Do not buy this camera!!! I needed security for a driveway entrance with no power or internet available. The built in solar was unable to power the unit so after multiple location changes, I added a Vosker solar panel. Second problem is the camera is not clear enough to read a license plate which is useful if you need to identify a vehicle to police. After several months and over $800 invested (camera, solar panel and data plan) the camera was working and giving me notifications when anyone showed up at the gate. Then someone decided to steal the camera. I was out of town, the camera notified me of movement and I was able to watch on camera while talking with the local police as thieves knocked the camera off of its mount and stole it. Next I was locked out of my account. I called Vosker customer service and was told that the thieves had re-registered the camera into their own account while still sitting in my driveway. It was that easy. I was then told that my photos and video of the thieves trespassing and stealing my camera was "unfortunately lost". It is unconscionable that Vosker allows anyone to take control of a stolen camera by simply scanning the QR code on the back. If they did not allow this and would simply disable the stolen camera or require proof of purchase to activate a camera, then there would be no incentive for thieves to steal your expensive security camera. Vosker told me that my only recourse was to fill out and sign a "stolen camera" form, have law enforcement fill out and sign a stolen camera form and they would then share the information about the camera location with local law enforcement. I did all of that and followed up with Vosker but 36 hours later, no response from Vosker. My guess is that the thieves know that they can take the camera out of the local jurisdiction where they are beyond the reach of local law enforcement or just switch the camera off and sell it on ebay. If Vosker did not allow anyone to take control and establish an account for a stolen camera then this would be a useful product, since they do that, do not waste your money on this product.

Hi there! We understand how frustrating it can be when your camera gets stolen. As soon as all the forms are received, the proper department will be able to provide all the information from the thief's account. We thank you for your patience. -KM

    Perfect Solution for My Needs

I wanted a security option that didn't require hardwiring, and wasn't going to rely on a wifi service that frankly, my wifi provider can't promise works like it should. This was a perfect solution to that need. When you need an ad hoc security option, there aren't many out there. They require way more infrastructure than this Vosker camera does. Getting it setup was easy. The app is pretty easy to navigate. There was an update right after activation and turning it on, that went smoothly and then the camera started working pretty much right out of the gate. Photo previews are perfectly adequate, videos are reasonable as well. Better than the grainy security camera footage I see on the news from dedicated security systems. I'm not hanging them as art above the mantel, I just want to see if someone is where they shouldn't be. Detections are very good. I may turn it to low just to avoid smaller triggers. The live stream options is awesome for if I want to check on things while I'm away. Someone else mentioned the wood screw mount, I've used similar into thin sheets of metal or steel. No, it wouldn't go into an i-beam, but barn siding and the like wouldn't be an issue. I also really like that if i want, I can just set it up for when I will be gone, and not pay for an ongoing subscription when I am home and don't need it. You have to understand what it is designed for, it isn't one size fits all, but for what it is designed for, it executes really well.

In the package you get: 1 camera, 1 mount, micro-SD card (16GB of local backup storage), rechargeable battery, and two window decals. Set up was straight forward. Download the app and follow set up instructions. Adding the device was as simple as clicking ‘add new device’. After charging the battery and turning the unit on, it did require an update, be patient as this update took approx. 15minutes. The camera unit was easy to install with the provided attachment hardware that provides a wide assortment of mounting options. You can see the cellular signal strength when the battery door is open to find the optimal spot for the unit to be installed. This unit comes with a long-lasting 14,000 mAh lithium battery connected to a built-in solar panel with a USB-C port for charging. Currently it has been installed for 5 days with only 3% of battery power used. Make sure the unit will receive sunlight to help lengthen the battery life. Very clear color photo/video during the day however at night the pictures are black and white as seen in the pictures. The motion detection is responsive and accurate with a very minimal lag time when loading the pictures or videos. You must pay attention to where you mount the camera as there is no activity zone settings in the app to prevent unwanted photos or videos. The app does allow you to filter out vehicles or humans. The sensitivity can be adjusted between 3 options (low, medium, high) with a detection range of 100’. The night vision range is also 100’ with infrared LED 850nm. The pictures attached are at approx. 75 feet. This is an excellent weather resistant system with great looking hardware and very responsive given it is completely wire free. Hardware quality looks to be heavy duty for holding up to whatever mother nature throws its way. Theft protection would be a main concern of the equipment as this unit cost a fair amount. Vosker does have a security box that would encase the unit which could be chained up as an option. The unit also has a built in GPS tracker in the unfortunate case the unit is stolen/misplaced. This Camera requires a monthly or yearly subscription. There are 3 monthly plans to choose from: Basic plan for $10/month gives you 250 photo alerts, 7 day history, 10 full HD video downloads and access to live streaming. Alerted plan for $15/month gives you 500 photo alerts a 15 day history, 20 full HD video downloads and access to live streaming. Elite plan for $20/month gives you 2000 photo alerts a 60 day history, 40 full HD video downloads. All plans have ‘access’ to live streaming, but at another added cost. You can purchase live streaming for $20/year and you would get 40 minutes of full HD live streaming, Live streaming shows in high quality, the viewing time is reduced when live view is set to Max quality (40 min of High quality equals 10 min of Max quality). Detection: the perception on the camera is amazing, it sends notification to your phone and records a quick 10 sec clip as soon as it detects motion that are available to download if desired. Photo resolution: Full HD resolution 1080p local on SD card with a 90-degree ultra-wide field of view. Photos are in the JPG format date, time and temperature stamped. Video resolution: FULL HD resolution 1080p local on SD card with 10 second clips, streaming is also done in Full HD 1080p with live audio, the video file format is MP4. You can set this up in 4 different languages: English, French, Spanish and German. The system has an operating temperature range of -22 degrees Fahrenheit to +122 degrees Fahrenheit. The unit can display in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. My use: I installed at our lake house which has nearby neighbors, so for us it triggers often. If I could apply a motion detection area it would allow me to have the camera ignore the neighbor’s yard. I would also like the ability to turn detection off via the app as well. That way, when I am home, and walking around the yard, I would not get alerts. Currently I must physically walk to the unit to disable. Kind of annoying. Pros: 100% wire-free Cellular Solar Durable Cons: App limitations No ability to turn on/off remotely No Video detection area’s Pricey subscription service Overall, a nice camera for a very remote location with minimal movement. Perhaps a nice choice for the remote cabin or construction site especially where access to electricity and Wi-Fi are not possible. But if you need to the ability to pick and choose when and what area the camera detects, or you have Wi-Fi available, then there are better options out there.

