Decent Unit to Get Audio into Your PC

As laptops get smaller, the amount of interface ports to plug-things-in are disappearing. This box is perfect for people like me who want to record our old vinyl or other audio into a laptop that has no audio input. It takes your analog audio and lets you plug into USB. It works great! HOWEVER... It doesn't seem to work in all USB ports. I discovered that it must be connected to the Enhanced Host Controller USB port, or it doesn't work. I luckily found this port the first time I tested it. Sadly, when I really needed it to work, I used a different port, and it didn't work. It almost got repacked and returned until I did a little reading. I'm actually ok with this and still give it 4 stars. Also, I think the price is rather high for this box. I'd still recommend it because it does exactly what I need it to do. Despite that quirk, it does it well.

I had an earlier version that came with a VCR but the VCR gave out. This was a replacement that I needed my own VCR for. Good working VCRs are getting very hard to come by so I am glad I got this now. The copy process is VERY easy but the editing took some time to learn and get use to. It is in real time so a 6 hour video takes 6 hours. Some glitches include on family videos it will sometimes stop recording thinking it is a copy protected video and I'm not sure why. I start over and it works? If you still have videos to save this is a good but time consuming way to go.

This does convert video into digital format. It's not quite lossless, but certainly acceptable quality.
The provided software is needlessly frustrating, especially when it comes to converting the transfer from their proprietary format into a regular standard. But there aren't a lot of reasonably priced choices. It works.

Software comes in 2 versions, 9 and 12. I have Windows 10 and found that version 9 worked, while 12 did not. End of the day, I was able to transfer old tapes to DVD.

Easy to use - side note, make sure the heads on the vcr or camcorder etc... are clean before u record so that way you don't end up with any white fuzz or snow in the picture!

I have not used the device yet, but needed to use Rewards certificates before they expired. Always wanted to get one of these to convert our tapes. Will report back once I have time to use it.

Tried to install this product on two HP Laptops running Windows 10. One an Intel i5 processor, the other an AMD 10. The PowerDirector 9 (very old version) software provided with this product DOES NOT support Windows 10. Couldn't get the software to run on either of the machines, and in communicating with Cyberlink (software vendor) they indicated that PD9 was not supportive of Win 10. Eventually got the software loaded but on the i5 machine, it wouldn't recognize the VHS as an input, and on the AMD machine the software wouldn't even start up.
Long story short.. not worth the effort over the three days I spent conversing with the tech support people at Cyberlink (software) and ION (hardware). Returned the product and will find something that runs on Windows 10 and supports my existing drivers.

Have Mac Book Pro, although saying works with Mac in truth you've got to read the print again and find it isn't made to work with a Mac. This is for Windows only.

I owned a previous version and this one was far superior. It takes time but the results are great! I have tried other methods but am VERY happy with this one. Finding a good working VCR was probably the most difficult part of the process.

The CyberLink software for the media player is very difficult to maneuver around therefore I give it three stars I wish it would be a little bit more player friendly

I am sure that this product is good for what it was designed for, but, unfortunately it did not work on my VCR. If i read the fine print correctly inside the box, it is only good for making discs with the program. I tried three times to get it to work with my Sony VCR, i could not get it to work after loading the program. It does not copy VHS to PC then go disc. If it does, maybe somebody can help me, or the people that have looked at this product. Otherwise, if the reader wants my opinion, don't buy this unless you are getting it to download you camcorder, or making discs from your PC.
