I loaded everything from my computer which included about 2300 pictures, some over 20 years old, onto this hard drive to make sure I would have a copy. This is a true story, my computer crashed two weeks later and I lost everything. Thankfully I had all info on this external hard drive.

With so many drives out there, it's hard to make the right choice. Plus they have many options like mainstream, high performance, hybrid, etc. I have personally found over the years that Western Digital has lasted longer, ran better, and was more cost effective. Dollar per Gig.. I use this for gaming and it runs great and fast. I didn't need to upgrade to the Performance series.

Reliable as always. Only reason I replaced the old one was because my 500GB was 8 yrs old and while replacing a PS I hit the data cable some how and busted off the plastic tab the cable connects to. Only pins were left sticking out. Luckily I was able to super glue it and get the cable back on to do my data transfer. Even the pins were sturdy.

Simple installation, hard drive is working very smooth.

If you are looking for a cheap drive that will perform well then this is the drive for you. I run a computer repair shop and for customers who aren't looking to game and don't want to spend a lot of money this is always the drive I use. I have used dozens of these drives and only had issues with a couple (as to be expected nothing is perfect.)

I needed new hard drives for my Raid 5 configured home built computer (Binford 2000). The Seagate Drives only lasted a year and a half. I used them because I was looking at a long waiting period for WD which was my initial choice. Wish I had waited. I am sure these drives will last for several years! Great value for the price.