A niche solar-powered remote security camera

IoT devices are all the rage, and the Vosker V300 is a niche new generation of remotely accessible off-grid weather-sealed security cameras. Unlike most security cameras, this Vosker V300 does not use WiFi. It uses a 4G LTE / 5G cell phone modem to transfer pictures and videos and provide live video surveillance. The camera is designed to be permanently installed at remote off-grid locations where wired internet is not easily accessible. It is a solar-powered motion sensor-powered security camera with a cellphone modem that stores images locally on a microSD card prior to uploading images to the cloud, where they can be accessed by a mobile app or a web browser. When installed correctly with the camera pointing north and its solar panel pointing south/south-west (in the northern hemisphere), it should provide reliable service. The onboard battery is a 51.8 Wh or 14000 mAh battery that should last a long time. Should you be located in an area with power, the camera can be powered by the USB-C connection on the bottom. Vosker security cameras can be technically installed anywhere in the world, as long it has a compatible cellphone modem. The US version seems to use Verizon for the backbone network, although the service provider is not denoted in any of the literature provided. Setup of the camera could not be any easier, though if you read the instruction manual, it is easy to make the mistake that I did. It seems the word ‘apart’ is used to state that the battery is to be charged separately from the camera for the first time, and it does not seem that the camera can charge the battery when plugged in with the battery installed. The battery has a USB-C port to charge it outside of the camera, and that can take anywhere between 12-24 hours. It took me 16+ hours to get fully charged. Once charged, the solar panel (in full sunlight) can trickle and charge the battery back to full. Should the battery go below 30%, well, the camera stops working. it would not transfer the images until after it reaches 30%, but the maximum performance of the camera starts at 50% battery power. The solar panel is not very efficient in charging the battery, it would be best as a trickle charge, but eventually, you will run into a situation where the battery will require a bench charge with a 5v DC charge via USB-C. It concerns me as the solar panel may not have the ability to charge the lithium battery in all conditions fully, and given that the camera has to be in direct sunlight to generate enough power, the issue of thermal runaway is a huge concern. While the camera is rated at 120F, lithium batteries generally prefer cooler temperatures when charging. The initial setup of the camera is quite easy. If you have bench charged your battery, the only thing needed to add before turning on the device is the included MicroSD card. I accidentally forgot to install the MicroSD card and found the camera would not connect to Vosker. The status lights under the battery cover kept blinking and the camera eventually went to sleep. Installing the MicroSD solved the problem. Vosker provides a 7-day free trial of their Elite Plan, which includes 2000 pictures per month, 40 full HD video downloads (10-second clips) and 60 days of history in the cloud. There is a monthly subscription service to access the pictures remotely. Once the initial 7-day trial is over, the camera will continue to function but will not store images in the cloud where you may retrieve them. The cloud interface allows AI features that include image recognition. The camera without a subscription would perform like a solar-powered trail camera, but it needs to be set up first with the cellphone network to activate it. It also needs the cellphone network to make changes to any settings in the camera, as the camera does not support Bluetooth or WiFi. The image quality of the camera is very good, though it tends to prefer to use infrared images over colour. The image preview pulled by the mobile app looks fuzzy, but that is because it is a lower 480P resolution, but the images recorded on the MicroSD are full 1080P resolution and thus transferred to the cloud when requested; the default is the lower resolution. If you choose not to use the cloud feature to retrieve your images (sans subscription), it would require you to remove the battery to get the MicroSD card out before transferring the images. This device is great for keeping track of activities in a remote area or a construction site, or a remote home; it is not designed for 24x7 recording, as it is a motion sensor-triggered camera. The camera will take a few seconds to fire off before it starts recording. Placement of the view the camera sees is important to make sure you are capturing the best image possible so there is a chance the camera will catch it. I found the camera has a slight delay between recognising motion and actually taking a picture. A couple of years ago, I bought a piece of property up in the mountains, and I am planning to take a drive up there and install it on a tree there so I may remotely monitor my property. In theory, this camera should be able to provide enough photo evidence given the low traffic that is expected. This is assuming the cellphone antenna can pick up the Verizon signal, and there is enough signal strength to be able to transfer data (you need 3-5 bars on the signal meter for it to work). Vosker does make an external antenna to help increase signal capture should you have that need. I really wanted to like this camera. I think it's perfect in certain situations, especially if you are remote monitoring a location that is off-grid with low motion detection. Its use in the city is limited to construction monitoring (besides the lovely time-lapse feature). The camera image quality is good; the app works as it should; however, the image data is not real-time and has a slight delay before one may view the 10-second HD clip as it has to request it from the camera. The pricing of the data plan is reasonable but quickly adds up if you subscribe to the 40-minutes of live view per month. Positive Points * Very Good image quality, good motion sensor and night vision range. Although slow motion-detection recognition and thus image capture at times can be hit or miss if not oriented correctly. The Video recording is 10 seconds per motion-triggered, of which one frame photo shows up in your app. * A neat little off-grid all-weather solar-powered security camera that works on a cellphone network. The camera can do ‘time lapse’ recording as required via the app settings. * 90-degree viewing angle * Available accessories include an external antenna extension and a security lock box. Neutral Points * The camera is best pointed “north”, and the solar panel is pointed “south/south-west” to make the best of the charging ability and image quality. This may not be suitable for your location. * Battery life and camera useability depend on the amount of sunlight the solar panel gets to recharge the batteries. The battery is large 14000 mAh, and will require up to 24 hours for a full charge, but will not charge through the camera USB-C port. Negative Points: * Not a 24x7 real-time recording security camera, it only records as it detects motion. Good for low traffic areas. * Requires 3–5 bars on the signal meter to be effective for remote monitoring/data transfer. * Transfers daily camera status twice daily, and image transfer happens about 20 seconds after capture but may not have the image you are looking for. You will have to request the video to be transferred or look at the live view to see what the camera captured. * The rubber mount on the bottom covering the USB-C port is hard to seal back after you remove it. It's impossible to put it back to create a weather-sealed connector. A better design here would help.

