Customers appreciate the My Book 6TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive's massive storage space, reliability, and ease of use. Many also praise its affordability and quiet operation, along with the fast transfer speeds enabled by the USB 3.0 connection. The compact size is another frequently cited positive. Horrible... Dead on Arrival
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I really wanted to believe my experience with Western Digital was going to be different this time, it could be further from the truth. I work in IT (20+ years) and I have not had the best experiences with Western Digital products in the past (outside of their SSD laptop travel drives). I opened up the box carefully to make sure not to rip the box. In the event that I needed to take the unit back. I plugged the drive into my Windows 10 machine and it was installing the drivers. Great! Unfortunately the drive never appeared in Windows Explorer. So I started troubleshooting. I immediately opened up the computer manager and looked at the drive and it said "Not Initialized." I thought maybe it was something simple. Nope, I followed a series of instructions, downloaded WD software to run repairs, etc. Nothing worked. The drive was dead. I couldn't erase it, update it, run diagnostics, etc. This unit, new in box, was dead. I would love to say this is my first experience like this with WD, but unfortunately it is not. Their My Book series is garbage. I do not recommend them to anyone. Do not buy it.

Rolls Royce for price now TOTAL CRAP
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have around 40 MYBOOK drives. These were awesome and worked flawless for years. My last 3 purchased fall of 2019 for 6 gig to last month are now down to ONE. The drive is now cheap cheap quality for durability. My last drive died yesterday. These drives die from just about sneezing on them. Drive standing as their sample image, tipped over and now DEAD. What good is a replacement when i have images i can't replace on the drives. CRAP. By the way. ALL my other drives used for years work perfect. But stay clear. No idea what brand is worthy but this great drive 4GIGS and less is now TOTAL CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
