Turtle Beach has really outdone themselves with this race wheel and pedal set - it offers a TON of features and tremendous realism - though it's not for the casual "jump in and play" sort. Is it right for you? Read on to find out! From the moment you pick up the nearly 40lb box, it's clear this is NOT an entry level setup. The whole kit is really nicely packaged - each piece is individually wrapped for protection - and the unboxing / setup process is very smooth though the included pictorial instructions could be a bit more detailed / could use a few more words. You can set up the wheel / pedals with a desk (or table) or on a sim racing chair frame - I would recommend the chair frame for the ultimate realism as the dynamic force on the brake pedal can cause it to slide even on grippy surfaces. The wiring is pretty straight foward with USB-C to USB-C connectors (which I love, just in case a wire breaks or you need a longer / shorter one) connecting the components and a USB-C to USB-A cable connecting to the Xbox or PC (it also requires one standard power plug for it's AC adapter). For this review, I'm using a PC setup though I'll likely move it to my Xbox Series X at some point in the future. Once you complete the physical setup and fire up a game, the REAL work of dialing in your setup starts. This is why the wheel isn't for the feint of heart as no games that I tried (on PC) worked right out of the box - in Assetto Corsa Competizione, F1 '23 and Forza Horizon 5 I had to complete all of the mapping manually to set up the wheel / pedals and buttons the way I wanted. I also then used the settings on the wheel to dial in the rotation (lock to lock), feedback, deadzone, pedal sensitivity and more. This was all quite easily done - but it IS time consuming to get it just the way you want. Fortunately, you can store multiple profiles on the wheel itself to simplify switching games in the future. Once all the setup is complete, you're ready to race and it's (almost always) a GREAT experience. The wheel FEELS like the steering wheel in a higher end car and the pedals have a smooth action. I love the dual paddle setup (there are two "digital" and two analog paddles) and the force feedback is strong (it will REALLY torque your wrists and arms, particularly if you crash). It was easy for me to adapt to as a long time (though off and on) steering wheel user, this would be a pretty big jump from a controller, though an awesome one if you really want to get into sim racing! One special feature that I do love about this setup is the screen behind the wheel - it not only makes changing the settings on the wheel a breeze but also allows for great display of information while gaming - though it's not widely supported yet, so I'm mostly using it to show the steering angle and that type of data. Hopefully it gets more broad in game support in the future! So if you're looking for a way to add some additional realism to your sim racing on either PC or Xbox, this is a great way to do it (as long as you don't mind doing a bit of setup work for each game you want to use)! Give it a try today!

VelocityOne: A Sim Racing Dream Come True

As a tech enthusiast and avid sim racer, I was thrilled to get my hands on the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Race Wheel & Pedal System. This setup promises high-fidelity racing simulation and compatibility with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 & 11 PCs. After extensive testing, I can confidently say that this product delivers an immersive and realistic racing experience that rivals more expensive setups. The direct-drive force feedback, customization options, and premium materials make this a standout in the midrange sim racing market. Unboxing the VelocityOne was an exciting experience. The packaging was thoughtfully designed, with each component securely protected and clearly labeled. Setting up the system was straightforward, thanks to the detailed quickstart guide. I appreciated that all the components connected via USB-C cables, making the setup process hassle-free. The table clamp mechanism for the wheel was particularly impressive, providing a secure and stable mounting solution for both desk and cockpit setups. The force feedback performance of the VelocityOne is nothing short of spectacular. Powered by a custom K: Drive motor, the direct-drive system provides powerful and responsive feedback. In games like iRacing and Wreckfest, the detailed reactions to in-race events were incredibly immersive. The wheel accurately conveyed the sensations of brake lockup and weight transfer, enhancing the overall realism of the driving experience. The quiet and cool operation of the motor was a pleasant surprise, even during extended gaming sessions. One of the standout features of the VelocityOne is the Race Management Display (RMD). This 5” screen behind the wheel rim offers real-time race telemetry and allows for extensive customization. The RMD integrates seamlessly with popular racing titles through the SimHub software, providing useful dashboard metrics and profile adjustments. While I found the display a bit dim in well-lit rooms, its functionality and ease of use more than made up for this minor drawback. The wheel rim and pedal set also impressed me with their build quality and performance. The hand-stitched leather wheel felt great to grip, and the Mag-Shift paddle shifters provided smooth and reliable gear changes. The additional analog paddles for clutch and handbrake control were a nice touch, adding to the overall versatility of the setup. The pedals, featuring a Dynamic Brake Tek load-cell braking system, offered precise and responsive control. The adjustable throttle, brake, and clutch pedals allowed me to fine-tune the setup to my preferences. In terms of versatility, the VelocityOne excels with its multiplatform compatibility and robust mounting solutions. The low-profile mounting clamp and pre-drilled holes ensure the wheel stays secure at full torque, while the adhesive rubber pads keep the pedals firmly in place on any floor surface. The included VelocityOne tuner companion app further enhances customization, allowing for updates and performance adjustments via your console, PC, or smartphone. Overall, the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Race Wheel & Pedal System is a fantastic addition to any sim racing setup. Its high-fidelity force feedback, customizable features, and premium materials make it an excellent value for the price. If you're serious about sim racing and looking for a high-quality, midrange option, I highly recommend giving the VelocityOne a try.

