Customers commend the Elite 800 Wireless DTS 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Gaming Headset's exceptional sound quality, wireless functionality, and comfortable design. Many also appreciate its good battery life. However, some users find the buttons overly sensitive, the price high, and the fit snug for larger heads. A few also noted the headset's weight as a potential issue during extended use.

yes! or at least they are so far!
i recently switched from the astro A50's due to zack in support and the several recent issues (check their forums). they use to be so awesome so i actually felt a bit sad switching.
i love not having a wire attached between the controller and headset which i thought was the greatest design flaw of the xb1. it's great that TB fixed that. :)
the sound is pretty darn great and i've had our platoon do several mic checks. it seems to work flawlessly and it does not pick up the tv or the wife yelling at me to stop playing (jk, she's awesome) -- but seriously, they don't hear any background noise. i was worried abt that w/o a mic that you can position right in front of my jabber box mouth. i'll do some audio/video recordings soon to confirm 100%.
cons:
- was a little tight on my skull at first but i think either i'm getting use to it or they're breaking in.
- i was never a fan of leather pads because they feel sticky compared to something like velour headphone pads (i have velour pads for my studio monitor headphones and they're amazing). still, TB probably uses leather to keep the sound locked in? idk.
- i picked up some odd feedback once but i'm not sure if that was xb1 or the wireless headset. since it only happened once i didn't pin it on them or contact support.
- purely based on opinion, i think the a50's look slightly cooler but in fairness, these don't look bad and their capabilities make them overall better.. ;)
so far, i'm really happy i switched!

This headset is awesome. I have the PX4's, XP510's, Stealth 500X's and the PX51's. I love the sound on these so much more than the others, it seems more clear than the other headsets. The Stealth 500X's for my Xbox One are very close, but I think the ear cups on the Elite 800's seal better on my head so the sound is a little more clear for my experience anyways. The 500x are more cloth where the elite 800's are almost like a leather. The bass isn't too boomy, but controlled and audible. Best headset to date from Turtle Beach.. The fact I don't have a mic in my face is a bonus also. I like the recharging stand also.
The ear cups are very comfy compared to some other headsets I have owned in the past.

I bought the Geek Squad refurbished one first and absolutely loved them but then they quit working in less than a week. Love them so much I went ahead and just paid the difference to get a brand new set instead of replacing the bad refurbished ones. Besides using for Xbox I use the Bluetooth for listening to music while working around the house as well as when mowing. I like being able to answer phone calls while still gaming at the same time.

Good:
They feel nice and look nice, Bluetooth for your phone works great, battery last a long time, you can go very far from your Xbox and still work.
Bad:
They hurt my ears after a little while, they turn off by themselves some times, The bottoms are sensitive and change settings very easy if Headset gets bumped by something like your chair.
VERY BAD:
I care and protect my things a lot! I baby this headset and almost a year using them and the plastic that holds the right side broke.. very disappointed they look like new but the plastic cracked :(

These are hands down the best headset I've had with turtle beach. I tried the 500x for the Xbox One. But they felt really cheap, sound quality was ok and the volume on them didn't get very loud. So I decided to take back the turtle beach 500x and spend a bit more money to get the elite 800's. Now it does suck to lose the all wireless part of the 500x, But the elite 800's were made for the ps4. So I knew it still needed to chat adapter to work. But after holding the headset in my hands for the first time, they finally felt like a real high end headset. All my turtle beach headsets felt like cheap plastic which I wasn't a fan of, since you spend a decent amount of money on nice headsets. But anyways the charging base is awesome. Just drop your headset on the dock and it charges right up, that's a nice little feature and the fact that this headset works on PS4, Xbox One, PC and your phones. That to me was a big plus. The sound quality was really good with lots of presents to choose from. The app on your phone is pretty cool and being able to change settings right from there and see your battery life was awesome. I definitely feel like you get your 300 dollars worth out of this headset and It works great on my Xbox One. The only down fall to this headset is that, the buttons are really easy to press by accident. I do it all the time when sitting in my chair. But hopefully they can do an update where we can press a button for so long, then it will put the headset on a hold or something. So buttons don't get pressed by mistake. Note that this headset uses a 3.5 to 3.5mm jack to the Xbox One controller. So my old talkback cables no longer worked because they were a 2.5 to 3.5mm cable. But the headset does come with a 3.5 to 3.5mm cable which was probably meant for the cell phones. But it works fine on the Xbox One controller.
Also, don't forget to register your headset on turtle beaches website. Its free to sign up for the elite membership. They gave you 1 free shirt or hoodie and 2 pairs of speaker plates free and they ship it for free.