    Security Camera on Cellular Connection

There is a need for a camera designed on this concept of being off-grid and reliant on cellular data. Remote areas or areas were there is no land telephone line, Wi-Fi or electricity have no other option for use of security cameras if not for one that works with cellular data. The Vosker V300 relies on 4G-LTE cellular connectivity. It can offer 24/7 live monitoring without Wi-Fi or electricity. The Vosker V300 comes with a Vosker SIM card, has a built-in GPS tracker, and a lithium battery that is charged 12-24 hours prior to use in the camera. It works with an App that will allow (with a subscription) viewing of live motion events, capture photos, set the camera up, and provide mobile notifications. Activating the camera through the app worked quickly, but all of the light controls that show cellular strength, battery life, etc. are inside the battery compartment. The app is basic and only shows Account, Status, Settings, Gallery and Help. The battery status on the app is 58 percent, but the battery is fully charged. Signal strength shows 5/5. The app also allows for setup, and you can set the time of day the camera operates and particularly the first transfer time of any motion detected. The Gallery shows thumbnail photos or videos of motion detected. There is also a feature for live video. There are three levels of subscriptions, and the camera comes with a 7-day Elite trial. But even the Elite trial does not provide enough minutes to actually use this camera for monitoring an area in need of surveillance. The tiers of subscriptions range from $10 - $20 a month with an additional $5 for one thousand photos and twenty videos and another additional $20 for 40 minutes of FULL HD Live Streaming. Only 2 minutes of live streaming is included in the 7-day free trial which is not enough to get a feel for which subscription might work best for a particular situation. A subscription is required to do anything with the camera which I feel is too limiting to make the camera earn its usefulness. The camera is best positioned 100’ from the area to be under surveillance. The camera records ten second video and audio clips upon motion detection and films in FULL HD video resolution. Photos are taken with a 90-degree ultra-wide-angle lens and stored in FULL HD resolution on the SD card. The app does allow for previewing photos and the photos are stamped with date, time, and temperature. Photos are taken in color during the day and with the use of infrared at night. The camera comes equipped with a 16 GB micro-SD card for storage. I am confused about the storage capacity because one place on the packaging indicates that backup storage can be up to 32 GB and in another place in the literature it mentions storage capacity of 2 TB. The SIM card, Micro SD and all the control lights are within the battery compartment. The casing for the camera is sturdy and water resistant. The mounting bracket is a simple, creative design that can be easily and quickly installed in various locations. The best place for my location is in a tree where the leaves do not cover the solar panel which serves to continuously charge the battery as long as the battery has not fallen below 30 percent. The mounting bracket mounts to the camera like a tripod and then there is a similar piece that has a wood screw for holding the camera in place. The mounting screw and wood screw are then both held together with another piece that allows full range of motion on both ends. This appears to be a particularly clever design and was very simple and easy to mount. I like the camera and the photos and videos are fairly clear but could be sharper. The subscription plans seem so limiting that I plan to give it a two-month trial before purchasing an annual subscription to see if it is adequate in alerting me of any situation that might warrant contacting law enforcement. I would recommend it in particular situations where cellular is the only option, but only if one is willing to pay for the subscription and add-ons that will provide adequate surveillance 24/7. Otherwise, its usefulness is diminished even though the product design itself, is genuinely nice.

Off grid camera to keep an eye on things with live

I’ve always wanted to keep an eye on our summer cabin but didn’t know how until now. My cabin doesn’t have a reliable wifi signal nor easy access to power so the Vosker V300 is the perfect camera for what I’m looking for. This camera uses cellular service and has its own battery pack with solar panels. Pros: *Capable of live viewing and records with sound *Complete package with SIM and Micro SD card *Solar Panel to help maintain charge *Tree/wood mount is easy to use *Cellular plans can be Monthly with no contract *Easy to set up Cons: *App is horrible *Big form factor and not very discreet *Price is high *Back lid doesn’t lock to protect memory card theft *Night vision IR pulsates in the videos *No 2 way audio Comes with everything you need to get started. Do keep in mind that the battery needs 8+ hours of initial charging. Once charged, pop the supplied battery and Micro SD card in to start. Download the Vosker App onto your phone to help with the setup. Just scan the QR code on the camera and you’re up and running within minutes. Comes with a 7 day trial and doesn’t need a credit card to start. Just make sure that your area does have cellular service or this camera will not work as intended. Even without a subscription, the camera does record onto the supplied memory card but you will not be able to view remotely onto your app or website without an active plan. The camera claims to be 1080p but the cheap lens and sensor size makes it look like a webcam from the 90s. You would not be able to read license plates if it’s not within a few feet from the camera. But that doesn’t deter the fact that it still does the job and does the job well. How the camera works is that once it detects motion, it will send a push alert to your phone that motion, vehicle or person has been detected. Once you view the picture and feel like you need more context, that’s when you can ask the camera to push you the 10 second video associated with that photo alert. Depending on your subscription tier, you can get 250 photo alerts on the low end and as much as 3000 per month on the highest tiers. Downloaded videos are between 10-60 depending on the plan too. Live streaming is unique to the V300 as the lower tiered cameras within Vosker lineup doesn’t offer. Live streaming is $20 add-on for 40 minutes of live stream on standard quality or 10 minutes of maximum quality. This isn’t limited by month but by usage over a year’s time. Standard quality is mostly fine but pixelated. See my attached photo to show a side-by-side comparison on standard quality vs max quality. In summary, I’m generally happy with the intended use of the camera. It’s a piece of mind that I can check in on my cabin whenever I want and be alerted to motion. The solar package helps prolong the battery life so that it may be able to run indefinitely if you have full sun. Even though the app is horrible, a future update can easily fix the user interface. I would recommend the Vosker V300 despite the current app issues.

