I found it difficult to set this up for auto backup on a windows 10 desktop. I eventually got it working, but it took a number of hours to do so. It should not be this difficult to setup.

The MyCloudMirrior worked fine originally. Now the device shows "offline" when I try to access it on the internet. I can not see it on my network either. Unable to repeat setup.

Had trouble configuring. Not user friendly. Never functioned properly. WD support said to return drive. WD website for RMA wouldnt work properly. Tried to call support, which opens at 8am CST, but they were closed even though after 8am. (Had to dial "1" for English.) I would like to return product but it is past BB return period. How can I trust this product?

I bought this fir two reasons. 1. So I could save photos to this drive vs taking up space on laptop. Not nearly as easy saving to this drive vs laptop. 2. Auto backup protection. Meaning the peace of mind of having all photos backed up to second drive. But since you can't see backup to verify- I have NO peace of mind. If I had known you can't see backup I would have never bought this drive.

    Another mild disappointment

Having bit the bullet in November and buying the 2tb My Cloud and finding it to be less than stellar I decided to wait for the 2nd generation Mirror to come out. It installed easily and I thought the waiting had cured all the problems. It didn't. The install was easy and it was up and running in 15 minutes. The problems started when I tried to set the desktop quick open shortcut. It seems the software once again is not ready for user consumption. Every time I try to open the Mirror, the My Cloud is the one that appears. It also disconnects both units if you try to switch from one to the other. If you start out with the My Cloud and then disconnect the My Cloud when you are done and connect the Mirror it works. As with anything over a wi fi network it is a little slow. One BIG plus is that you can take the Time Machine backups and lock them with a password so no one can access them with the mirror. The My Cloud let you un public the Time Machine, but you could not password protect it. In setting up the Mirror I had to use another e mail address as using the same one as I used to set up my MY Cloud gave me a message saying that address was already in use. All in all I am rating this 3 stars as I can't give 3 1/2. The Mirror is working as it is supposed to, it is the decided lack of blending and easy directions in the box that costs it 1 1/2 stars. It seems that WD expects everybody to have an associates degree in computer technology.

Great for photo and video backups... Streams all!

Setup was a little tricky... after a firmware update if you can't log into the dashboard... do a "40 second reset"... unplug the power, put a paper clip in the reset hole in back, hold it there, plug power back in... wait 40 secs... let go, then log in after all 3 lights are steady blue. Running 2 apps (Twonky and Logitech Media Server/ SqueezeCenter) perfectly streaming movies (mp4) and music. Don't bother with Plex for movies... not enough power. Twonky streams movies, video and photos to Roku, PS 3 & 4 and Xbox One and 360

WD Mirror Drive NOT as advertised.

    Posted .

WD Acronis downloadable software, is worthless. The only icon that functions is to make a mirror drive. All other selections such as restore, and others, when selected results with a pop-up rectangular icon, stating not available in this version. Absolutely no instructions included in box or otherwise. The web site does not provide a download for instructions. Best Buy should remove all WD products from their web site and stores. Western Digital is making a bad name for Best Buy. Very regretfully I purchased a WD 4gb mirror drive for myself and one for a gift. I absolutely would not recommend any Western Digital product to anyone and I definitely will not purchase a West Digital product againl

    Great Network Drive

I purchased this as a network/backup drive for our church. So far it has performed well. The write speeds are quick and accessing the drive over the network is fast and easy. We have been using it for about a month. If any issues arise or the drive fails I will update this review.

Can't Connect Directly to PC. Network Only.

    Posted .

Why does this have USB ports but cannot connect to a PC via them is unbelievable. I understand this is a NAS but it is basically the same as the regular mirror version. However, it just will not function as a directly attached external HDD. Why? What if I want to have both network and direct connect functionality? I might be able to overlook it if anywhere on BestBuy or Western Digital's specification and description for this hardware stated that. Of course, they do not. This is a network only device for those of you who wanted the functionality of both.

    Worst Product I EVER bought

Took this home, connected it up. No manual, no help whatsoever in the box. All on-line. Did the online setup. It told me I was ready.. Ready for what? It sent me an email to set my password. Opps doesn't work with Windows Edge. Too bad all, and I mean all of this thing is on-line. Finally found a pdf of the manual. the manual had links to webpages, that had no answers, could not access the device. Put it back in the box and returned it to Best Buy in 2 hours. Do not buy this item it is garbage

    Unstable, slow, support is lacking

The device performs extremely slowly. The software that Western Digital provides to manage files crashes constantly. I've contacted support multiple times requesting a refund. They instead provide a replacement device. Performance never improved. At my most recent request for refund, WD asked me to return the product for exchange. They then told me they would not replace it because the tape had been tampered with. I inquired further and the story changed to the device had been received by them disassembled. To date, they refuse to resolve the issue.
