    Best Xbox1 Wireless Headset!

These to me are the best because heard other top headsets that mics sometimes don't work? Turtle Beach is trusted, it's wireless and can plug your phone to listen to music also if want to play music low with game or whatever! Have also a PS4 and also got the 500P the brother of 500X. 500P talks when you turn it on and seems lighter and was cheaper and sounds a bit louder? 500X doesn't talk when turn on, but after knowing your settings of sounds and familiar with headset, it's a great headset for XBOX1 if you want to go complete wireless.

I purchased these Turtle Beaches a few months ago, and waited until I had a chance to put them to good use before submitting the review. The first concern I had when purchasing this model of Turtle Beaches was the battery. I owned the x42 wireless model for the Xbox 360, and found myself constantly replacing batteries until moving to rechargeables. Even then the AAA batteries would not last very long. I was pleasantly surprised with this specific models battery life, however. This model has its own lithium battery that is rechargeable through a usb cord. I use my phone brick to charge it right now, as it is much quicker than plugging in to the back of the Xbox. I currently use the headset almost every night, and only charge the 500x once a week with current usage. I anticipate the more charges I make, the less efficient they will be. For now the battery is holding up. The most important factor is the sound quality to me. I expected to have a high quality sound with the 500x model as my x42s blew me away. I was not very happy to find that the price tag did not meet my expectations. Even though you can hear the 7.1 surround sound playing first person shooters, the differentiation between speakers front to back gets lost in sounds left to right. The bass in the headset was also less than stellar. Low noises were not as prominent as those in past models of the Turtle Beaches. While I was not impressed with the completeness of sound, I found the overall quality from a gaming standpoint was still good, and this model still outperforms other available options on the Xbox One. My only complaint is that you must max out the volume to really hear the sound the way the developers intended. Ultimately this is where I was let down most in my expectations as I could achieve this sound quality at 1/2 to 3/4 sound level in past models. The microphone for the chat ability is on par with what I expected in a headset. The volume control for the other members can be adjusted separately from sound which is a pretty standard feature in all models. The big bonus feature that is supposed to separate this model from others is the adaptive sound that lets you hear your own environment through the headset. There are three levels of loudness if you can choose (zero, medium, and loud) from. I find that this feature allows me to not feel like I am shut off from the things going on around me. It took a little bit to get used to this feature, but now I find it hard to use these headsets without that feature. I bought the 500x model primarily because my toddlers destroy and/or lose my chords around the house. The wireless option works to perfection, and I could not ask for a better option. The current Xbox One controllers also have an issue losing the connection to headsets plugged in causing you to lose vocal communication even though you can hear what others are saying. Complete wireless communication bypasses that issue. The only negative I will say I have noticed is that sometimes your voice lags behind others in party chat for some reason. I would definitely purchase again, but wish Turtle Beach company would increase quality of speakers for price.

A worthy upgrade from the XO Sevens

    Posted .

Turtle Beach Stealth 500X Review (dachshund not included) Pros: - Awesome sound, just THRUMS. I'm not a huge audiophile, but it is a HUGE LEAP past the TB XO-Sevens. Are you getting $200 sound out of the headset? It's close. The difference tonight, playing Call of Duty with the 500Xes was PROFOUND. I cannot tell if that's because they are so much better and this is way Call of Duty is supposed to sound....but it feels that way. - Plenty of Presets, even some set for specific games. A total of 16 possible presets - Includes a cable to work with your Tablet or Phone - Extremely simple set-up - Works right out of the box** - COMPLETELY WIRELESS -- FINALLY. Not tethered to the Xbox One controller in any way, and the controller actually feels a little lighter in the hand because that headset adapter is no longer necessary. This may not seem like much, but for anyone who had detached themselves from their XBox 360 controller, and felt the regression back to tethered controlled in Year 1 on the Xbox One -- this is welcome relief. Quasi-Pro & Con: **Yes it works, but it works much, much better one you update the firmware. This requires you a) Download the TB EarForce Audio Hub program have it installed on your compueter. and b) to plug in both the headset and the receiver base to a PC at the same time. Does the headset work without doing it? YES. However two items will be affected: You won't get to customize your Presets and have to deal with the Factory choices. Ok cool, that wouldn't bother most people. What WILL bother you -- the super-sensitive mic. I unpacked the headset last night gave it a test drive. Step-by-step hardward it easy. It worked right away as the headset and receiver/transmitter base come sync'd right out of the box. However, right away something seemed off. What I found was that the mic was picking up some very minute sounds, such as the dribble of water in the nearby dog-bowl (we have the electric, circulating Big Dog brand) or your own voice/breathing. Game sound overwhelmed this once I got Call of Duty fired up, but it hovered in the background. After I updated the firmware, POOF, all that sensitive mic sound was gone. So updating the Headset is highly recommended. The best part of updating the firmware are all the game specific PRESET you can load onto the headset, which is breeze in the AudioHub program. There are different preset for Assassin's Creed, Destiny, Tomb Raider, GTA, Battlefield, and most importantly, at least 4 for Call of Duty (Advanced Warfare (Robust bass heavy for SP Campaign), AW - Balanced Multiplayer, AW - Footstep focus, and Call of Duty Ghosts (boo). I swapped my entire Music Preset 3 to have channels dedicated to various Call of Duty and Destiny styles. That is sweet. Cons: - It doesn't talk to you like the other headset. Why? My former TB Call of Duty Headsets would all say "powering on" or "powering off" or tell you which number preset you were on. It is not a deal-breaker, but WHY TAKE AWAY that feature? It is useful. Now it is high-tone, low-tone. So Present Group1 (Game) is 1 High Tone, and the four subset within Game are signaled by Low Tones 1-4. (i.e. Game Group channel two is identified by two quick low tones, Game Group channel three by three, etc) This could be a obstacle for some users. For the most part, if you've spent $229 on a headset, hopefully you also have the tenacity to fiddle with it a little bit to get the most out of it, but the lack of this feature, which I personally found very appealing it disappointing. - The cost $229 (I got might at Best Buy on Sale for $199) is a steep entry point, but it's less than the comparably-equipped Astro A50s - I haven't explored all the presets for Music and such, but these won't replace my Bose for listening to music, and for over $200 some consumers might rightfully expect that they do more than pump Xbox game sound.