The Vosker V300 outdoor camera has been a bit of a rough start for me but is a great asset to my security. The camera comes in a nicely packaged box and is well protected. There is only a small bit of installation needed, mostly for the mount that it will attach to. The battery is out the camera and needs to be charged before putting in the camera. It does come with a power cable. Charging takes a bit of time, so in the mean time, the camera also comes with a mini sim card that needs to be installed, and also an sd card. After the battery is charged it slides into the hatch on the camera. After putting in the battery, sim card, and sd card, install the vosker app. There is not much help set up wise, but I would avoid powering the camera on until set up is ready on the app. In order to set up, you have to have the sim # to put into the app for it to connect to it. Once set up is done, is where the tricky part for me came in. I turned the camera on, but it would not connect to the cell network. There is only a little guide on the battery door to follow to tell if things are working. The app does not let you remove the camera from the system with out help from vosker support which is another issue. If it won't connect, you will have to get ahold of vosker support, but trying to do so is not the easiest task. In the app, it offers live chat, but nothing loads for it. You can call but when I tried calling in business hours, it wouldn't connect to anyone. It was not until I emailed them and waited a couple days they finally reached out and called me. They were very helpful at that point and removed my camera on the app and put it in again and it finally connected to the cell network. Installing the camera was fairly simple, but trying to screw the mount into the tree was not an easy task. I would recommend drilling a very tiny pilot hole, then screwing the mount in. After that, the other end of the mount screws into the bottom of the camera. The top of the camera houses the solar panel. Trying to mount the camera in a good spot that can be hidden but receive sunlight can be tricky. No the camera does not need to be hidden, its just what I'm needing it for. The camera comes with a 7 day free trial, so immediately pictures will start uploading to the app with a million notifications. I had to turn mine off. There is not a lot of settings to adjusting the camera so you are pretty much stuck with what it wants.. you can only access about 10 seconds of live feed once when it tells you like 10 minutes.. the thing it does best is the pictures, then you can request 10 seconds of footage from the captures. The pictures are a good quality, and show a great amount of detail for being sent over a remote cell connection. The hd video that you can request is also a good quality and not grainy. The camera can also do night vision and is pretty clear. It obviously has issues with night vision if there are obstacles in the camera view as shown in one picture I showed. The camera after 7 days requires a subscription plan, with prices that are not too bad for a remote cell service camera and you can go monthly or yearly for extra savings. Overall, I would recommend this camera if you need security in a remote location that has cell service, otherwise there are much better options. The solar panel does good at keeping the camera charged. The biggest gripes is set up and initially accessing tech support. The app needs a lot of updating and polishing and more information could be provided for setting up.

I live on a farm, with a 1/3 mile driveway that is not visible from the house, so was excited to try this camera out to capture movement by the barn. Unfortunately I didn't find this camera to be helpful for capturing moving vehicles or anything at night. This review is based on 4 days of use and using the app on an Android phone. In the box is the camera, battery, sd card, sim card, charging cable, mount, and quick start guide. The battery needs to be charged, approximately an hour, prior to initial use. There is an indicator light on the battery to show when fully charged. The battery compartment is well insulated from the elements, and contains the sd and sim card slots as well as the on/off switch. To operate, you will need to install the Vosker app. While I'd like to consider set up easy, it took me multiple attempts of powering on and off before the app started receiving any photos, and after 4 days of use, I still cannot get live streaming video to connect, even with a 5/5 signal. Installation of the mount is easy, its a ball and socket setup with a long wood screw for mounting. Simply screw in base, attach ball and socket, move to desired location and tighten. Out of the box the camera comes with a 7 day trial and then three payment tiers ($10/$15/$20 monthly) using 4G services. Payment allows you to get a set number of photos alerts ($10 for 250 / $20 for 2000 alerts) history options, video downloads, and video streaming minutes. This is all controlled via the app. The app has a status tab, allowing signal, battery, and SD card usage tracking. A settings tab to select delay, sensitivity, when to receive the first transfer of the day, date / time format, temp, schedule if you prefer to only monitor select hours, and trigger speed. Lastly there is a gallery tab that stores the photos received from the camera. It does have vehicle and human filter options, and I was surprised that the vehicle setting would also capture ATVs, tractors, and other non-standard vehicle types. As far as what this camera can be used for, I find it to be limited. With a long driveway, using the 'fast' trigger speed, the camera completely misses vehicles traveling at 25 mph. I tested with my truck and was able to get the back half of my truck in the photo when traveling at 15 mph. When I turned the sensitivity to high, I found that I was getting tens of photos each day of bugs, far away tree movement, and no photos of actual people, vehicle, or animal movement. As far as night photos, I have not had any come through, even though I know there is deer movement across my farm each night, confirmed by a motion alarm just down from where the camera is mounted. Lastly, the first morning motion triggered photo are always off color, either black and white or weird hues. This has nothing to do with the available lighting, as the next motion photo, typically occurring within the next 5 minutes, will be full color. Overall, I do not find this camera to be a good option for home security. Even when vehicles are captured, there is no way to read the license tag and people shots are not well defined. Examples of all of these issues are attached to this review. This camera may be fantastic for monitoring a feeding plot or parking lots but is not a good fit for moving objects or security purposes.