The sound on this headset is amazing. The wireless works great and the charging base ensures I never run out of power day to day, so long as I dock it when I'm done using it. It takes some getting used to as it does feel somewhat heavy. The memory foam pads are comfortable but they do require you to take a break every few hours to relieve pressure they place on your head and ears. I have successfully gotten this headset to work with my PS4, PS3, Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360 (both with a simple 3.5mm headphone cable), PC and phone. These replaced my ear force tangos and are definitely worth the purchase if you have the means. Extra sound modes are a welcome addition. It is missing a voice modifier which is fun but doesn't take away from the functionality of this headset. It can be connected and configured via usb on your PC.. Which I have yet to do but appreciate the option. Highly recommend

I just got my Turtle Beach Elite 800x Wireless Headset for my Xbox One about a week ago and i must say, I LOVE THEM!!!!!!....Everything you need in a gaming headset is there, especially that the headset is 100% Wireless from the Console & Controller when Gaming & Chating....The sound quality is Amazing and the bluetooth works well with any Bluetooth devices..The chat quality is also very loud and clear....The headset also comes with its own dedicated Customer Service phone line and has its own Personal App...Setting the headset up is pretty easy as well(No update required to make headset work properly like older models) works great right out the Box(I do Recommend keeping your headset updated whenever there a New Firmware Update available)...Music sounds really nice considering it's a gaming headset and the charging dock is one of the coolest features about it.....It also has a great battery life of 10 hours...Game Sound Quality 10/10...Chat Quality 9.5/10...Music Quality 8.5....Headset Features 10/10....The only two problems that I have about this headset is the price point is a little steep, and the buttons on the ear plates are way too sensitive....If the price point is not a problem for you then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING THIS HEADSET!!!!!... because after a while you will get used to the sensitive buttons
OVERALL: 9.5
BEST HEADSET I'VE EVER OWNED!!!!!!

Cons:
- Too many sound presets
- Takes too long to shuffle through said presets
- Ear cups are a bit small
- Mic is a bit quite when using it with phone
Pros:
- Comfortable
- Noise cancellation
- Charges fast
- Long battery
- True 7.1 surround sound
- Bluetooth pairing works well
About me:
I think I'm a pretty average user with a normal sized head and ears. I am using this headset plugged into a TV's optical port. This allows all sound coming through that specific TV to be played through the headset, not just from an Xbox One. I can listen to my PC through this though I haven't tried to pair it to the PC and use it as a microphone. I have NOT synced it to my Xbox One, though I would imagine that the optical port doesn't affect pairing the headset with the console.
Full Review:
The ear cups are a bit too small and cause my ear to be a little aggravated but I think in time it won't be an issue once I get used to it. To shuffle through the presets you have to either press the preset button or hold it down. A quick press will shuffle through the current mode's presets, of which there are four modes, Gaming, Movie, Music, and Stereo. Holding down the button for some time and then releasing it will switch through these modes. Each mode contains about four or more presets which you can then shuffle through, which is where the madness begins. In general, I just stay in the default option and can't tell much of a difference with the exception being the Gaming mode. There are two presets in this mode, Superhuman Hearing and Footstep Focus which really change what you hear and are a good addition. I would have preferred the other modes, Movie, Music and Stereo, to have not had any presets to simplify the device. The Bluetooth worked quite well and was set up within seconds but when I tried to have a call with someone they were complaining that I was "mumbling" when I was speaking at a relatively loud level. The microphone also has four different modes which irks me. I was delighted that the headset came with noise cancellation and I think it does its an alright job. I don't think it's Bose quality cancellation but it's okay. The ear cups and headband are made of pleather and, minus the size, are comfortable. The battery is strong and the charge is extremely fast and I have yet to completely drain the device. The surround sound is awesome and sounds like you're in a movie theater. I'm pretty satisfied and if it weren't for the ear cup size and the number of preset modes I think this would have been the perfect product for me.
Notes:
Even if you have a Turtle Beach adapter to the Xbox 360 (like for the X41's headset to controller adapter) it will not work. The reason is because the 360 uses a 2.5mm jack whereas the 800x uses a 3.5mm jack. I have ordered an adapter but I doubt it will work, I will update if it's possible to let you know.

