This game is fantastic, from the get go it is able to build the suspense and as it keeps going it just makes you more nervous as you are conflicted with every decision you make. This truly shows what a next gen console is as the graphics are on point. The controllers could do with being a little better, however, it throws back to the days of silent hill when actually a difficult controller added to the atmosphere and pressure. Overall is a pretty fantastic game and recommend buying for those horror fans out there.

I played through this game with a group of friends over the course of a few nights (it's a short game, but don't worry-it's all quality and highly replayable) and we had an absolute blast being terrified and making several do-or-die decisions. We found the story both satisfyingly silly (a la campy teen slasher flicks) as well as authentically scary and well written. If you're a fan of horror (games or movies), I recommend grabbing a few friends, turning down the lights, and checking this one out!

Ever watched a scarey movie and be like "ooooh no! Don't go in there!!!!" But they never listen? Well now you can make them listen! Every decision you make in this game has a consequence...for better or worse. I'm assuming the ultimate goal is to get everyone out ALIVE. The story is amazing, voiced and acted out by REAL actors and the graphics are some of Sonys best! Hope they make another game with the same concept! And with Best Buys Gamers Club unlocked, I got the greatest deal ever! Thanks BB!

Finished the game in two days. If you play the game alone in the dark, be prepared to be really scared. This game made me jumped so many times. The story was great. The characters all have their unique personalities that you instantly will like and unlike them. You can control who to survive the terror. Save them all, save some and kill some, or kill them all... it is completely up to you. I really enjoyed the game. It was fun and entertaining. Great graphic, story, music, and voiceover. Highly recommend!

If you are a fan of adventure games or choose your own adventure novels, then this game is right up your alley. Most of the gameplay is made up of choices in how to react to situations or people, both through dialogue and physical reactions. The game plays out differently based on a number of choices you make. Some characters will live and die based on your choices. the only con I can think of is that early on the game leans way too heavy into jump scares. That aside it is a fun story with a lot of replay.

This was a blind buy for me. It caught my eye in the store and I had not really read anything on it before. I was surprised how well the story was done and I rather enjoyed going through it. The replay value is relatively low though. Once you figure out that your choices only affect the story to a small degree (who lives and dies, the story pretty much stays the same regardless) it makes another play through just seem tedious. Still if you get a chance to play this, either by renting it or finding it cheap somewhere, it is worth playing through once. The graphics, story, sound, and controls are all excellent.

I love horror games, from silent hill to resident evil to more obscure titles like clock tower/fatal frame. So when I read about Until dawn I was interested. I would say this game is similar to heavy rain as far as gameplay style. A lot of quick time events and player choice impacts the story. It reminded me of a classic horror movie from the 80s. I had low expectations and was really surprised how much I really enjoyed this game. I even started a second play through. I highly recommend this game!

The actual gameplay of this one can basically be summed up as quick time events mixed with some Telltale Games-like choices, but the story is just soooooo good. If you are a fan of slasher movies from the 80s & 90s this is a must have game. Plus, at long last this is a game where your choices actually seem to matter and change the course of the game, thus requiring multiple play-throughs to see what would of happened is you picked A instead of B, if you ran fro the front door when the killer was chasing you, or went up the stairs, etc. For those reasons, this game is well worth a get.

If you ever played Heavy Rain, you will be familiar with this kind of game. It's more an exploratory game with Quick Time Events and Quick Decision Events that change the course of the story (firmly planted in the realm of a slasher-type movie) until the end. Your actions change who lives or dies, and the story continues on, even if the character you control dies at the end of the scene. It's a pretty fun playthrough, definitely for adults (strong language and violence, some mature situations), but I fear I will tire of it quickly. But this is definitely an experience you should try.