Thank you for sharing your impressions about the V300. We are glad to hear that our product is easy to install, and we have some tips to make the most of the product.

      1) Place the camera to avoid direct sunlight in the lens (pink pictures). Those can happen at dawn or dusk when the camera is switching to night or day mode. However, if you request the video “Full HD”, the colors will turn out completely normal even if the photo suggests it’s all pink.

      2) Experiment with different locations, to take advantage of the 90 degrees viewing angle and 100 ft detection range. This way, your camera could catch more easily those vehicles passing in your driveway.

If you have questions about our products, our experts at vosker.com or 1-888-986-7537 will be happy to help!

    ## Design The camera is somewhat large as it has both a large capacity lithium battery pack and a large solar panel to help charge the battery during sunny weather. The camera comes with a memory card and a SIM card, as well as USB-C charging cable. It’s important to note that the battery pack can only be charged OUTSIDE of the camera (the battery has its own USB-C port directly on it). You’ll need to charge the battery for 12-24 hours before initial use, so don’t plan to use the camera the day you get it. ## How it Works You can think of this camera as a trail cam with cellular connectivity. You can place it in an outdoor area with the solar panel pointed at the sun, switch it on, and wait for it to connect to a cellular network. It then sends you a photo whenever it detects activity. It also records an image and video to the included Micro SD card so you can access the full resolution media later. Alternatively, you can use cellular data to access the full resolution image as well, but each plan includes a limited number of full resolution downloads (much less than the allotment of photo notifications). ## Cellular Limitations The Vosker V300 requires a cellular data plan purchased through Vosker in order to send you motion alerts. At the time of this review, there is no “free” tier available (past the 7 day trial) and the minimum cellular plan is around $10/month. However, even without a cellular option, the camera will still operate like a traditional trail cam and record motion events to the Micro SD card. If you plan to use this camera as a cellular backup option to your home security system, it’s important to note that the Vosker V300 cannot be supplemented with WiFi to conserve your cellular data plan. So even if you have WiFi in the area (and you only want to use cellular as a backup), this camera will always use cellular data. One worrisome aspect of the device’s connectivity is that the camera uses 4G LTE service. With most providers recently shutting down their 3G networks, it makes me wonder about the camera’s ability to connect in the future. We may be many years away from the 4G shutdown, but it would have been nice if a 5G modem was included in this model. ## Motion Detection While you can use the Vosker app to adjust the sensitivity for motion events (low, medium, high), the Vosker V300 cannot be turned on and off remotely. This could potentially be a problem if you inadvertently set up the camera in an active area. Say you set up the camera, drive off, and later find out that a bird starts building a nest in front of the camera. You’ll constantly get activity notifications and burn through your data allotment before you can drive back and manually turn off the camera. In my testing, motion detection seemed to work fairly well, but I received many false alarms with the sensitivity set at “medium.” When reviewing the footage, all I could see moving were the leaves on the trees and the shadows on the ground. Therefore, if you plan to use this at a construction site or a cabin, for example, you may want to mount it inside and/or point it at a doorway or window to reduce the number of possible motion triggers. ## Photo Quality Photo quality is just OK. With cellular data, the photos will be a lower resolution, but you can still make out if an animal or a person tripped the camera. Even when retrieving the photos from the Micro SD card, the full resolution pictures and videos are good enough to see what’s going on, but if a person is fairly far away from the camera, you probably won’t be able to ID them. Sadly, the push notifications from Vosker do not include a preview image to give you a general idea of what is happening to trip the camera. Instead, you need to go to the app, wait for it to load, and then wait for the images to download. ## Battery Life I tested the camera during a mostly sunny week and found that the solar panel seemed to maintain the battery fairly well, gaining about 3-8% every hour in direct sunlight. ## Summary The Vosker V300 is good if you need an “off the grid” solution where power and WiFi are not available, and you don’t mind the added monthly cost of a cellular plan. However, photo quality is just average and the camera cannot be supplemented by WiFi to conserve your data plan. Also, the motion sensor seems a little too sensitive at times and can use up your data plan quickly if you place it in a busy area.

The Vosker V300 is an outdoor wire free camera that operates with out needing WiFi or existing internet on site. While similar to a cellular game camera, Vosker is unique in that it offers discrete flexible mounting options thanks to the 1/4-20 mount and the including self-taping ball joint, 100ft detection range, on-demand 1080p 10-second video clips, and even live streaming. I thought the back of my property would be ideal placement but unfortunately the camera’s battery and solar panel are inadequate for the power usage of the camera and cellular radio to provide more than a couple weeks of battery life with 2-3 nightly detections and downloading a couple videos. During the past couple months of use, I have tried relocating, upgrading firmware, and even a replacement camera thanks to Vosker’s responsive support team. Though heavily wooded, the V300 did receive 2-3 hours of full sun and 2-3 hours of partial. Despite all effort, I only managed 2-3 weeks of battery life apart from testing an extremely limited Eco mode that may or may not be available in the app in the future. Climbing a ladder every few weeks defeats the purpose of using this in any remote capacity. This brings me to another shortfall, the app. The app feels dated and often does not load properly if left to suspend in the background on iOS. On multiple devices, the screen would not load properly unless I close the app before viewing. A minor inconvenience that may be solved with an update but added to the whole makes the product feel unrefined and lacking polish. The video quality, though 1080p, is very compressed and soft. For the price point, I had hoped the video would be comparable to a 1080p WiFi camera but I didn’t find that to be the case. Adding this to Vosker undersizing the battery/solar, the app, and the fact the camera is practically unusable without one of their plans makes it difficult to recommend. As long as you set your expectations, the Vosker provides a promising stand alone solution that would be great for off-grid surveillance as long as there is almost no daily activity and several hours of full sun.

