Well I like Uniden products, I have CB radios. This scanner is mostly to hear weather alerts, as I live in Tornado Alley. It's a lot to learn how to use this, but weather stuff was easy. All instructions were online only. PDF I downloaded. A nice scanner ,but a bit complicated still learning

The scanner works fine. The only complaint that I have is that they put a computer disk in the package. I have a computer but I prefer a printed booklet. I'm a senior so remembering programming instructions as I go back and forth from my computer to my scanner sometimes takes several trips. With a booklet I can stand in front of my scanner and get it right the first time.

I have a 25 year old Radio Shack scanner that still works but is very outdated. The new digital ones cost an arm and a leg. This analog one does most of what I need and that is listening to amateur radio repeaters, frs, gmrs and aviation.
Several reviews mention the complexity of this radio so I was prepared, there are good sources of information all over internet, but no one source has all the information. It is a good radio with interesting capabilities. I gave it a 4 because most people are expecting a scanner that covers digital modes and because the online manual on Uniden's site is absolutely useless. Uniden should do a better job providing documentation.
I would recommend it to people who understand that this isn't a digital scanner.

for the price this is a truly excellent scanner. It works just as well as some of the far more expensive units we have purchased. This is the fifth of this model and all work well. Audio quality is good, easy to program.

Has a learning curve but once you learn to use this scanner it works very well and has many features. If you like plug and play this may not be for you but if you like to tinker you will love this scanner. For the money it don't get much better than this.

BCT 15X Scanner How to program.

I just recently brought this scanner, mainly because the other scanners I own, were not sensitive enough to pick up the railroads which are mainly what I listen to, plus the local and state police.
I would recommend anyone buying this scanner, and watch a few youtube programs on how to program this scanner, The programs were a great help, There is a slight learning curve in programing this scanner. Once you figure out how to program it, it all becomes easy.

You need to have a PHD in computer science to program this scanner. Who ever designed this scanner did not do so using a practical thought process. I returned it!!!