I finished my first play-through about twenty minutes ago, and I was not disappointed. Half of my team died and it freakin' bugs me. I am a long time fan of games like "Silent Hill" (mostly the first three) and other games that promise a scare. However, it has been a long time since I felt anything actually delivered on that promise, but this one did it. What's more, once you complete it there are tons of alternate branching paths that I'm already wondering about and looking forward to playing through again. I can see this as the kind of game that I will do an annual play through around Halloween simply because there's so much to see and so many things that can change with each attempt. It has a few weaknesses, but not enough for me to want to detract from its score. The constant F-Bombs towards the end began to get farcical to me. It's not that I expect squeaky clean language when you're getting hacked to death, but I think too much and you actually get less realistic and it pulls me out of the horror. At the same time though, I get that it's a riff on teen horror movies and that's kind of par for the course in those. Many out there won't be troubled by this complaint of mine one bit. Finally, without spoiling anything I felt the writers tried TOO hard to be clever with their plot and added too much complexity. I can see the desire to do so to keep the game feeling deep and worth repeats, but the simpler tale it started as was much more terrifying to me. Your mileage may vary. All that aside, this is an awesome game and a great change of pace from shooting something in the head all day everyday. Especially with Halloween approaching, this thing will set the mood right.

I was really glad that I grabbed this game. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but the overall reviews were right on the money. The graphics are amazing and it's very easy to follow. The storyline is great. The game plays sort of like a choose your own adventure which is a nice twist. When you replay you can choose different options for characters. It's overall a creepy feel, which I love. You won't be disappointed with adding this to your collection.

Great game with a lot of replayability. Bottom line here is that you can play this game over and over and take different paths to different outcomes for the characters. Great game and totally worth the price. If you love horror games this is an easy game to pickup and get going with. Not much of the normal shooting that is usually associated with horror these days, this plays more like a movie and is also great to watch if you have others around.

This is a must have for any horror/slasher movie fan, the life like graphics & creepy atmosphere stand out as one of the ps4's best looking games so far. It's like you are controlling a horror movie that's based on eight friends on a secluded mountain retreat. Making choices that could result in many different scenarios, to decide their fate. So without any spoiler's... Turn out the lights, get ready for some jump scares and try to keep everyone alive Until Dawn

Until Dawn received some high praise upon release- but, it still seems criminally out of people's game libraries. I'm hoping to rectify that by giving it the highest praise I can give. Quite simply, (even in a year with COD, MGS5, etc on the books) it's my personal game of the year. With added horsepower of PS4, upgraded graphics and bigger lands to explore are to be expected. Until Dawn proves that all that extra under the PS4s hood can be used for better storytelling, and, by proxy, better (and more) consequences to your decisions. UD's biggest selling points are in two areas- realistic rendering of actual actors (on par with Quantic Dream, who most recently is responsible for the great Beyond Two Souls) and reactions to choices made hours earlier. A group of young friends gather at an old skiing lodge on the anniversary of their friends' (2 sisters) deaths. Things quickly unravel as the group is picked off one by one... Or attempted to be slain- all based on your decisions... In a "Saw" like fashion. With a murderer on the loose, they may not see the real terror on the mountaintops. UD doesn't offer the action of a COD or freedom to roam like GTA- it has a story to tell, but within that story there are thousands of choices & repercussions to make and to face. Very few story-driven games make you realize that whatever may happen to you, it's due to the decisions you made along the way. This is the area where games have room to innovate- adding more enemies on a screen or more square footage to a land is simply a given by-product- and the makers of UD came out swinging. And while it's like playing a great horror movie, it must be remembered that it IS horror- blood will be spilled, with much more realism. Not a game for the youngsters!

I did not know much about this game before I bought it aside that it's a story driven game that allows you to chose how the story unfold. This had me sold. After playing and finishing the game, I found myself amazed at how much it reminded me of different 90's horror films that I enjoy and grew up with. I would say give this game a chance if you are a fan of horror movies, or if you just want a good game to play where you can control how the story will end.

What can I say about this game? It is simply incredible. It literally is like playing a cheesy 80's B horror movie on your PS4. It never takes itself seriously when it shouldn't and it is even funny and comforting in some ways. The controls are unique without being broken, the graphic are lifelike without being creepy, and the voice acting is on point. This really is the definition of a cult classic gem and I can only hope everyone can pick this game up.

A unique take on the horror genre which is always compelling, legitimately scary, extremely well acted. With branching paths, decision trees, and multiple endings, this one is worth several playthroughs and gives you a ton of bang for your gaming buck. Note to Telltale and David Cage: this is how you make a story based adventure. Can't wait for the sequel!