Hello Pebo, thank you for your feedback about the V300. Before using the camera, we recommend fully recharging the lithium battery pack for at least 48 hours so the solar panel can recharge while in use. As you know, the battery life is dependent on videos/photos taken, transfer frequency, signal strength, and other environmental conditions. The camera has the choice of ECO mode to lengthen the battery life. A quick way to update the new videos is to go on the status and go back to the gallery. You will then be able to view all the new ones. Since each customer has different needs, we offer three transmission plans. As we believe in customer satisfaction, your opinion is important to us. Thank you for bringing these situations to our attention. -KM

Vosker is a sister company to Spypoint, with the focus being on security rather than "trail cam." This V300 is a sturdy unit with a heavy-duty adjustable steel mount included, but that mount requires it being screwed into wood. On a positive note the camera can be mounted with any number of other style mounts that use the same size thread (1/4" ? ) What puzzles me is the software app for the phone is nearly identical to the Spypoint app, with some shortfalls for settings which limit it's use as a security cam--you are limited to one shot at a time instead of the option to making it 2 shots. And even with the setting set to zero for the delay before taking another one--sometimes it didn't take another one for more than a minute, even with constant motion going on in the view of the camera. A focus on "security" should have it snapping more pictures at a faster interval. The lithium battery pack charges to full with USB-C cable before you set the camera in place outdoors, and then the solar panel is supposed to keep it charged up. Which requires you placing the camera where the sun's rays will hit the panel. Not always a great location for security unless you have no shade around your house. Well--even with multiple hours of sun the activity of seeing motion and taking videos brought the charge down to 63% over 2 days. And then using the "live stream" video for less than a minute brought it to 60%. I've had the Spypoint LTE for a few years. I could buy one and the solar charger for it for the price of the v300 or less and have better coverage. The v300 sends notifications faster than the Spypoint, but I still would rather have the Spypoint. The camera's cloud plans are affordable. A free 7-day trial of the "Elite" level is included.

Thank you for sharing your impressions. True, unlike some SPYPOINT cameras, the V300 doesn’t do multi-shots. But it does much more. For every photo you receive, there’s a 10-second video you can request by clicking on the “Full HD” button in the top right corner of the app.

This is why the transmission plans differ from SPYPOINT. Instead of only sending photos, the V300 sends videos AND does live-streaming sessions. These features required a much more powerful battery and a more efficient solar panel than we can find with our trail cameras.

Now, if you are a heavy user, we understand your concerns about the battery life. We are working to release an energy-saving mode.

Unique kind of monitoring when there isn't option

Review of Vosker V300. At first, I would describe Vosker cameras as a device that include the function of motion sensor with video camera and connected to mobile line only and eliminate wires, which makes it a unique among connected cameras. Upon unpacking it, the device feels robust, not heavy enough to make portable as needed, and the device include: 1. 4G-LTE Cellular Connectivity; 2-Live Audio-Video Streaming feature 3- Rechargeable Battery; 4-100 ft Motion Detection sensor; 5- 1/4”-20 Tripod Mount; 6- Built In Solar Panel 7- Made wit water resistance material; 8-Built in GPS Tracker 9-90 degree Ultra-Wide Angle View 10-Audio Recording 11- Local Backup on micro SD Card support up to 2tb 12- 100 ft Night Vision Range In the package includes: 1-The device; 2-16gb micro sd card; 3-usb charging cable; 4-mounting tripod The cellular network that connect to is either Verizon or Nationwide Network according to the brand’s website. Now, as.I have been using it for several days, I see it as it is useful for cases of renting houses, or remote area as the brand describes, but it has to be very critical need for which the user would buy it as it is not low cost device but it also create dependency to monthly subscription. The subscription aspect is common among connected monitoring camera, but bit different for the case of Vosker offering. Before going to the subject of subscription, the camera does as per its specification for detecting and storing images and video, live view, able to control and access to files via app and so on that is not very different from other brands does. Connecting the device with the app is simple but must create user account first then add it to the account. Then the app has five tabs for Account, Status, Settings, Gallery, and Help. Captured images are displayed as small size of image in tile mode, and it has indicator of subscription plan, total time of recording, count HD videos, and number of captured images, then can be filtered by Full HD, Favorite, Humans, and Vehicles. In the Status tab provide the level of Signal, Battery, SD Card storage, Position by Latitude, then it include General Information of hardware and SIM card. Attribute that I find more useful are the Delay Second setup, Sensitivity and Schedule under Setting. From actual usage, however, the sync between hardware and the application doesn’t work in a way that I would say I can rely on what I see from the application while the device is remotely left stand alone. This reliability information is on life of battery and signal. On battery, I have it fully charged but in the application doesn’t show as such, and the signal shows 5 bars while in the device showing none. Except of these aspects, the motion sensor works nicely as it capture any movement within 100ft and store immediately on the remote server. But the application doesn’t offer options to: 1. To capture only Human, or Animal or Vehicle or so. It is just everything; 2 The filter in the application to query the images by Human only doesn’t filter by its criteria as it doesn’t show all the images that contain human. 3. The application doesn’t offer option to select if I want the images stored in the SD Card only or in the remoter server or both. 4. There isn’t option to check the level of power source generated by the solar panel. 5. On the same Solar charging, can’t tell if it is charging; 6. It feels that to get latest status of hardware often need to turn off and on to sync with the application. Note on the hardware’s short comings: 1. It allow to use it with charging cable without battery. This is good option but its USB port doesn’t have water protection if it is used with the cable, and it would diminish the brands design value. 2. The led indicators are inside the compartment for battery, there need to open it to check the actual status. It would be optimal if it is externally visible instead. A curious but nice feature, the battery can be charged as stand alone. It has its own charging port so it doesn’t have to be in the device for charging. V300 comes with 7 days free trial but it is very limited. Below some detail of plans terms extracted from the brand website. 1. Two minutes of live streaming are included during the 7-day free trial period. 2. Videos recorded to the account are 10 seconds clips in Full HD 1080p. 3. ELITE monthly add-on expires at the end of each monthly consumption period. For example, if your photo alert consumption resets every 5th of the month, your add-on will be valid until the 4th of the month. 4. Live Streaming Add-ons are added per account and can be shared between multiple V300 cameras over a 12-month period. A camera with an active plan is required. Add-ons are valid for 365 days after purchase date. Live streaming shown in High quality, the viewing time is reduced when live view is set to Max quality (40 min in High quality equals 10 min in Max quality). Now on subscription, I feel it is too limited in each plan for what it cost compared what today what mobile line for cell phone offers. Naturally they don’t have same purpose, but compared that mobile line can have hotspot feature to share network or as stand alone hotspot then could be used with device with wifi and considering those comes with better functionality, not sure the advantages. Having said that, Vosker V300 does offer unique proposition for critical need where can’t have power source connection nor WiFi in remote area, and this make useful. But considering its shortcoming and reliability on battery life while I am remote, I wouldn’t use it unless there isn’t any other option.