I tested this steering wheel on my Xbox One-S using Forza Horizon 4&5 and Forza Motorsports. Overall, my experience with it was good, although it is lacking in some areas. Setup was easy. Out of the box there was very little assembly, and for the most part it was plug-n-play. There were some firmware updates, but that’s to be expected. The steering wheel gives great feedback, making you feel like you're really behind the wheel of the car. The 7.2Nm driver made for a very realistic driving experience. The RMD feature is awesome. I love the gauges on the base—they add a cool touch of realism. I was not able to get this to work for Forza Motorsports. It just showed “Waiting for game information” the whole time on the screen. Being able to create separate driving profiles is a great addition; you can customize your experience to suit you. The headphone jack on the base was super convenient, so I didn’t have to run my headphones all the way to my Xbox. The detachable steering wheel makes it great for storage. I do wish they had stuck with the standard size shaft so you could use other steering wheels, but hopefully Turtle Beach releases more options of wheels for this unit. The lighting on the wheel looks awesome at night. The unit did act up a few times. The lights all dimmed out and the steering wheel was just turning back and forth. This happened mid game several times, which was annoying. The only way to stop it was to unplug power from the base and plug it back in. It seems this is a pretty common issue from reading some forums. Upgrading the firmware did not resolve the issue. In my opinion, the brake pedal is too stiff. It might break in over time, but it made it difficult to control the braking sensitivity. The pedal base also moves around a lot, especially on hard floors. You definitely want to purchase a stand and not try to use this independently as you cannot keep the pedals in place using them on the floor. I also wish there was more sensitivity control in the pedals. There are only three settings for each one and it makes pedal control difficult to adjust, especially on the throttle. Overall, the Turtle Beach Velocity One is a decent racing wheel with its ups and downs. It's great for casual gamers, but serious enthusiasts might find it lacking in some areas.

The VelocityOne Race has a nice D-shaped wheel which features six face buttons, a directional stick for menu navigation, four dials, two buttons on the back, and accompanied four paddles. The wheelbase, ‘Race Management Display’ (RMD) is setup to provide you with a feel of being in a car, providing controls that are readily available to adjust and tune your settings to your desired play while in the menus or during game play on the xBox console. Some of the information provided via the RMD is your current speed, gear, lap times, tire wear, and other additional information were supported in the game being played. Forza managed to provide a good amount of information during gameplay, but was still limited as well as other racing and vehicle base games that required additional control settings and changes to work. What wasn’t displayed via RMD was on your HUB on the screen itself. While there is an additional button box that can be attached to the steering wheel, this does not really serve a use unless supported by the game itself during control customization and control setting. The paddle base, while a nice addition can use some design change with where the port is to connect the base to the steering base as damage may occur if attempted to place the pedal along a back surface to help prevent pedal movement during use. May need to find a way to limit the amount of force as the sticky pads do work to an extent before eventually sliding along the force due to push force when braking or using the other pedals. With its direct drive build, this does mean the steering is more responsive as it would be in most sports cars’ setup for racing. Overall, it is felt, this would be best served along with a racing chair setup to allow for a full personal setup and customization even though it can be tied to a desk and pedals placed under a table or desk for gameplay. I can say the that I would recommend this setup for someone starting to intermediate levels of driving, or someone looking for a unit with direct drive over other alternative band and gear-based setups. This seems to be the most responsive unit I’ve tested yet giving you the closest to a realistic feel during use.

Feel likes a realistic driving wheel when you tune it correctly. I bought mine used and it was missing the cables it needed, also missing screws it almost seemed like they didn’t even inspect it before selling it to me. Very disappointed with that after spending 500$+

Best wheel for Xbox for under $700.

Honestly, it's the best wheel I've seen for $650. At it's price point, it's the best bang for your buck. I've had zero issues after almost a month of use, and the software has only been getting better. The only negative is there have been some software issues with the device that will hopefully be ironed out over time.
