Which I guess is Apple’s fault, but Kasa is responsible for notifying Apple since they changed their product (they have a blog post declaring they would no longer be making the devices compatible). I bought 3 of these and I actually really liked the devices and also Kasa iOS app. But I wanted to use HomeKit so that I don’t have multiple devices for my inevitably different branded devices. Ironically the same day I planned to exchange these for something HomeKit compatible, they stopped working. Well two of them did. The third had been unplugged and when I plugged it back in it was fine. The other two had some sort of problem and I attempted a firmware update and a factory reset and I’m not even sure if those were successful. I returned them all that evening. I’ve been using Wemo smart plugs ever since and they are doing great. I would still recommend this for someone who doesn’t care about HomeKit or uses Alexa or Google Home.

Used to from everything to decorations to room lighting and simply changing the name in the Home app worked without a hitch. Great product!

Pretty get smart plug

It’ll say smart plug not responding and you’ll have to unplug it occasionally. When you unplug it it resets it. I got it for a fair price so overall I’m pretty happy but I wish I didn’t have to reset it from time to time

Thank you for your review. We always recommend ensuring your router's WiFi signal is adequately strong in the smart device's location. Within the Kasa Smart app there's a feature that allows you to measure WiFi signal strength of your smart devices. When the app is connected, please check the signal strength in the Device Settings menu.
If the signal is within the ideal range and you're still experiencing these symptoms, please ensure your Kasa Smart app is up to date, then update your smart device's firmware using the steps in our FAQ: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html