I have bought nothing but Turtle Beach Head phones, mostly Bluetooth. The plastic holding the ear pieces are made out of cheap plastic and break easily. I bought a pair of these and they had to be exchanged and Best Buy did a great job on exchanging them. My exchanged pair broken in the same place and every pair of Turtle beaches I have bought broke on the same plastic piece that slides up and down to adjust its length on your head. I cannot suggest a better headset, I would just suggest that they make it out a metal for the hardcore gamer.

    Remarkably Hot!

Hot literally and figuratively. This is a noise canceling headset, and therefore your ears are fully covered which can make your ears hot. Almost need AC for these things. Can become a bit uncomfortable while wearing glasses and the frames push on your head. Unfortunately, these broke on me within the 1-year warranty period and I'm in the process of getting them replaced by Turtle Beach free. (see picture) These are not cheap. But they are WIRELESS and have AMAZING SOUND. Chat works well too. Any sound coming through your Xbox One, comes through this headset. Hulu, Netflix, games, blur-ray, and any other apps sound great. I don't bother anyone else in the house as my tv is muted, but my headset is booming. (people can sneak up on you, because you can't hear anything) If you plan to use your Xbox One often, chat often, watch movies/tv shows often, treat yourself to this headset. And again, WIRELESS and sound awesome. Game on, Eddie from N.C.

    KD Ration Has Gone Up

My Battlefield 4 kill/death ratio (KD) has gone up dramatically now that I am using this gaming headset. I use them whenever I play Battlefield, even when I have the option of using my regular 5.1 speaker system. I can hear enemy's movement so much better and it has me coming out on top most of the time. I can pick out gun fire locations and the ability to pin the distance and location is impressive. The headset has very good battery life, are comfortable for long periods, and have a good variety of preset for sound type. Highly recommended. Oh, they are also great for Forza 6 if you use a G920 steering wheel, because they are completely wireless and do not need to be tethered to the wheel with a cord. The G920 has no connection for the chat wire.

the headphones are very nice and are extremely comfortable. I have no problem wearing them for extended periods of time. Love the fact that they are completely wireless and does not require any connection to your controller. This makes them great for watching movies at night when you dont want to pump the volume up to get a great theater experience. The only issues i have are with the extremely short cable. So if the battery dies while playing it is very hard to play and charge at the same time. For some games and movies i also find volume to be very low. Also the lower frequencies seem to be lacking. I would still recommend these headphones considering the price range compared to something the astros.

I got a steal of a deal. Best Buy marked the price down to $149 because Turtle Beach discontinued this model in favor of the 800X. The headset works flawlessly. Set up was a breeze, seems to be well made, & fits comfortably which allows for lengthy gaming sessions. My only gripe is that the volume is a bit low when listening to music. I have another Turtle Beach headset for my Xbox 360 that is much louder. So, to sum things up, it was worth every penny of the $149 I paid for it but I don't think I would've been as satisfied if I had to pay full price.

