It's a big hard drive

I tried hooking it up as an external USB connected drive to a 4th Gen 2TB Apple Time Capsule (connected to the laptop by ethernet cable), but backups created that way would not validate. It works fine for Apple Time Machine backup over a USB connection, so this seems most likely either a limit of the Time Capsule OS in handling large drives, or an harbinger of the Capsule's incipient failure.
