I like the storyline, exploring old London. The graphics and combat simulation leave something to be desired. I have only played on storyline level. Bought it on BB DOD, worth the money!

Tried this on gamepass, ended up by the ps4 version for a steal at $20. The writing is fantastic, the voice acting is superb, the story is interesting, atmosphere is mostly perfect, and the game ends on a very dramatic although abrupt note. The gameplay, though basic, is very fun. Problems revolve around awkward pacing towards the end surrounding the story/twist, enemies lvl with you creating some awkward difficulty spikes, and playing as a good character can limit your characters stats unless you do every side mission.

play the game for the excellent story and incredible atmosphere. very few games have such an impressive system where literally every Non-playable Character (NPC) has an actual story and a role to play in the game world. The decisions whether to feed on/kill an NPC or not were always tough. Overall the story, characters and atmosphere are top notch. On the down side, the fighting is a hit and miss. The enemies a lot of the times are too frustrating, in part because of the way I was playing (not feeding on NPCs, thus less powers I had) but some bosses are flat out cheap. The game always likes to throw a bunch of enemies at once. I wouldn't call it a very hard game but sometimes I felt the fighting was just getting in the way of the fun I was having with the excellent story. Lastly I must mention that the game suffers from technical problems, freezing are quite common and the loading times are bad. Is this game worth getting then? yes if just to experience the story and NPC system but the frustrating combat/enemies and technical problems might just be enough to ruin someone's enjoyment...so it might also be a good idea to wait a little and see if the devs fix these problems with a patch or two.

Story
Dontnod calls Vampyr a AA production. While true that the game has rough spots, its overall polish is greater than several AAA titles seen this year. I expect nothing less than stellar of Dontnod when it comes to writing. They have a knack for creating an entire world for their games worthy of the silver screen. Vampyr mixes real world history with traditional vampire lore and creates something fresh. Even issues of race are touched upon. I was really happy to see things like that were not shied away from. London's mysteries wait to be unraveled and you will enjoy the experience.
Gameplay
While doing nothing new, Vampyr employs a gameplay design befitting the action RPG genre. You cannot run into combat Rambo-style and expect to survive. strategizing before and during combat will yield the best results. I would have like a bit more stealth as you are a creature of the shadows. The gameplay does employ a fair amount of talking; do not mistake this as a pure action title. The talking goes a long way for player immersion as you will truly feel the lives you may be taking.
Graphics & Sound
The graphics are one of the few cavities in the teeth of Vampyr. Fight animation is smooth, level and character design are great, but some areas just look dated. The in-game visuals also do not live up to those of cutscenes, giving a very PS3/360 feel. PC will obviously look better, but you will still be able to see flaws like wobbly characters during conversation. The music and voice acting are both top notch, but loading can interfere with music. There is also the sticking point that NPCs may repeat dialogue and make no sense. For example, Nurse Crane repeats the same dialogue outside your office as when she first welcomes you to Pembroke. Thankfully, that is about as much as I can report in terms of bugs or glitches.
Bottom Line: If you game on PC, PS4 or Xbox One, Vampyr should be in your collection.

This is a very fun vampire game, which we don't get a lot of these days. The story is great and choices always matter which I really like. The ending or endings aren't that great but everything leading up to it is. The gameplay is fun if a little chunky as is the combat which can be hard to get use to but I ended up enjoying it after awhile. The graphics are passable nothing special but get the job done. Then there's the voice acting which I would say is great for the most part, and which parts are bad are at least funny. A game which has problems buy I couldn't help but enjoy to the fullest, overall a package I must recommend.

Vampyr is a tremendous achievement considering the budget developers, DONTNOD Entertainment, had to work with. The graphics I would say are a solid 7.5 with faces being more around 8.5/9. It's London and the environment portrayed in Vampyr that makes the game shine visually. The story is engaging and forces the player to make meaningful decisions that hold consequences. The dialogue with citizens within the game can begin to be too much at times, but the information and knowledge gained on them is interesting and intriguing enough that I went through full interactions with them to get the most information I could. Overall, it is a great single player story based experience that one should not pass on.

Combat, narrative, atmosphere, world altering decisions, are all unique. The game is a bit short, though, and on higher difficulties is harder than Dark Souls.

I really like this game and think I would like it more when the upcoming patch comes out. I wasn't a huge fan of the fighting in it but really loved how the story and world plays out depending on your encounters with its inhabitants. I didn't try it, but you can also play as a blood thirsty vampire and just kill everyone. I enjoyed the interactions more and tried not to kill anyone that didn't deserve it. The upcoming patch is supposed to tailor to those that want to focus on the story and another option that would focus on the combat. So, its a good game either way, just not great.

This game wasn't AMAZING but it was still a delight to play. I found the locations to me well made and the story was actually pretty interesting.
Some people were attracted to the game thinking it played like Dark Souls and it does slightly, but I would not call it a 'Soulsborne' game. It borrows some ideas and is a solid action adventure game.

I purchased this game on a whim, never heard of it, just looked cool. It’s a solid game. Great gameplay and the story is creative and fun as well. It has a very dark tone to it which is awesome. The bosses are hard, which is good and I’m still playing it two years later! Highly recommend.

For some reason video game companies don't really make vampire game and that a shame. This Vampire game gotten bitten while he was dying and he is a doctor so he fight his urges for blood unless he know this is a bad person. He tries to find cure for other diseases, but along the the way in London where the game take place in the 1800's he also have to fight werewolves and other vampires. It's really cool game if you like horror and vampire games. They are currently making a sequel to the game.

Vampyr is a dark dramatic story of a doctor turned vampire in turn of the century London, where the player gets to choose how the story unfolds for our character. Will you keep the Hippocratic oath and try to save as many lost souls as you can or will you give in to your newfound powers and feed on the citizens of the city. The story and the characters are both well executed and unique the only flaws I see with the game are; combat is a little simplified for a game of this play-style and you are unable to fast-travel across the relatively large map. All in all good game, and anyone looking for a more story driven game where your choices carry weight and stay with you throughout the game I recommend trying this game out.

The closest we'll get to a Vampire the Masquerade in this day and age.
It's a an action RPG with an intricate dialogue system and a city health system tied down to the health of its citizens.
You can only kill characters by having a higher LV, hypnotizing them and sucking their blood. The more info you know about each citizen the more XP you are rewarded if you kill them. On the other hand you can fight and do quest and get XP that way.
This is an excelent example of a AA game that is only held back by some weirs choices. Like the fact that you character can't jump or traverse the xity through the rooftops, instead you have to press a button and the right time on the right spot in order to jump up a balcony or any other platform.
All in all the game is great and should be supported. They tried something new and succeeded for the most part.
Get it.
Cheers.

This isn't a AAA quality game, but by no means does that make it bad. Vampyr is an RPG focusing on choice; choice on who you kill or spare, and the choices you make during dialogue and quests.
It's combat isn't amazing, but it's serviceable. And it's usually fun to use your vampiric superpowers to deal with the various threats stalking the streets of London at night.
There are some significant issues with load times, so I'd recommend getting this for the most powerful system you have (PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, high-end PC).
In spite of its flaws, I'd still recommend it. We need more B-games like this that are willing to experiment a bit, and provide us with new experiences.

It's a little bit different and some parts drag on a little, but it's something different and I like it a lot. Once you master the combat it's a lot of fun and I like the setting and characters. Check it out!