I read tons of reviews on the Elite 800x and Astro A50 prior to buying the 800x. In the end the determining factor was that for the same price ($299) the 800x had way more bang for the buck- completely wireless, wireless charging/magnetic charging station, Bluetooth, noise cancellation, tons more presets.
I wanted something that was completely wireless. I love being able to run to the kitchen for a drink or snack during a long Call of Duty gaming session without taking these off or having to bring my controller- same goes for running to the restroom, LOL. Noise cancellation and mic monitoring work great. The mic quality was my only concern with these. I bought them from Best Buy to be able to test it out and take it back if it was truly bad. However, after testing the mic in a party and taking a call on my iPhone using Bluetooth (you can sync it to your phone while you're gaming and take calls!!), my friends assured me that they could hear me just fine. Was it as clear as a boom mic? No, but it's never going to be . They have several mic settings to help with mic quality depending on if you're in a loud or quiet room. In my testing these help a little. I just keep mine on normal or loud room and can be heard just fine. Once I was satisfied that the mic quality was sufficient to be heard clearly- I was sold on these. Better value hands down compared to the Astro A50s.
Make sure you update the firmware on the headphones and the transmitter before you use them. Turtle Beach has made improvements to the mic quality. You can also assign different presets. I assigned a preset for COD AW and it works great. FYI- you'll need a computer with two USB ports as you have to have the headphones and transmitter connected simultaneously to update the firmware. There are tons of YouTube videos on how to do this.
Comfort- a little discomfort after long gaming sessions. Ear cups could be larger but they are heavily padded.
Size- fully adjustable and fit snugly. They won't fly off if you turn or shake your head.
Battery/charging- good battery life. I've played for 5+ hour sessions and they've yet to die on me.
Pros- great audio quality, tons of presets, Bluetooth, completely wireless, noise cancellation and mic monitoring, transmitter doubles as docking/charging station that connects wirelessly using magnetic connectors. Good battery life.
Cons- ear cups are on the small side, no boom mic means less that stellar mic quality, buttons located on the ear cups are too easily pressed.

I bought these to replace my old Tritton headset that burnt up on me. With the disappointment I had with the Tritton's, I decided that I was going to purchase a high end headset with the hopes of a better experience.
So far, so good.
I was debating between this TB Elite 800x and the Astro A50s. I couldn't find anywhere around me that had a working Turtle Beach headset display (*Ahem...Best Buy, you had 3 stores that I checked, and all 3 displays were broken!), but an employee at my local Best Buy reminded me of the 15 day return policy, and convinced me to take them on a two week test drive.
FEATURES
Over the next two weeks, I played with both the Elite 800x that I bought, and my friend's Astro A50s. To me, with the price being equal, the Elite 800s are the way to go. The Turtle Beach's have so many more features (Bluetooth, Completely wireless Xbox Connection, Superior Sound, TONS of presets, Magnetic Charging Stand, Etc) I like to compare the sound of the Turtle Beach's to the sound of a home theatre surround sound. The sound will encompass you and has a great range from highs to bass. I think the A50s were fantastic for FPS multiplayer games where you need to hear footsteps, but explosions and other deep sounds were blase at best. But with a change of the Preset on the Elite 800s, they every bit as capable of handling this as the A50s, plus they give you the full volume of sound you want when listening to music (which I have used these while vacuuming and mowing, using the bluetooth from my phone).
CONCERNS
The two issues I commonly saw when reading reviews over the internet were mic quality (due to internal mic setup) and comfort issues. Rest assured, the Mic quality is just fine. I have zero complaints from anyone in my Xbox party, or even when I use them during a phone call. I have even had my wife use them to call me so I could hear the mic first hand. It is clear. The comfort issue...the A50s were more comfortable, and that is the ONLY reason I gave 4 stars. This is the only category that the Astros won in my book. The cloth feel of the A50s is more forgiving than the Elite 800s fake leather. That being said, they still arent bad. I have played for several hours without taking them off, and my only complaint is that my ears will feel warm, even slightly sweaty, after a few hours. But definitely tolerable. Better than tolerable. But still inferior to the Astros in this aspect.
OVERVIEW
If you are in the market for a top tier headset, I would highly recommend these. $300 is a hard pill to swallow, but if you can afford it, I would recommend the Turtle Beach Elite 800x over the Astro A50. So many more features, quality performance, free gear, and the longest factory warranty for a headset that I know of.

