This works great for my tivo and older xbox 360. Streams movies from my router and modem upstairs to my tivo that is downstairs. They are on seperate breakers, but I still get very fast speeds that all the streams are in full 1080p HD when available from the source. My xbox never has connection issues while playing online. There is a slightly higher lag compared to the less than 24 milisec I get when directly connected to my router, but nothing that a casual gamer would notice. Very satisfied with this simple plug and play product. I actually have 2 sets. The original plugs into the router and the other 3 are in different rooms connected to different devices.

Best Gigabit Ethernet port... I used my old Linksys EA4500 as a Bridge in third floor. Now I'm getting more than 60 Mbps in area that was a dead spot.

I really wanted this to work for networking 2 computers together on opposite sides of the house. When I first got this, I tried different outlets and could get throughput of only 20 megaBITS /second. After messing with it and trying different outlets through the house, I was able to get 60 - 80 mbps but that would require running some line just to get to better outlets. If I could have got to 100 mbps I probably would have been happy enough to keep these adapters, but it just wasn't fast enough for what I wanted to do with them. It is well understood do not get anywhere near the advertised gigabit claim unless in a lab with perfect conditions, but less than 10 percent of advertised just wasn't enough for my needs for large file transfers and remote file access across a network. Some people say they were able to get speeds much higher than I was able in their homes (like 200 to 300 mbps) which would have been perfect. However, these would be great for connecting computers to for internet or stream video to a home entertainment set-up. I wish I found these before I ran Ethernet to my home entertainment center for video streaming as the speeds would have worked for that flawlessly. I would give these a try and rely on Best Buy's excellent return policy if they don't meet your needs. Home networking might be iffy, but internet connectivity and streaming will probably work for most people. If it worked just a little better in my home, it would have saved me a lot of headache and time running Ethernet cables.

This works perfectly, and is exactly what I was looking for. I had a dvd player that had access to the internet, but my router was in the bottom floor of a town house. Pretty much, plug and play and the internet is plenty fast enough to stream netflix with no lag!

So I purchased these to add internet to the area above the Kitchen cabinets where my Hue and Wink would be centered to the house. When the product arrived I was shocked by the size. These things are Huge. Not only are they big but the size around the plugs render the other outlet your using useless. Could never get them to work in the area I purchased them for, i had to keep moving these things around to find a place where they would work. I can't tell anyone about the speed because I could never get them to work in an area where I needed a internet connection. I will not buy any more.

      Dear iam4in,

Thank you for taking the time to review our product in addition to your honest feedback.

We appreciate your comments regarding the physical size of these devices and definitely agree they are a little excessive but considering we have four new Powerline models to be released soon, we can only hope the physical dimensions have been modified or rather allow room for the second power receptacle to be used.

We're sorry to hear you had experienced some difficulty with pairing the Powerline adapters at several different locations within your home.

Please keep in mind the Powerline Adapters should be connected on the same main electrical circuit in order to ensure functional Powerline Network communication. This means that as long as the electrical outlets being occupied by the Powerline Adapters lead back to the same circuit panel (where the circuit breakers are connected), communication should be possible.

Please also ensure that the Powerline Adapters are plugged directly into wall sockets, not power strips or surge protectors.

If you have any additional questions regarding our Powerline products, please feel free to contact our 24/7 support team at the number and/or email provided for you below.

      Best Regards!

I needed to add a wireless access point on the second floor and this saved me the trouble of trying to get an Ethernet cable run up there. It works great.

I had zero problems installing the kit. At the remote end, I hooked the device to an un-managed gigabit switch and all the devices plugged into the switch can get to the internet without difficulty. I can now stream video! My only regret is that no one seems to sell a single add on unit even though the TP-Link web site indicates there is one. Everyone is just selling the two unit kit.

wifi internet could not reach my throughout the house because of cement and brick walls. whereas the wifi signal was about 5 mbps, using this got me near 40 mbps. huge difference. if you have the same problems with bricks or with distance, this should work for you. but you have to be plugged into it via an ethernet chord, and my router modem is also plugged into it via ethernet cable.

Overall this product is super easy to set up, and with the led indication lights on the units it makes it super easy to diagnose any issues. This mid-end unit is perfect for nearly every user. Ultimately bandwidth will always be limited by the actual wiring in your home, so spending hundreds of dollars on hard-line adapters doesn't make sense. I can regularly break 100Mbps speeds using this adapter, and I even plugged in a wireless router to it to increase the WiFi signal in my room.
