There is a very low chance of this happening but it happened to me. This drive has the chance of corrupting your other drives including your C drive. Windows now just has endless blue screens of death and cannot be recovered. I'm forced to re-install windows and praying it didn't brick my other drives. Whatever you do just buy a Samsung drive. They have no chance of this happening. Read other reviews for the 850x. If you sort by 1 star you will see other people with similar problems as me. I took the chance and now I regret it with every fiber of my being. If you like to gamble with your data and your time then take the chance on this drive. Just be warned, it has the chance of ruining your windows drive and possibly other drives as well.

As was out of BB 15-day return period had to send to WD under an RMA and, as of writing, has been there a month despite being "escalated" per tech support and will not give a repair return commitment. Disappointing service by WD.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.While cloning my olds M.2 on to this one (a process I've done many times and am familiar with) the transfer stopped midway through and threw a hardware fault code. My old drive was fine, still bootable and no issues were found in a diagnostic. The new WD drive however, was now a brick. It could not be accessed or recognized in anyway by two different systems. I returned it for a Samsung M.2 which performed flawlessly.

The one i received was a used samgsung 512 gb with someone else's copy of windows. Apparently someone purchased wd drive and switched packages then returned to store. Customer service was awesome and helped me with a slightly faster 2tb drive and saved some cash as well.

Along with the heat sink the WD SSD for the PS5 works as advertised and runs smoothly. Installation was also easy. When the WD SSD come down in price it will be an even better value.
