I purchased this UE Roll knowing full well it was last generation's model. Having said that, it is well worth the price especially at the discounted mark. The UE Roll is rugged, waterproof (just in case you drop it in the pool), is small and lightweight, and it has good sound quality for its size. The UE Roll really emphasizes the highs in music while the mids and lows are neglected. That's par for the course when it comes to Bluetooth speakers of this size and price. You really need to spend at least $200 to get something with decent bass. I've taken my UE Roll in the shower, out on the pool (I have a small pool floaty for it), on a river for some slow rafting days, and to the beach multiple times. The advertised battery life is accurate, the UE Roll actually lasts a bit longer than the advertised life. If you've owned any UE Boom product, this will be very similar. There's an app so you can customize the EQ and you can pair it up with another UE Roll for stereo sound. All-in-all, this is the absolute best $50 Bluetooth speaker that you'll find on the market even compared to the second generation (which really only gets a little louder). Of course, the UE Boom 2 and UE Megaboom will sound better but they are far more expensive. If you're on the market for an inexpensive Bluetooth speaker, do yourself a favor and go with this as you won't regret it. Just make sure you keep your expectations in check and don't expect this to produce bass like a subwoofer can.

Needed a rugged life proof speaker with good sound. Didn't want anything bulky or big. It's perfect when I go mountain biking. Fast connection! I turn it on and music starts playing right away. Big volume buttons but I mainly use my phone for volume. Sound is awesome! I have it hanging from the top of my backpack so sound is close to my head. It's crisp and clear. Lack BIG bass but I don't even notice it when riding on bumpy roads. I can hear the music loud and clear and that's all that matters. Battery lasts hours. Haven't had it die on me. I ride 2-3 hours. The loop in the back will defenenlty not hold when in motion but you can loop the loop around the speaker like a knot! Problem solved. Love my speaker! The app is useful too but you mainly need it for initial setup and equalizer settings. Definitely recommend this. Have yet to use two of them at the same time.

I purchased this speaker during one of the sales at Best Buy. It was only about $50 and well worth this price. At the same time I also purchased a Bose Soundlink mini and will attempt to compare the two. The UE speaker is waterproof and has good clear sound. I was amazed the the simple shape and operation yielded good sound. The best feature is the hook (rope) which allows you to hand the speaker anywhere. I hang it in my car, on my kitchen cabinet handles, door handles, and all over the house. This makes the speaker so mobile. The sound is clear but not very loud due to the limitations in the case size. So I would classify the sound as impressive for the size but it does lack base which is understandable. Compared to the Bose which cost me more than $100 more the only difference is the Bose will play louder and have more base. More base is not necessarily better so you have to evaluate what type of music you will be playing on it. I end up leaving the Bose at home and leaving the UE in my car. They are really two different animals. For the $50 price its a no brainer. At the full price of $100 the field becomes more crowded but the portability and rugged aspects of this speaker cannot be beat. For my "road" speaker I prefer a speaker more rugged than having better fidelity. I did take out the Bose once and my daughter ended up damaging the front grill on the Bose. This is why I keep it at home. The best feature as I mentioned before is the rope which allows you to hang the speaker for anywhere. My daughter loves to hand it on her backpack and listen to music while hiking or on a walk. This speaker hanging on the outside of a backpack will sound better than the Bose which has to sit inside the backpack.

I love my UE Roll! I purchased it as a summertime music source and it has exceeded my expectations. I had hampered expectations for a speaker this size: I figured volume, bass and sound would be decent at best but I was pleasantly surprised. This speaker is much louder and has better sound than any speaker of comparable size. Bass is not great but the quality of highs and mids more than make up for the lack of bass. Battery life is very good, I've gotten about 3 hours straight out of the speaker when blasting at full volume the entire time. Moderate volume has yielded me about 7 hours. Great speaker from a great producer, especially for the money!

I like the looks of this speaker and the sound is really good for a speaker of this size and in this price range; it cannot be beat! This is waterproof so no worries taking it out in the wild or in the shower. Having two is great since the software allows for them to be linked . It Could ideally have more base but let's face it that just can't be expected in speakers of this size. Excellent volume and rich sound otherwise.

I bought 5 of these and gave them as groomsman gifts. Everybody liked them but 2 had to be exchanged. The rubber flap that covers the charging and input port wouldn't stay closed. They are not super loud but sounded much better at full volume than similar priced alternatives. The bungee strap is really nice to hang it from a cabinet handle in a camper or strap it to the arm of a camp chair next to the fire. Also, if you're looking for a lot of bass you're not going to get it from this speaker but what do you expect from something this size?

I love the small compact size and awesome sound. I wish it maybe had a little more bass sound but what can I expect from such a small size. I like its ease of use and portability it's also made of good quality and has a clear crisp sound.

I had previously bought the UE Megaboom and wanted a smaller companion speaker for travel. The sound is quality though not much bass, especially compared to the Megaboom. I found that the speaker strap works great for puttin on a golf cart, which is where I've used it predominantly. I haven't yet tested its water proof feature.

The roll is what it is. An ultra cool little speaker that has a decent sound. Bass is not real low nor did I expect it to be. I wish battery life was little longer but I can deal with it.

I love these speakers. I've been able to use them in the shower, outside while bbq'ing, and at the lake while fishing in my Kayak, as they are water resistant. A single speaker gets loud and sounds great, but when you have them connected as a set, they are awesome! My only complaint would be that the batteries, which are rechargeable, do not last for long playing times. All in all though, they are great speakers, great sound, not a whole lot of bass, but music sounds crisp and clear.

Great mid and highs. Not a ton of bass. But the best quality vs versatility and rugged portability. So I bought another and the stereo quality is Awesome!

Pros: Probably the best portable sound you can get, best of all it fits in the palm of your hand and is waterproof!! Im not a fan of the whole "skinny jeans" fashion so my pants fit the way they suppose too, this little speaker fits in my pocket! Great quality, Great sound... Cons: Bass could be a little better, and time it takes to recharge!

Sound quality is pretty good, not much bass, but it's a small speaker to keep your expectations in check there anyway. Connected very easily to my iPhone 6 and reconnecting each morning is as easy as turning the speaker on. One gripe is there is no way to skip forward a song. Not a deal-killer, just a minor annoyance.

I ordered this speaker to use out by the pool and when I'm in the shower. It's loud, durable and easy to use. Bass is lacking at higher volumes, but it's not a deal breaker.

I bought this for my nephew and he really likes it. It's durable for younger kids which was a big reason to purchase it. The sound is great, but don't expect a whole lot of bass out of it. It's just ok on that part.

It's nice that it's water resistant, but it's not water proof. It also lacks in the bass category. I bought my wife a Bose Soundlink mini a few years back and that sounds much better but it was also twice as much. If you want something that sounds great shop around.

I got the speaker expecting more, but don't get me wrong - it's still a good speaker. The sound quality is great, but it lacks bass. The volume can go pretty loud for a small space. It has a sturdy build.

The sound is clear with little base. It is loud enough if your cycling and prefer not to be shut out of the world by wearing earphones. The built in bungee cord makes this speaker very flexible to attach it to almost anything. Using the UE Roll app enables the speaker to be used as a wakeup alarm and also "Double Up" with another UE Roll. There isnt separate buttons to skip/back/pause, only volume up/down.

In general vey good speaker with clear audio quality. Big volume buttons and hook are great features. Only wished it a had a little more bass, even with changing the equalizer settings.
