Had the set for a week and with some messing around with the settings I am blown away by the picture. The blacks are the best I've ever seen on a IPS panel and of course it has good viewing angles. The colors pop off the screen and I notice no lag during gaming and minimal motion blur. My first Vizio set and I am very impressed Great replacement to my Panasonic Plasma

    Great TV

I've had the set for 4 days now and so far I'm loving it. I upgraded from a 6 year old 42" Sharp AQUOS 1080P LED to this and everything looks clear and amazing. I love the tablet it comes with and it was a big selling point for me. I can use it or any other phone or tablet to cast to the TV. I've tried Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, and HBO Now on my 300 Mb/s connection and all look great including Hulu and Crackle despite only broadcasting in 720P. Despite reviews that criticize the TV's ability to upscale 720P content, I believe they did a good job and have no complaints about the appearance. Lastly, I used the digital copy of Mad Max I purchased through VUDU to test the full potential of the display and the picture was stunning. The only criticism I may have regarding the television is that the included tablet (or any other connected device) seems to lose connection after long periods of time. I usually have to use the included mini remote to turn on the TV before they sync back up. Some may consider that a big deal, but I think of it as only a minor annoyance, not worth a full star.

I bought the 55" two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with this TV. Proir to my purchase I was reading other reviewers concerns about picture quality because it's not a VA panel it's an Ips panel, and their biggest concern was black levels. Well all I can say is the black levels are fantastic probably because of the excellent local dimming. So if your still on the fence about the 55" don't worry, trust this TV produces a beautiful picture whether for movies, or sports. Pull the trigger.

This TV looks pretty good out of the box. It hurt my eyes a lot and gave me headaches the first few days until I turned the backlight way down.. I had to pull the power plug 12 times the first day I had it due to it freezing and having other issues. I had to manually update the firmware via USB since the TV would crash just checking for updates every time. Once the firmware was updated it became far more stable, but the casting features completely stopped working. Vizio support could not figure it out. I'm sure it's just a software bug. I spent several days messing with it as well to no avail. I decided to keep it and see if a future firmware update fixes that issue. It works great if you're just using HDMI devices and don't care about the "smart"/casting features. I imagine in a few months this TV will be fantastic once all us beta testers flush out the issues for everyone else.

I have been reading about the P series for the past couple months and decided to bite the bullet and order a P55. I am not disappointed in the least. This is the best TV I have owned and definitely the best quality Vizio I've owned. I upgraded from an M50 from 3 or 4 years ago. The difference in picture quality is astounding. For those concerned about the IPS display on this model, don't be. The FALD backlighting more than makes up for the IPS and it's brighter blacks. The blacks on this TV make it seem like that portion of the screen is completely off. If you're eyeing an OLED TV, don't bother until the price comes down. The Vizio P series is more than sufficient if you're looking for a TV that can perform up there with any other higher end brand. 100% satisfied with Vizio yet again.

The tv feels like every dollar was focused on the display itself which is a great thing when you are looking for picture quality. However it does leave a lot to be desired. The idea of using google cast is great but it fails to preform in my opinion. Not sure who is to blame but some apps work better than others and casting from iOS has been really buggy for me. Casting works best from android but using the Vizio menu works best with iOS. I defintely would not recommend this tv if you are looking to cast videos to your tv like plex or Netflix as a primary source of video feed. However, any hdmi source such as directv, ps4, or bluray player would work great. This is my first Vizio purchase and I'm quite pleased with it so far.

When I first saw that the tv came with a tablet as the remote I was intrigued. It does many things well, picture quality, picture customization, casting. I have had no issues using the casting button, besides trying to stream Pluto TV 4K. When paired and using a 4K DV HDR source , like Marco Polo on Netflix, or The Great Gatsby on VUDU this TV is amazing. The feed for direct tv can be hit or miss, but that's the nature with 720p and 1080i outputs.

