Purchased 4 in total for a qnap NAS. They're not speed demons but were never intended to be. They've been running for weeks with no issue.
These drives are NAS drives and wouldn't necessarily be suitable for a desktop where speed is concerned but work great in a raid array for storage.
Nice and quiet and running at a reasonable 95 degrees for the drives closest to the cpu and 93 degrees for the drives farthest from.
The price is right also. If you have a 4 drive enclosure and intend to do a raid 10 I would recommend larger drives as the 4 drives total 12TB total but only 6TB usable after raid 10 is setup.
Raid 6 would give you better mileage but worse performance.

This drive replaced another WD red drive. This drive works well as the other seven I have. From experience if you have a drive failure WD is good about replacing the unit. This is a RED as is you call best buy they do not know that, even if you call the store and they read the box.

I bought this Red drive for my second bay in my 2 drive bay NAS. It match the drive capacity of my initial drive. My NAS drives are now RAID1. I would buy again.

Storage has been static in prices and in capacity for a while now. With DSLRs and cameras we need reliable storage for our precious memory. This unit is it.

Western Digital (in my opinion) makes the most dependable drives available. This one will add nicely to my storage array!

Insert drive into computer, format, copy files, rinse, repeat. Files are safely stored on the seemingly endless storage hole that 3Tb provides. Quiet, doesn't eat too much or complain about bad files being copied. All "Stays Golden Ponyboy" with WD!

I am pleased with this drive as it has served me well so far, BUT I regret not spending the extra $ on the GOLD enterprise class drives as they are substantially less likely to lose all of your data due to a minor earthquake or someone bumping your PC... I will be purchasing a few GOLD drives as my primary means of backups as I do not trust these after hearing how many people have lost their data.

It was suggested I get a new hard drive before old one crashed so I did. It appears the new drive and accompanying build has fixed another problem of random reStarting

hard to review an HD so quickly after buying it since one of the most important things for me is it's longevity... I've been using it for a few weeks now and it hasn't broken yet, so far so good. Other than that, it's as advertised

Got this WD Red 3TB to replaced a failed drive on a NAS. I installed 3 x new drives a little over 2 years ago, and now one failed. The NAS is not heavily being used, it only does backup at nights. Will see how the others and this one go.

NAS drives hopefully better longevity than consumer drives, and better RAID compatibility (though I'm not using that). Price was decent for those attributes. I have had several of these for a few months, so way too early to tell how they'll hold up. Not fast, but for backup / USB storage (hoping they) are good enough.Time will tell...