I bought this at my local bestbuy for $199.99 and this is probably my best purchase for my Xbox. I love the fact that its fully wireless so I can get up and move around. The 7.1 surround sound is amazing, I can hear footsteps and explosions and gun shots super clearly and mic monitoring should be a must in every headset. Its a super light and comfortable for long gaming sessions. I've played 6+ hours and was never uncomfortable. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a true wireless headset for game and chat audio.

This headset is fantastic! The sound is good, the chat works flawlessly, they are pretty comfortable when wearing them for long periods, and I have not had an issue with them yet (I've owned them for 3 months). The only "major" drawbacks are that I had a little bit of trouble first syncing them to the Xbox, as the console wouldn't read the chat function. After a half hour of playing with the settings, they finally worked and I haven't had an issue since. Also, the buttons on the sides of the headset definitely take some getting used to, but that seems to be typical with completely wireless headsets. Lastly, the audio presets are a bit generic for the games I play (Call of Duty) but there seems to be one that works great for each game type. Not to mention you can go online and download more presets, I just have not had the time to explore them yet! Overall, solid headset!

Had an opportunity to buy this when it was on sale for $169.99. This was a great deal for this particular product as it offers substantial features when compared to Xbox One Turtle Beach headsets before it. As a previous XO-Four owner, and in spite of those headsets being well built and quite capable it lacked core features that were needed for a next generation experience. This headset offers complete freedom as you are no longer tethered to the controller or console in anyway. The sound quality offered for voice, gaming, music and movies is superb! The headset comes with several audio and surround sound presets which you can modify when you utilize it's easy to use "Ear Force Audio Hub" software. You can add and remove many different sound options to suit your gaming needs. The headsets offer great comfort and a decent battery life. Your mileage may vary depending on usage, but i typically charged mine every two days based, with heavy use. It also comes with adjustable Mic Monitoring so that you can hear yourself through the headset and alleviates you from inadvertently speaking excessively loud without you realizing it. Some minor faults, this device does not support Bluetooth connectivity, also it uses a series of sequential beeps to let you know what sound setting you are using. This means that you need to familiarize yourself with what sound presets is assigned to beep 1,2,3 or 4. Another slight mark against it, sometimes you tend to forget whether or not you have muted yourself because there isn't a audio cue after, I've used headsets that would give a soft beep every minute or so to remind me that I'm muted. I highly recommend this if you can get for less than it's retail price. If you see this for it's regular asking price, you may want to consider just springing for the Elite 800X which retail at $299. If you've no desire to spend that kind of money on headsets, then these will do the job quite adequately!

The Stealth 500X Headset makes such a big difference its hard to play Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty without wearing them, even though I have a very good 5.1 surround system. I can hear so much more detail. I can pin point the distance and location of gun fire and can hear enemies coming up from behind and from the side. My kill / death ratio has gone way up because of the 500X headset. Sound is great with no distortion or static and the battery life is as advertised (up to 15 hours on a charge). The headset is comfortable and light weight. Watch for them to go on sale and you won't be sorry.

This is my second pair of Turtle Beach headsets. My first pair (X41), which I bought about three to four years ago, still work great! The only downfall of the X41s is that they are not compatible with the Xbox One unless you buy the cheaply made adapter. I love the Ear Force Stealth 500X Wireless DTS 7.1 Surround Sound Headset for Xbox One! They are completely wireless except for the wires that connect from the docking station to the Xbox One. No more cord from the headset to the controller, or cord running to the console! The sound is amazing! The comfort level is brilliant! Very highly recommended!!

I never purchased headphones as expensive as these, but the sound quality you get from them is excellent. Physical adjustments: There are buttons on the headphones that let you hear your own voice in the headphones ( helps keep you from yelling) and also has buttons to mute and power down the headset. There are two sound knobs: one to adjust game sound and one to adjust chat sound, which is nice. Recognition of the headset on XBOX ONE: I do find that the XBOX is a little finicky to send the sound through the headset, even when the headset is "assigned to a specific user. I can usually assign it to a different profile and then assign it back to mine, and that usually does the trick. Sound profiles: They have a number of presets you can play around with and even load different profiles for specific game titles. The setup is a little odd, as you have to plug in the small broadcasting hardware into a laptop to manage the other profiles. Comfort: while these are very comfortable to wear, I do find that I start to get a small headache after a couple of hours of gaming. I wear glasses, so I don't know if the glasses are adding extra pressure when the headphones are on. I don't know of any way to adjust how tight the headset is. This, plus the inconsistent way the XBOX ONE recognizes the headset were the main reason I give it 4 instead of 5 star rating.

