IMO, they are still the best TV out there and you can't beat their pricing, especially for the features and picture quality you get! Very accurate picture settings from the factory but they can be tweaked to make it even better. While they offer many different picture modes, "Bright" and "Calibrated" look the best so those are the only ones I truly calibrated to perfection. Easy to set up, love the Smartcast, amount of inputs and especially several different HDR decoding options. Also the fact that it has full array back lighting (which many competitors don't have) and local dimming features (granted only on M series and up) but for all these offerings, you just can't beat it. Great TV, great features, all the bells and whistles and all for a great price. To get anything better, you'd have to spend thousands more and the difference would be minor.

This tv had several features I was interested in - built in Chromecast, Dolby Vision support, quantum dot - for less than any comparable model when I was shopping. It’s performed really well. I mostly watch upscaled 1080p streaming material and blu rays and that all looks great. The 4K material I’ve streamed looks good too, though the impact is diminished if you’re looking from off to the side a bit. Overall can not complain for the price. We are very satisfied.

Great tv for the price! 55” seems bigger thanks to screen going right to the edges.
Speakers are a downside but nothing a sound bar can’t fix for must have movie sound.
Great screen . Easy menus . East setup .
(Google setting for best color calibration and HRD setup and you’ll be golden!)
Awesome for gaming but not much noticeable difference unless you have the console to take advantage of the features.
::ThumbsUp::

I upgraded from a Vizio 48-inch D-Series TV to the 55-inch Vizio M-Series TV. I knew the extra 7 inches of screen would be nice, but the extra sharpness and clarity of the M-Series surprised me. This TV is amazing, especially for the money! I cannot imagine how the P-Series of the Vizio TV could deliver that much more quality of picture for the difference in price. The M-Series picture is crisp, vibrant, with vivid colors, and with plenty of adjustments to make the picture yours. I own multiple Vizio TVs and this one shows the progressive improvement of Vizio, while maintaining an affordable price. I just paired it with an M-Series Sound Bar from Vizio, and it is fantastic in my average-sized living room. As far as I am concerned, Vizio is the best quality and value in TV today!
P.S. This review does not examine its Smart TV capabilities as I utilize only cable and over-the-air aspects. But I doubt those qualities are any less than what I am using now.

Good budget TV, the HDR and Dolby Vision modes look great with content that supports it. Not the best colors out of the box but after some tweaks in the settings I was able dial in the colors/HDR to my liking. The remote is flimsy and easy to break luckily the sell replacements on Amazon. PS5 games look great in 4k and the pro gaming engine makes the game play super smooth.

Good buy at Best Buy

I rece toy went from a Samsung to this tv. The Samsung which I did not buy at Best Buy burned out after 2 months and I had to buy another tv. So I went with this one. The setup on this one took a while as everything had to update. But after I started using it it was good. Until it froze up. I think it might have been just updating tho. Once it started working again it seemed fine. The Picture quality May be a little bit dull at times. And the sound is coming from rear speakers which means the neighbors hear the tv louder than we do. I ended up buying a sound bar which resolved that issue. However, the one most annoying thing is the ease of use. It’s a complex tv I get it, but sometimes you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to go back to just normal tv. It seems that way for all smart tvs. The problem is it’s for my older dad and he’s not too tech savvy. Trying to teach him how to use this is impossible and he gets stuck after pressing the wrong button. I myself have to really think before I can get it back to just basic tv channels, and I’m really smart with technology. Also, it forgets that your watching apps such as disney plus and it times out and turns off. Maybe it’s a setting somewhere that stops this. Or future update hopefully. Anyway, Once you get everything figured out (and get a sound bar so the sound goes towards the person watching and not blasting against the wall), This tv is an okay value for your money. Overall, I would actually recommend this tv as a good value for low budget(or someone who just lost a lot of money on a different brand tv).