In principle this is a good attempt at a unit for its purpose, they just didn't think it through. What it does well: * Having a solar panel enables the battery to last much longer - potentially *never* needing to charge it depending on your installation - than it otherwise would. Great thought and addition here. * Quality of images and videos is very good. What it doesn't excel at: * The mount is a heavy-duty *wood* screw *only*. There's no application for mounting to metal. This was my need, so I had to figure something "creative" out. Contacted support and they don't offer any solutions either. So, buyer beware of where you plan on putting it. * Along the same lines, the solar panel is not adjustable. So, if your installation has you tilting the camera a good bit to get the view you need, good luck getting solar charge to hit the panel in a way that actually fills the battery. * App is rudimentary and lackluster. Nothing fancy/impressive here. In fact in some cases, it's downright unintuitive & hard to navigate. * Alerts based on motion only send you a photo. It doesn't record before/after the motion was detected so there's really *very* little benefit you gain from the notifications, which calls into question the entire thing's application. I'm not going to sit here and watch the video 24/7 - esp when: * I expected there to be some form of "subscription" or "membership" plan because somebody's got to foot the bill for using the cellular network. What I *didn't* expect was to harken back to the days of pay-per-MINUTE usage of things. You only get so many minutes of video and so many photos depending on the plan you choose. This is ludicrous in 2022. In essence you're simply nickel-and-dimed all over the place.

With the photos you shared, it seems you installed the camera as recommended. It keeps the solar panel exposed to sunlight, so it can support the lithium battery pack.
As for the motion captured by the V300, you can request a 10-second video by clicking on one of the pictures in the app and choosing the “Full HD” option in the top right corner of the screen. Not only do you request video when it matters, but it also makes the battery last longer.

    Bad Design for Remote Location

Not good for remote location. Vosker replaced this camera about a dozen times over more than a half year! Each time, I was assured that the issues would be fixed. The solar panel in inadequate to keep a charge on the battery in a remote location. I would have to invest in extra batteries and change them out regularly (probably weekly, approx). This problem exists even in summer with best sunlight conditions. The solar panel is fix slanted with the pointing of the camera. At one point I was told that pointing the camera in the direction of the sun could damage it, but the fixed slope of the solar panel is optimized when pointed south (as I'm in the Northern Hemisphere). For my remote application, I wanted to point the camera north. No power supply option on this camera even if I had power in remote location. The camera triggers pictures on trees swaying in the wind. One support tech told me that it will trigger on shadow movements as the sun moves across the sky...I have no confidence in the technical support. Wide field of view gives false triggers often. I have direct line of sight of the cellular towers and early some tech support people would still raise the signal strength as possible issue. If someone has only a few signal strength bars, tech support may use that as an excuse when there are design limitations at issue. The picture quality doesn't look very good to me, I don't know if it would help much in a forensic investigation. They did keep giving me trial subscription extensions each time they sent me a camera, but when the Fall holidays came around, I no longer had the time to support exchanging cameras and investigating the battery drain issue that needs solar cell redesign. I bought extended warrantee but not sure if good for bad design (haven't had time for that yet)?

Hello SantaClaus, the battery life depend on many factors like a low signal, the number of photos and videos taken, environmental condition, etc. You could be interested by using an alternative power source like the Universal Solar Power bank which has a rechargeable 15,000 mAh battery allowing your camera to last longer: https://www.vosker.com/product/v-pwrb/. The false triggering can happen when the trees and branches moves. Sun rays moving on the ground may cause false triggers since the camera is triggered by heat motions. If the signal is low, your camera might take longer to transmit the photos to the mobile app. For quick solutions, you can visit Vosker's website:https://www.vosker.com/support/v300/. -KM

