Excellent Movie! With the Dolby Atmos and the Dolby Vision, this movie makes you feel like you are there. Tom Cruse and Dakota Fanning are great in this movie. From the quiet moments to the intense action segments this movie will leave you checking every squeak or loud noise that you hear. I highly recommend this movie to anyone, but especially to those who have or are setting up a home theater with a 4K tv and a Dolby Atmos AVR system. And if you don’t have one, check with Best Buy. They have everything for your home theater system needs.

This is the best I ever seen this movie and the audio alone is definitely worth buying the disc for. Playing in Dolby vision and atmos. I know the video is not as clean as today movies as this movie was originally filmed in 35mm. So it has that grainy look on it but with Dolby vision it’s looks way better then the blu ray and I’m watching it on a lg oled. I’m very happy with this and recommended it.

Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg fans too young or not familiar with the 1953 Gene Barry and George Pal classic version of War of the Worlds will not be disappointed with the 4K upgrade given to this version by Paramount. Near reference quality audio and video makes this a fan must own. Grain is intact. Audio choice of Dolby Atmos or DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio. In my opinion, while the audio is great for special effects, I found Dakato Fanning's screaming a little shrill at times. But a small price to pay for this excellent 4K Feature Film.

The video has been improved as the disc is sourced from a 4K digital intermediate. Audio has been remixed to Dolby Atmos but there is a caveat, the low end extension has been filtered so you will need additional hardware to hear the deepest frequencies if you have a capable subwoofer. Overall ambient dynamics are improved over the previous 5.1 mix

I still can not believe how poorly this movie was received by critics and viewers alike. I love this movie!! The acting is first rate, this version of the tripods and aliens is the best, it is mostly action and character driven, and Tom Cruise is the star. What's not to like? Anyway, I thought that the 4K was noticeably better than my Blu Ray which I have watched multiple times. And I am sure that I will watch my 4K again as I am looking to upgrade to a 65" OLED in late 2020.

Just an upgrade from Blu Ray version. It’s pretty cool to see some accurate colors. Although I do hate film grain so much, it uses film grain so heavily in this movie. Strangely, towards the end where Tom and Dakota were safely camped in the basement of some strange man’s house. Some dark scenes where there were actually NO film grain makes the scenes look so fantastic. I’m pretty picky when it comes to picture quality. The film is okay in terms of picture quality. But steelbook is so nice.

Is this a good movie? It has its moments. The familiar story may look a little strange to some but this version is a bit closer to the H.G. Wells novel as the engines of destruction are huge walking tripods instead of the classic flying craft from the 1953 movie. In other ways it strays far from the book. The special effects are still pretty good and film grain is retained in this transfer. The video and audio quality are top notch. You can shake the home theater with this soundtrack. If you enjoy this movie this is the copy to own.

This movie has been out for a long time on Blu-Ray and DVD, but this new 4K version is the best way to watch it. Detail is amazing and the HDR really helps with the quality of the many dark scenes. The only thing stopping a 5 star rating for me is the new Dolby Atmos soundtrack. While depth and detail are astounding, the extremely low bass from the Blu-Ray release has been cut back. There's still plenty of bass, but this new mix is just not as potent. Still, this release is the best way to watch this movie.