Took me awhile to get the picture settings to my liking, but once that happened I couldn't be more pleased. Coming from a plasma I was searching for a TV with excellent black levels. This accomplishes that goal and more. 4K content and 1080p content look tremendous. 720p/cable looks good, although a little "soft" if the source is mediocre to begin with. The tablet remote is a really good idea and the built in Chromecast makes casting content from a mobile device or computer very easy and intuitive. I have actually grown to love the tablet more than traditional remote. The simple remote that comes with it does the trick for volume/switching inputs/switching picture settings too. Very good for gaming too with low input lag. This set has more accurate color settings compared to the Samsung models as well.

    Lots of bugs

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

There are good things about this tv, and there are bad things. I'm assuming that it is just too new to have these bugs worked out, but they can be very bothersome. As for Pros, the picture is very good. From what I've been able to see in Best Buy on their wall (most of which are last years models or discontinued it seems) you will probably spend around $1800 or more to get a television with an equally good picture. The frame also looks nice and it isn't as thick as other models in the same price range (I paid $1299.99). Plenty of options in the settings menu to calibrate the picture to fit your needs as well. Now the Cons. One big one is that you will not be watching anything in 4K if you only buy this item. All of the apps are android based and are cast using Googlecast to the television, meaning that you won't see anything above 1080p. And if you've used a chromecast before you know that it's a good picture, but slightly less quality than streaming through an hdmi cable. I purchased the Roku 4 and I can now see that the the 4K picture is very good. On a related note, if you have an android based smartphone, you probably won't use the tablet remote. It is exactly what it says, an android tablet that you can cast to the screen exactly like you can with your phone or tablet. And as others have stated, the tablet remote can sometimes have issues connecting to the tv. My issues have all been with the bluetooth connection though. Wi-Fi seems to keep it connected fine. Now for the bugs. I have spent some time working with technical support and hopefully they find a solution to my main problem. That being that the tv somehow changes the aspect ratio and resolution of devices that it is connected to (with CEC turned off). It does odd things with the picture in these instances as well, for example, with my cable box it will zoom the picture to only show the top 1/4 of the shot, then change from 16:9 1080p to 4:3 480p. The only way to correct it is to reboot everything. It does similar things when using the cast feature. Also, sometimes after turning the tv off it will not come back on for several minutes. The tablet remote freezes when you hit the power button within the Smartcast app, and it doesn't respond to the mini remote either. I am only giving it 3 stars due to the bugs. Should they fix those I would give it 4 stars due to the issue with no 4K apps on the tv itself. If they don't fix those, well, I won't be keeping this tv and I'll be back to the drawing board.

    Amazing TV

The picture quality on this TV is pretty incredible. It's obviously at its best when you have a 4K HDR source, but standard 4K and 1080p content still look great on this. I love the tablet remote and once you get used to Google Casting everything to the TV I found that to be a lot more intuitive than using some built in TV app because you're just working the app you already know on your phone. The built-in speakers aren't that great, but if you're looking at a TV like this a soundbar or surround sound system is pretty much a must. I wish I could rate this 4.5 stars, not 5. I chose 5 stars because the issues I'm having with this TV seem fixable. The audio cuts out sometimes on me and Google Cast is pretty consistent, but does not always do what it should. These are all issues that can be fixed via software/firmware updates, so I'm not going to degrade my rating because of that. I've already seen one update from Vizio since I owned the TV and it seems like they are staying on top of it.

I had a Sony XBR55ZX850C on order from BestBuy when this TV was announced. I cancelled that order and placed a new order for the P55-C1 and I definitely made the correct decision. Two things in particular make this TV stand out compared to the competition in my mind. Black levels and motion handling. My last TV was a Panasonic plasma, so I am used to excellent blacks and super smooth motion. This is the first and only LCD LED TV I have ever seen that approaches plasma-like blacks and motion smoothness. This is a phenomenal movie and sports TV. I also play a fair amount of video games on both PC and xbox one. Xbox one looks great and the gaming mode certainly helps make everything feel snappy with low input lag. If the gaming mode reduces picture quality at all I can't tell, but the increase in responsiveness is definitely noticeable. The absolute killer feature of this TV is the magic that happens on HDMI 5 when you plug a gaming PC in. 1080p@120hz with extremely low input lag AND the ability to do 4k@60hz is almost unmatched even in the PC monitor space. In fact, this TV could be considered a bargain in the high resolution and refresh rate PC monitor space when you account for size. The tablet remote works pretty well, and you can install the smartcast app on any android or iOS device you already own. Pretty neat. I have had the TV for almost a month now and couldn't be happier. Sports and in particular hockey look phenomenal and movies look great. Definitely go for the 55" and up models to get the higher native refresh rate. Vizio says the 50" does 120hz but that relies on backlight strobing. The 55" and up models do true 120hz screen refresh rate, and then you have the option to turn on the backlight strobing to increase the effective refresh rate to 240hz. That feature decrease contrast though as the backlight is off more frequently. I don't enable it.