Due to lumber thefts, we bought 2 of these cameras to help identify the thieves or let us know when the thieves were onsite so the local Sheriff could be called. The initial setup, I could not see the flashing red light outside in the daylight and to get the camera to let you know it is working. Trying to get a motion notification was a pain, I tried for 10 minutes trying to get it give me a notification and nothing. Once I was down from the ladder and was packing up, I got a notification. If you expect these cameras to let you know as soon as something happens, then go buy a different one. With a 5-10 minute delay on the notification, the thieves could be gone by the time the Sheriff’s office shows up. That is if the camera even bothers to connect to the APP. I have no clue how many times you have to power cycle the camera to get it to finally connect to the APP, I followed the directions waited to see that all lights go out and it still never connected after we moved the camera to a different spot. Vosker needs to go back to the drawing board and do work on getting the camera to connect correctly the first time and fix it so that you know its connected. The website says 100 ft detection, that is another joke, you may get 40-50 at best. The cameras were placed where we wanted them to trigger at 75 ft and that has yet to happen, the only triggers we get are maybe 40ft away. I have played with the sensitivity settings and I cannot get it detect motion past 50 ft. The actual motion detection is a joke at best. The construction crew that was onsite, walked in front of the camera approximately 30 times and the camera only recorded like 5 motion alerts. As far as the solar panel, that is even worse. The whole time we have had these cameras, the solar panel will not keep the battery charged. We have to drive out there, pull the battery and connected it to a USB charger and then wait the hours it takes to charge back up, and that is with clear weather and the solar panel facing the sun. We have had these cameras for 3 weeks and that is a week outside of the Best Buy returnable period, so these cameras we had hoped were theft deterrents. But after the thieves knocked the camera over, they are just basically expensive paper weights. Once these cameras are installed, all you can do is hope they stay working and actually do something, but as of right now they are a complete joke. I have to start looking for another option since these do not do what they claim they do. For anyone wanting a 4G security camera, look elsewhere, this one has poor detection and the solar panel is useless.

Very promising idea but not there yet. To start off, I used this product in a central part of a well sized city that had good cell connectivity. It was a solution to not having range of Wi-Fi in the furthest area of a property while still having good cellular signal. Easy to setup and utilized the solar capabilities mostly which was very nice. Charged the battery to full the first night and it lasted over 8 days from the first charge and solar without needing a charge again. This brand has future potential. One of the biggest cons about the product is the app functionality. On iOS the app is not designed as good as you would expect. You can also access the cameras functions from a pc but the website is the same design as the app. One annoying part of the product experience is the fact that if you plan to use the cameras features to the fullest you will have to pay for all the features! Amazing how a brand can gatekeep features from a product like this! Yes it is cellular, of course a price comes with that but the fact you have to pay for a subscription experience that has issues when you try to use it is an insult. It costs $20 for 40 mins of live-streaming in addition to the $20 a month for the elite plan. There is a bug that happened several times where you try to view the livestream but the camera shows nothing and says there is no connection. Then when you check your minutes remaining it shows that you have been using the minutes even though you have no camera signal or view of a live feed. Also the camera needed to be hard reset several times so do not think it will work perfect every time and the only way to reset it is the button inside of the battery hatch so if you have it in a hard to reach place it will be a pain. Most of the experience feels like it’s about the paid subscription service vs the actual reliability of the camera itself. Although it may be useful in some situations you will have to tend to it and troubleshoot some problems like when you need to reset it. There were several times when the camera status said it was fine and had connection but would not show or update any movement motion or people until it was hard reset again. Also you can not access any images that the camera captures unless you are subscribed even if it was already captured within the trial. Overall a good idea and I believe the brand will either improve or they will fail due to the technical issues and overall reliability along with the cost of the subscription monthly and the cost of adding live-streaming features which is an essential feature for a SECURITY CAMERA.

Garbage product, literally pointed at the sun a place with zero clouds and it dies. Would be better to run power pole and a fiber optic than to use these. Let alone the nickle and dime scheme to use some 10 second video option or grainy photos. The kicker? The company releases a large solar panel battery bank that might actually work. There is literally no point to this product, albeit to take 20 a month for a camera Im far away from that is now dead. Ring solar was equally trash for my door bell, fwiw. Should have just put a 50 dollar trail cam and checked it next month. Lasted less than 2 weeks with not a lot of triggering. So many words written for such waste of time product.... Oh yeah, it asked "ease of use" and it was literally impossible to set up - don't make an account first, or it bricks that email, like some other reviews said lol. If that happens try adding a + to your Gmail address, search Google for more info on that. Will be returning God help me they take this dumpster fire product.

Hello PEBKAC, before using the V300, you have to charge the lithium battery pack for at least 24 hours. Battery life is greatly dependent on photos or videos taken, transfer frequency, signal strength, and other environmental conditions. The camera has the choice of ECO mode to greatly lengthen the battery life. The new Solar Panel power bank is a good add-on since it has an integrated 15,000 mAh battery: https://www.vosker.com/product/v-pwrb/. Great possibilities, Poor performance. Camera worked well for a few days, but then it stopped communicating. I purposely placed this camera out of easy reach and now they say I need to retrieve it and upload a new version of the Operating Firmware. The Solar panel is insufficient to maintain an adequate charge. I placed the camera facing south, but the power level dropped every day. Three weeks of use, and the battery is dead. I live in another state, so I was super-excited about the concept. I don't have the time, or the airfare to babysit this camera.

This is a very poorly designed security camera. I purchased the 1st V300 and could not get it to work and returned it to BB. Got a 2nd V300 from BB. This time I went through Vosker customer service to get the unit to work. I still had problem with the 2nd V300, and Vosker sent me a replacement battery. The new battery fully charged only lasted exactly 30 days. The built-in solar panel doesn't charge the battery properly. Vosker solution is for me to purchase their $130 solar panel, after I paid for the V300 for $450. Another bad design, the SIM, memory card, and battery is at the back. If you have to change the battery, or want to get the memory card, you would have to remove the V300 from the mount, and then remount and realign the camera. I mounted this camera at a site I manage in Metro-Atlanta, so I have very strong cell signal which should not affect the battery life. My advice to you, don't waste your money on this. I am now looking for a cellular security camera that has pan, tilt, and zoom feature.

Hello AlexanderL, the battery life can depend on the number of photos or videos that are transmitted to the app. The battery can also drain quickly if you have it set to transmit at each detection. By using the Universal Solar Panel, your camera will have better battery life. -KM