TV with excellent picture quality that makes colors POP! Looks great and has different modes that are customizable. My Switch and Wii U look great on this. I imagine the PS5 will as well. Setup was easy. Get a surround sound system with this!
However, there is one issue. It appears that there is a row of pixels at the very bottom that display the wrong colors. It appears that the bottom row displays colors that are on the right side of the screen and the rest of the pixels display that color. It goes in and out and can be distracting. I've seen other users describe this problem as well. Currently, it is not known if it is a hardware issue or if it will be fixed with a firmware update. Not sure if I should exchange the tv and go through all the hassle as it's been mounted and everything or just wait.
If this problem didn't exist, this would receive 5 stars. However, I must take this problem into account. Hopefully Vizio fixes this with a firmware update.

Purchased it after a lot of research. The picture quality is definitely better than my previous TCL Roku 4 series tv. But the OS and software is very buggy. Remote doesn't work very often. You cannot select applications in the UI to name a few. Returned it and purchased a Sony Bravia X750H.

I've owned a Vizio M Series from 2017 and it's served me very well (still works and nothing wrong with it) ,but it was a smaller 50 inch and I wanted an upgrade in size. I also wanted a more gaming oriented TV, because my last one wasn't the greatest for it. This TV blows away my last one in terms of picture quality and gaming performance! I don't know the exact input lag, but it's far lower and more responsive than my previous TV. It looks great with all my other content too and upscaled very well too. Colors pop and it's got tons of gaming oriented features. VRR, HDMI 2.1 and Auto Game Low Latency. Everything works smoothly. A pro and con would be it's got a lot of settings to optimize picture quality, but it's a lot of trial and error to dial it in just right. But once you do, it's amazing and worth it. Definitely worth the money for what it delivers.

After purchasing the HD version of this TV 4 years ago I then bought this one last year, and I can say that the quality is great for the price. Sure there are prettier TV's out there (there always will be), but the 4K M-series is likely one of the best overall available today. This has almost every other quality feature other than the 120 Hz refresh rate, which you will easily pay two or even three times as much for one with similar other features. You may notice a little lag from this in fast-panning shots on screen if you look for it, but otherwise it's not really noticeable.
My only suggestion would be to add HBO Max to the smartcast app lineup.

Overall really happy with the TV. Was a HUGE upgrade from the old Samsung 40 inch HDTV we had. Setup was pretty straight forward. Watching shows in 4K HDR really pops. For the price it was a great buy.
One thing we noticed though is on the Vizio menu the text and icons are not super sharp. Not sure why that is.

Solid TV, audio sounds weak.

So far, this model has been pretty good to me - looks great, easy functionality between my other (older) model, and supports all my other hardware without issues. My only complaint is the volume/sound. Compared to my other Vizio, same size and same model from a few years prior, this new version seems to have audio that sounds a lot weaker, causing me to turn the volume up louder, and the options to remedy the sound are very limited. It’s as if this particular TV was built with a necessity to own/purchase a surround sound set up. So, if you’re looking to run audio straight out of the TV, no surround sound or sound bar, it takes a lot to get used to. I’ve even experienced audio clipping issues when watch blu-rays, and I’ve attempted multiple players. I’m wondering if I might’ve gotten a model with issues, or if I need to troubleshoot my audio output options. With that said, I can only fault the set for some weak audio output, otherwise it’s been a good set-up that was well-worth the price (on-sale, got $100 off).