    Great Theater Display

I was hesitant on buying this display especially because on multiple sites I saw some bad reviews on picture quality and the tablet remote feature. This review are for those that were in the same boat that I was. I got the 55 inch display and wish I would've waited to get the 65 inch display. The picture quality is so great on this TV I found myself watching Disney movies just to look at the colors and how well the TV did with out blurring or bleeding colors like some other negative reviews said. I recommend looking up resolution settings online from those that know what they are doing when getting displays like this. I could not adjust it by eye, especially with all the settings it had. The tablet remote is AMAZING. Unsure why people hold this as a negative to this display. I recommend having a fast internet connection as the display and the tablet will both be using the WIFI. I think the negative reviews on this is not because of the display but because of a slow internet package with the user. If you are looking at this display seriously make sure you have the WIFI speed needed for it to work smoothly. I have 150mbs and found this to work exceptionally well. No buffer screen as others have said and the remote connects instantly! Don't let the negative reviews get to you like it almost did to me. This is an exceptional display and very easy to use. In a world where there is almost a tablet in every home this should be very easy to pick up. I hope this review helped, I can rave on this display all day but the excellence is in the work. A 4k display of this caliber should cost more than what it is here.

I bought this TV after extensive research online (cnet, rtings, etc...) and I have to say this this TV has totally lived up to my expectations. It got some really great reviews and I completely agree with them. The picture is incredible and everything from 4k to my PS4 to live cable tv looks great. I have no complaints about the picture quality. The blacks look amazing. This is an IPS panel so it might not be quite as great as the 50" or 65" , but don't be fooled, the blacks are great. The active LED zones work so well and this tv has super deep blacks. Not only does this tv look amazing in a dark room, but the backlight is incredible and looks great in a bright room with minimal glare on the screen. The sound on this tv is way better than I expected. Don't get me wrong, it's a tv speaker so it's not great, but I have no issues watching things with the tv speakers. I am planning on getting the vizier 5.1 sound bar, but I am not in that big if a rush because the tv sound is not as appalling as some of the reviews I read about it said it would be. This TV is future proof with all the latest and greatest 4k and HDR and I love that. It has 5 HDMIs which is also great. It doesn't have a built in tuner, but honestly thats not a big deal. If you have cable, you have zero reason to worry, and if not, they sell really great receiver boxes for antennas that even have built in DVRs to them on amazon for $30. So it's a non issue and it cuts down on costs and thickness so I like the choice. The tablet is interesting. I think it has a ton of potential and with more use will be awesome. I am still getting used to it and its a bit gimmicky, but I have no real complaints other than the fact that the tablet currently won't recognize my TV when it's off and it can't turn it on. And it's a bit of a hassle, but mainly I use the dumb remote to turn the tv on and change the volume and input anyways. My Apple TV and PS4 both turn on the TV and change it to the right HDMI input when turned on so in those cases I don't even deal with the remote. I really only use the tablet to change settings and watch netflix in 4k. I use my apple tv to watch everything else basically and use the PS4 for Amazon Prime cause the casting and apple tv don't support them currently. Also the casting has no issues. Since it downloads to the tv, there is no weird lag or loss of quality which is great. Also , Vizio seems to be doing a great job of updating the tv and tablet software frequently so it's a great sign that it will only get better! Bottom line is that this TV is wonderful and for the price, you can't beat it. Not even close. So do yourself a favor and don't be a brand snob and get this amazing Vizio TV.

