor. It takes time to switch between programs and sometimes the wifi signal gets lost. This may however be a driver problem. It updated last night so this may have improved.

this touch screen laptop is AWESOME! great functionality, very light weight, not bulky and annoying. it functions as a tablet as well so you can bend the keyboard all the way back along with being able to put it in tablet mode. has bluetooth and SO many more functions, I was very impressed! came with windows 10 and its actually extremely easy to use. I haven't tried gaming as that's not what I bought this laptop for but word processing is perfect! I also am addicted to Vudu and Netflix so I watch my movies on my laptop and they have excellent quality! Love this laptop!

I got this computer on sale. Great price. I love the built in Cortana speaker. I really like windows 10 over windows 8.1. Runs fast. I also like the volume button on the side. Quality metal cover over plastic.

I got more than I expected for the price. The touchscreen option is nice, especially for kids games and such. The storage is adequate. I found the keyboard a bit difficult/annoying at first, since it isnt like a dektop keyboard and keys are a bit shallow. But it just takes getting used to, once I did it was pretty easy. Overall I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to spend 900 plus on the nicer models. I mostly use it for school and it's more than enough

I have had this laptop for about 2 1/2 months now. I needed something low-budget, and light to take with me to school. I don't just use my computer for light internet browsing and internet. I also use it for editing videos in CyberLink and photos in Photoshop and LightRoom, as well as occasionally playing a game or two. A few programs can be opened simultaneously without lagging. It is light to carry around, fast, and efficient. The battery life lasts several hours and takes about 2 hours to charge up again, which is awesome. The speakers are amazing, loud and crystal clear. The tablet feature is pretty neat, although I don't really use it as much as I guess I thought I might. But having the option to is nice.
The only problem I've had is that the keyboard backlight does not turn on and I've tried installing the Function driver, but it didn't help. Also the earphone port is weird, in that the earphone don't push in all the way and sometimes I have to twist it around a few times to make the sound comes through the earphones instead of the speakers. The screen also has more glare than I'd like, so a bit annoying when I'm in a bright area, but overall not too bad.
All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and it was worth the money!!

I bought this item for my consulting job and only needed it for email, Excel, Word, and Power Point. The touch screen was a plus but not a necessity. I just wanted something inexpensive because I can't afford a Mac Air. I also didn't need a lot of memory because I subscribe to drop box and I'm not a gamer or do any streaming. So the speed is good. Battery life is also good for what I do via Office. It's not preloaded with Microsoft Office so I brought a yearly subscription to Office 365 that' works great for me. The only thing I don't like is that I think it's very heavy to lug around compared to other devices like the Surface Pro, etc. which I could not afford either! So if you want something light this is not for you. I think I will eventually leave this one at home once I can get a lightweight device that does the same thing as this Toshiba.