I know these are supposed to be "budget" television's, but $500 is still a good amount of money to spend on a product and still not get good quality.
Cons:
Picture is only a minor increase over our 10 year old Sony. The technology used in this set seems like it is still a work in progress. The Active Full Array feature seems to either make it too bright, or too dim, or a combination of both. So it creates spots on the picture where one side is overly bright and the other is overly dim. It's a good idea and I'm sure it works better on other sets, but Vizio didn't pull it off very well on this tv.
Color is not very accurate. Ive never had to adjust individual colors on a tv and I can't seem to get them dialed in correctly on this set. Red in particular is screwed up. It is a weird glow/over saturated. White/light colors are too bright/hard on thre eyes.
The speakers on this TV are awful. Sounds like 1990 computer speakers. On top of that they make random popping noises. It's most noticeable when scrolling through netflix, YouTube, and or the home screen. This seems to be a major problem with Vizii in general. Just Google Vizio M series speaker pop and you'll find numerous communities and Reddits on this problem. I have tried changing sound settings, nothing works. Ive heard the Vizio found bar helps, but that shouldn't be needed. Besides, if I wanted to spend an extra $200 on my tv budget, I wouldn't have bought this tv.
Use with PS4 is irritating. It puts it in game mode regardless. I understand this is to reduce input lag, but it kills graphics. Even if I take it out of game mode, It won't allow me to change picture settings. Sharpness and other features are "grayed out" meaning you can't adjust them. This is annoying because most of us use our gaming consoles for other things aside from gaming. Like betflix, YouTube, dvd players etc. Because it's easier to use the keyboard and fir wherever reason, YouTube has a bug that allows commercials to play premium accounts when used with tv app. This has been on going for a year or longer and seems no fix is coming.
Pros:
Deeper blacks and brighter colors, but that's about it. You're not going to wow anyone with the pictures on this tb unles your coming from a standard definition tv.
Overall, this tv is not much of an upgraded over our 10 year old Sony tv, which is still running great. Our 10 year old vizio had problems, which lead us to this purchase. I based our purchase off rtings.com as the best all around tv in our budget. They are either brand biased, paid off, or the tv they reviewed was special.
Ive had this tv 24 hours and trying to find a better replacement in the same price range. Its 2021, speakers should not be this poor or making popping sounds. Picture quality should be more uniform and accurate, gaming systems should not be limited or dumbed down.
At $500 I would expect better. I can not recommend this tv at this price range. Regardless of the so called quantum and seemingly fake rtings.com claims, this tv performs more like an older generic tv with a $200 price tag.

I bought this to replace our 50" Hisense 4K television that had a defective power module. This TCL by comparison has amazingly deep and rich colors, but it can be difficult to find the right color saturation level so that pinks aren't overly saturated compared to the other colors. The other difference being the backlight zones are fairly large so dark scenes are often lit unrealistically. I also have a 2019 70" Vizio with smaller zones that while they do have some light bleed the smaller zones provide a better picture than this models 8 to 12 zones with a brighter overall picture. On the Hisense this is replacing I had the brightness at 100% but the contrast down to around 60%. And while it resulted in a slightly dimmer picture, the brights were bright and the darks were near black even in a dark room.
Minor grievances aside, for the price and size it's difficult to find a better picture and watching movies or playing games on this television look incredible (while watching from straight on).

Awesome tv the fact that you basically get all that you need for a budget is crazy. Like 60hz haming zero input variable refresh rate dolby vision hdr10 and 4 2.1 hdmi ports is a steal. And its a solid 55inch. And if none of those interest you then i recommend a cheaper tv.

Wholeheartedly recommend this TV if you’re upgrading from a 1080p display. It’s also a great deal for what this TV packs.
I purchased this as an upgrade for the New Xbox and it’s been amazing so far. Colors pop in places I didn’t even know existed, the display is crisp and even can run at 120hz at 1440p
My biggest issue so far is setting that up. If you’re buying this just as a smart TV, you’re good to go. It has all the major apps except for HBO Max.
For Console gamers, Xbox specifically, to get the display to 4K, it takes some finagling in the settings to get it to work, and their is nothing in the instructions that tell you specifically where to go. Even looking it up online doesn’t help much since the section certain articles tell you to look in don’t have what you’re looking for. It’s a tedious, but not impossible process. Even considering that I would still recommend this display.

The picture quality is fantastic at the price range! The interface is easy to understand, and has a lot of great features. I give it 4 stars because of 2 downsides: (1) The built-in speakers are trash. Of course, this is completely expected at this price range; I always planned to use an external speaker. But the big problem is that the volume of such a speaker can't be controlled by the TV's remote, which is very inconvenient when you're watching a show. (2) The default color setting is a little bit off. This, however, is an easy one-time fix right when it's purchased. Just go into the color settings and select "Calibrated," and you're all set for good.