As far as gaming headsets go it has above average audio quality, does it justify the price tag on audio alone, no but the feature set gives it the edge to make up for it.
Multiple sound profiles allow you to get some of the best sound in any scenario. Whether music, movies, games (specific profiles geared toward specific games is a plus as is the fact that Turtle Beach supplies more as new games arrive) the profiles tune the headset to give you a pleasant audio experience. Firmware updates are a standard on all headsets of this caliber but Turtle Beach actually providing them often is a pleasant surprise. The compact design is a plus (ie no boom mic) and still provides great audio in terms of the chat microphone. The virtual surround is about as good as can be expected which provides great immersion when playing various titles or watching movies. The ability to connect via bluetooth to a phone is a great plus, whether you want to stream music while playing or to take a quick call, the ability to control game/phone/chat volumes more or less independently of each other works well if not quite intuitively .
This brings us to some of the areas of improvement the microphone (your voice) is routed back to the headphones, ideally so when you"re using it you're not screaming into the unit because you can hear yourself and modulate your tone. The timing/volume for this isn't quite right so you hear a very noticeable echo worse when you use the headset to receive a call. The buttons are also incredibly sensitive to the lightest touches (like turning your head and bumping your chair) and will cause functions to trigger like changing the sound profile or clicking the bluetooth button, my phone recognizes this as the pause/play command, so it's nice to suddenly be surprised by music playing when you're immersed in a game or chatting with someone. Also accidentally triggering more than one button is common. Lastly the headset consistently disconnects from the PS4, this is a more of a Playstation issue, other people have had it and other headsets have it. Notably I had the Astro A50's and they had the same problem (exchanged from those to the Elite 800, better sound on the A50s but better comfort and I prefer the style and features of the Elite 800s). What happens is you get visual feedback on the PS4 and lose microphone connectivity and can't respond to chat, but unlike the A50s you still receive game and chat audio rather than just silence.
Most problems can be fixed via firmware updates, adjusting the audio feedback for your voice, instituting a button combination to actually lock/unlock the controls so physical pushes don't do anything, and getting with Sony to get to the bottom of the connection drops. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase and while the cost is premium I think for most buyers it can be justified based on what it brings to the table.

I purchased this after owning and returning px11 sony pulse sony gold elite 400 elite 500p all which snapped except px11. Elite 400 and 500p look like they were made for a 12 year old. Elite 800 fit snug even with glasses. Buttons are touchy but not a big deal. I like how you can use them plugged in while they are off. The voice prompt are not as good as on 500p by which I mean a pleasant not loud voice. The elite 800 has so many bonuses the charger is magnetic completely witeless. Presets can be customized on laptop easily. Sound is very good. Bass is good. You get swappable plates even free ones a shirt or hoody. Good warranty. Bluetooth works great taking phone calls is great while gaming. The headset app is cool to see how much battery is left or to change presets easily, or mic and voice prompt loudness. You can put mic on quite room for no noise or loud room if people are screaming like playing and no one listening online can hear them. I tested it. Mic is good but you have to max it on ps4 settings so ppl can hear you. All in all I got this because I kept returning a broken 500p and repaying the warranty for it would eventually added up to the price of this headset. I kept rebuying this headset series due to the best sound quality available. I plan on keeping it forever and renewing my warranty when needed. Make sure you buy a warranty best buy has great warranty coverage it breaks no receipt no problem. Just make sure you find a good store I've been to bad ones not fun. Thanks for reading this and if you don't know try it and return it after a bit.

To start this off I will give some background. I owned and returned four pairs of the Astro A50 Gen 2 xbox edition headsets prior to the turtle beaches coming out. the A50's had so many issues which were consistent across all four pairs. The TB has a few issues as well. For example when you turn on the headset and join a party for the first time of the session, make sure you turn down chat because it will blow your ear drums. im not sure why TB decided to have MAX volume as default for chat but it sucks. Also, I have had to unplug the power from the charge base every once in a while because the headset wont assign itself like its supposed to and you end up having your Kinect as microphone. As of now there is no other way to manually assign the head set. Overall I like the headset, it sounds good, I have yet to have the battery die and ITS COMPLETELY WIRELESS!! I have no idea why this has taken soo long to happen! Four out of Five for lousy default setting and assignment issues. WAY better than Astros!