I read many spec sheets, reviews, and comparison charts before choosing this TV. I was looking for a 4k TV that I could also use as a PC monitor. I am beyond happy that I bought this TV for that reason. Lowest input lag on the market for TV and performs great both at 4k 60hz and 1080p 120hz. I was worried about the IPS display vs VA of the other vizio p series tvs but it still performs just as good. 10/10 would buy again

You will not be disappointed at all

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Unless you're willing to spend 2-1/2 to 3 times more for an OLED display, you won't find a better picture or bargain combined in one set. The IPS display only on the 55-inch P-series is perfect for those who have seats on the periphery, where color and contrast just don't exist on the VA panels of the other models. The main thing to remember when you get any of the P-series is: "Standard" picture mode is the out-of-the-box default; it needs to be set to "Calibrated" on every input. Period. It's a shame Standard is default, because that's probably what you'll see in the store (unless you get the tablet in the store to change it -- ha!). Also, turn on Clear Action and Active LED Zones, and set Reduce Judder and Reduce Motion Blur to 1. All other settings can be modified to taste, but these get things where it needs to be. Setting up the P is relatively simple for those who are "minimally technology-aware", i.e. my 87-year-old parents probably would have trouble with it. They also would not understand the concept of "casting" at all, and do not have an internet speed good enough (25mbps or better). Throw in one of the new Vizio smartcast soundbars, and it gets a bit hairy. When connecting the two with HDMI ARC, things don't quite work as expected, and I had serious trouble. The solution was to simply hook up the soundbar with the optical connection, after which everything worked spectacularly. Perhaps a future firmware update to the P or the soundbar will fix the ARC issues, but I don't see ARC as necessary or very useful at this point. On a 75mbps FiOS connection, all the casting apps work very well, better than I expected (not much of a Google fan). I've not had any streams interrupted or resolution downgraded at any time over the past month. If you own an iPhone, you will definitely want to use it for casting instead of the Android-based tablet: although it's ok, the apps still work better on iOS. About those "rtings.com" and other sites who review tv/monitors with a fine-toothed comb and pick tiny little nits: face it, you're only going to have one set in your room, and won't be directly comparing other sets side-by-side once you get it. You are NOT going to see or notice any of the nearly imperceptible differences those sites bring out that will cause you to wonder whether "this one" or "that one" is better. Ony thing I can agree with is that the sound on all flat panels of any manufacturer is so bad, you'll need to figure in the cost of at least a stereo soundbar just to hear anything. This set will not allow you to play any video, 4k or not, from a USB drive plugged into one of the two ports (one of which is USB3, oddly...). Previous Vizio models would do this, but the capability is not there (yet?... with a firmware update?...). So, I guess you're stuck with uploading 4k iPhone content to Vimeo or YouTube so you can cast it. No apps I tried that claimed you could cast directly from the camera roll actually worked, sadly. One viewing of a 4K Dolby Vision HDR movie will have you convinced there is no better LCD-based set for the money than the P-series (other than the Reference $eries). Now that they've been firmware-upgraded to support HDR10, this set is as "future-proof" as it gets. :)

My first display I ordered/picked up was DOA. Best Buy ordered second one from Vizio which took two weeks and was delivered free of charge while picking up dead one. This one I have had 2 months and had display lock up once where I had to unplug from power and it was restored to full function. Tablet occasionally a little buggy but confidant it will improve on that. I calibrated it from user from AVS forum but, Vizio should include App for this. Picture quality on all HD is very good, 4K is first rate and stunning on streaming. I recommend 30MB cable connection and gigabit wifi router. Marco Polo on Netflix Dolby Vision looks very good but, sure it will improve. Blu-Ray upscales beyond expectation, terrific. The price I paid at $1099 makes this one of the best deals I ever made so far. Thanks to Scott Wilkinson from AVS forum for reccomending this product.