I exchanged my Turtle Beach XO Seven Pro's for this headset due to a recurring issue with that model and have yet to be disappointed with the sound and directional hearing with this headset. Although it seemed like they are a bit quieter than the XO Seven Pro's, it wasn't an issue and they are plenty loud. The addition of the 16 change-able audio presets is a plus, with a down side being that you need to either remember or write down which is which since it only tells you which you're on by a beep pattern and flashing light pattern on the transmitter. Another dislike I had was that they do not have Super Human Hearing as one of the game presets by default, but that is quickly changed with the settings app on your computer when you update them. Turtle Beaches choice in charging cable not being the widely used Micro-USB (like the Xbox One controllers) and the Mobile Cable being a 2.5mm on the headset side to a 3.5mm(regular) on the phone/device side are rather disappointing but overall not much of an issue. Overall I'm fairly satisfied with this headset so far and have had no issues with battery life which is always a concern when using wireless anything.

not noise canceling(which is what I wanted) as I want to have some idea if someone is trying to talk to me in the house. The 800x are but I didn't see the real value with linking to my cellphone either. These are completely wire free! I like having the boom mic. Now, the materials for the cushions could be softer as I prefer the felt-like material on the Tritons. These are bit tight on my head too and I dont have a big head. So those with Big Domes please try on in the store first. Sound quality is on par with the rest. I'm not into downloading the app and making all these preset adjustments. I just put them on and turn up the vol. BTW, I mostly play FPS, Arkham Knight and GoW. Value? they're a lot I know but they are durable too so I do give them a 4/5.

I purchased these after returning the Turtle Beach XO Four Stealth's which I was very disappointed with. The only good thing about the XO Four's was that it made me realize how much a gaming headset could improve the gaming experience. With that in mind I looked at headsets up to the $200 range and got these on sale for about $180. I had very high expectations for these as they're usually compared to the Astro's and for nearly $200 these would definitely be good! Not so much... Once again I immediately thought the headset felt very cheap and didn't have the feel of a $230 retail headset. And once again I updated all the firmware and downloaded the Turtle Beach Ear Force Audio Hub was impressed with all the different audio options to download to the headset. I found the switching between different audio settings a bit awkward but after a few days I felt like I got the hang of it. Like the XO Four's, I felt that the audio quality was never what it should be given the price. The 500x's are no doubt much better than the XO Four's, but once again I found the quality of the bass to be pretty poor... many times when there were explosions or very bass-heavy sounds, they sounded very muddled. I found myself switching the bass level back and forth which was very annoying. I started to think my expectations were just too high - so I got the Astro A50's and planned to test them both over the following week before my 15 day return period expired on the TB 500x. Well, let's just say that, I repacked the Turtle Beach 500x's so I could return them after only an hour or 2 of using the A50's. Yes, the Astro A50's are very expensive when compared to the 500x's, which are also quite expensive when compared to many other headsets. But the difference in audio quality is huge. All this being said, there were a couple good things about these - 100% wireless (the A50's are not) - Good job of simulating surround sound - Excellent battery life - Mic monitoring & adjusting between chat/game audio was easy - Clearer mid/high frequencies. Maybe if you don't play FPS type games these may work out better for you. But at the end of the day, I felt these didn't offer high-quality & well-rounded audio experience.

This is a great headset, make no mistake. Once the transmitter is connected to an Xbox One, and the headset is powered up, all sound, including chat audio, comes through the headset, and no wires need to be connected to the controller for this experience. But.. Normal game audio still comes through the TV or receiver as usual. But, regardless of whether the headset is on or off, chat audio gets routed to it. This means that once the usb cable is plugged into the console from the transmitter, you can't hear people talking in games unless you have the headset on. To get around this, you have to unplug the transmitter. For some, this is an annoyance, for me, with my console in an entertainment cabinet, it was a showstopper. If you have easy access to the back of your console, or you always wear the headset when gaming, it might not be a issue for you though. A second note- this headset is a step forward for Turtle Beach in that they are the first totally wireless xbox headset from this company, period. But for the money, their older XP510, or Ear Force Tango headsets are a better buy, so long as you don't mind the cable to the controller for voice chat audio. With this xbox one, this also means you need the MS stereo chat adapter to connect to the controller. But in return these older headsets can be bought (at least for now, it appears they are getting harder to find) for less money. And these older headsets are far more programmable, if you value that capability. With the 500x, you can only change game audio presets, and then only with the predefined choices provided by Turtle Beach. The older headsets not only allow this, but, using software available from Turtle Beach, you can tweak the presets, or create your own. And you can modify the chat output too (voice morphing- sound like Darth Vader!), or change the in-headset feedback voice. These latter customizations aren't possible with the 500x. One other advantage the 500x does have, is lightness. These are the lightest over-the-ear xbox headsets I've used to date. This translates to being the most comfortable too. The difference between the XP510 and Tango headsets is minor, but evident. So, in the end I would recommend this headset to others, provided they understand and can live with the cons that go with them.