This monitor replaced an 11 year old Mitsu Industrial Plasma. We returned the Vizio M series 55" monitor due to inferior upscaling we normally view with DirecTv. The P series makes the M series look obsolete. The P series ALMOST removes all the ghosting and pixelating that occur on the M series. For its price point, The P series is the closest panel that gives “plasma like" picture quality. The color quality exceeds what our previous plasma could put out. For the moment Vizio is producing the P series 55" monitor with an IPS panel. All others are VA panels. The IPS provides an extra bounce to the colors as well as eliminating low picture quality when viewing at wide angles. If you Google "do I have an IPS screen on my 3DS?"… YouTube Will show the difference between an IPS screen and a TN screen. While the VA screens are superior to the TN screen, you'll see an exaggerated comparison between viewing angles and color washout scenarios. IPS is slower, so avid gamers prefer VA panels. For anything else, the IPS panel on the 55" P series is a little known gift for this price point. This monitor will outperform the similar Sony XBR-55X850D on almost every aspect even though it's NOT an Edge LED monitor. It also providing an Android tablet that will cast what your viewing on the table to the monitor. The 6" tablet has a wireless inductive charging dock. You'll never have to plug it in to charge it, but if you really want to, it does have a charging port as well as a standard headphone jack. Unlike Google Chrome cast, Vizio has enabled the content viewed on their Android be picked up directly from the Monitor. It cuts out the middleman of streaming content through the tablet to the monitor. Lastly, the Android tablet provided in the M series is 720p w/ 8gb memory with a Quad core processor vs. the P series outfitted with 1080p w/ 16gb memory and an Octa core processor. Being that the P series smart TV has Wi-Fi built in (unlike the M series), you can look for software updates to support HDR-10. It currently supports Dolby Vision and DTS True Volume (again, unlike the M series, it does not). I recognize the potential in this monitor to be much slower in the race to being obsolete. In theory we could cut the cord with our DirecTv today and use all the free internet TV apps like PlutoTV or get à la carte TV or Movies through Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or VUDU. Keep in mind the viewing area on the Vizio tablet is huge, approximately 95% of the tablet is the view screen. BTW our 10 year old Vizio 42” plasma, open box purchase from Circuit City (VP42 HDTV20A) from 2007 is still kicking. It’s testament to Vizio products when they get it right. It’s perfect for my son’s hack’d Wii console and PS3. Enjoy, if you indulge in the IPS screen currently offered only on the 55” monitor, or the rest of this enchilada loaded with features.

I wanted to love it. The primary reason I was getting it was for the improved black levels as I watch a lot of content at night in a dark room but the blacks really were not as described. I'd say that there was a small improvement in blacks over my current edge-lit LG IPS display and the blacks were close but not as dark as my edge-lit Samsung VA display which was shocking. Yes, FALD was turned on. Blacks were always glowing to some extent and more so than I expected - letterbox bars glowing etc. The light from surrounding areas can just travel far too easily through the areas where lights are shut off. On the upside, the colors were fantastic and vivid - I got a defect free screen - uniform and no blooming. For daytime viewing, it looked awesome. I really liked the tablet/casting - it worked great and with the exception of Amazon - you don't have to connect another device like a Roku although I probably would. Upscaled 720p and up content looked great. Setup was a breeze - there were no problems. If you Need a new TV under that price - grab one or possibly the 50". If you're just looking to upgrade your picture, I'd suggest getting the 65" if you have the room and $ or if you're like me, just wait another year in hopes that the next iteration includes both 120hz and VA panels in a 50 or 55" size. 3 stars compared to the other sizes. From what I saw in stores, I'd give the 65" 4.5 stars...

Purchased the p55-c1 almost 3 months ago and basically very happy with the buy. Picture quality is amazing and the actual design does look great with the matte bezel and plenty of inputs on the back to hook up anything. The p55 does have a slightly reflective screen and does get annoying when the sun comes out but thankfully the full array backlighting can get extremely bright, enough that a quick adjustment can compensate. Unfortunately, using the tablet remote that comes with the tv can be so very frustrating as it doesn't detect the tv sometimes and I'm unable to turn it on or change inputs etc. The live tv guide which is the main selling point for the tv, to be able to use one remote for everything, smartcast, doesn't actually work. Had uverse originally and was told be Vizio that only iptv would work (which uverse is), now.have Direct tv and it still doesn't work, again the reps said that the function isn't fully available and they are trying to iron out many bugs still. Would have been great if they mentioned these things or give us a discounted price for an unfinished product. Picture quality is amazing though. Movies and gaming on ps3 look stunning.
