I like the fact that you can throw all your files (music/movies/etc.) and stream it to any mobile device. Great for streaming videos to a tablet during long roadtrips. It streams 1080p files with ease. Stream music files to your phone while out or at work. Connect it to your home wireless network and stream video to your smart TV's. I initially purchased the 1TB version but returned it for the 2TB version thinking the larger storage will be very useful at some point. The fact that you can download an SD Card to the drive while on the go from your DSLR is an added bonus.
Well worth the purchase if your willing to spend the money.

Yes this item is pretty cool, but doesn't work as well as I expected. I'm using with iPad Air and I thought it was supposed to display raw files so long as iPad recognized file type, but not so. Works much better for jpgs. You have to wait for even jpgs to load. I expected it to be faster. However I'm still giving this 5 stars because it's much better than other hard drives you can buy today. Nice size for portability. Beautiful item and package.

I think that the design is outstanding, very small and compacted with a lot of room for storing pictures and video's. Very easy to use, it is a plug and play. Its also better than a camera, it is one of the devices that will store your memory and freezes time.

Purchased this drive for two main reasons. First, wanted to be able to share my content with my wife while we traveled. This included movies and music. Second, wanted to be able to backup my digital photos from my SD cards while on vacation without having to take a laptop with me. In both cases, this drive worked perfectly. My wife and I were able to stream different movies from the drive to our tablets on our flights. This is a great feature. Also, downloaded all the pictures off of my SD card daily while travelling. It is not a fast process, but it is easy enough to start it and walk away without having to worry about it.

No wires!! Built in battery and Wifi!! 2TB!! One gripe, it's formatted in FAT32. If you want ntfs like me you will have to format. I plan to make a FAT32 partition and a ntfs partition. Most people will likely be ok with FAT. Unfortunately, you still have to charge the battery but then, No wires!! Did I mention it's wireless?

Was in the market for a new external drive for my photos. I shoot in raw+jpeg so I needed a big drive to dump on to and sort later. Before I got this i had to go through my laptop but with the card reader I can stick my sd in the drive during lunch and have it all dumped onto the drive for later review. No need to be tethered to a laptop and since I shoot MFT this helps me maintain a smaller kit for shoots that are off the trail.

The first drives wifi would not come online but had no problem with the Replacement drive. The drive seem very durable and had no problems during my trip. Transfer of data from my camera (sd cards) was a breeze and the main reason I purchased the drive. I did run into problems using micro sd cards. At times, it would not read the cards. Tried different adaptors and sometimes they would work and other time the same adaptor would fail. overall, a very fast and reliable portable storage for a photographer on the road without the need to carry a laptop. Lastly, the wifi speed was not up to par to stream videos.

It wasn't as fast as the My Passport Ultra. The wireless feature is nice for devices such as tablets and smartphones although transfer can be kinda slow. It was sluggish and I wasn't too impressed with it. It reminded me a lot of the MyCloud. Personally, I didn't like it and would prefer a My Passport Ultra

I love this new wireless hard drive from Western Digital. The ability to share everything stored on this device with any computer without a connected wire is amazing. A must have for any neat freak like me out there that hates a ton of cords running through an office.

As advertised, 2TB drive (approx 1.8 TB available), awesome wi/fi features, can stream directly from the drive or connect to a wifi and further stream or transfer from there!! Definitely would recommend!!!

While it was a little quirky to get going, once I got through my misunderstandings, it has worked really well. I was able to copy my entire music library to it and play back all the tracks with no problems and sounding great. Still working on videos.
The wifi is great while remote, but it can also hop on to an existing wifi and bridge the connection allowing device to browse the internet while connected to the My Passport drive.

I Love these WD - Passports. Have purchased at least 30 of them for our employees for a mobile backup/storage drive. Have not had any issues with these and they setup quickly and move data very quickly. Would recommend this to everyone!

This external hard drive offers a lot for the price. Although it is a starter model, in my opinion, it works well and is easy to use. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to back up your data this is what I would recommend you buy, Durable, reliable and easy to use. What more could you ask for?

I bought this to download files from an Ipad and Iphone that were running out of space. I found this was easy to use, and accomplished the task. I still had to delete the files from the two devices manually, but that's probably a good security requirement

My wife, four sons and I are all SCUBA divers who go on dive excursions together. I use a GoPro 4 Black, my wife uses a SeaLife under water camera & the boys have various camera / video devices. The MyPassport allows all of us to offload our pictures & photos to the device at the end of each day - eliminating the need for a multitude of SD cards. We can then connect to it from a laptop, iPad, phone or smart TV to watch all our footage. When we get home we move the info to my WD MyCloud storage device and are ready for another trip ! Great little device as long as you handle it carefully - as it is still a hard drive that should not be bounced around.

Love MyPassport Wireless device. I use it as when I travel to share the photos and videos I take with my friends that are traveling with me. They can see what amazing animals we see on our scuba dives. Also great storing videos to watch movies during the long waits a flights on the trip:)

I'm really not the one to ask for a review. Mine would be 'well it sits on the desk taking up as much room as a novel but shorter, tidily holding tons of files, photos and more that we had accumulated over many years'. My relative is the true one to ask. Having worked for, and with, Top Hardware and Software Companies. She choose the Passport Drive for my companies' backup storage in preparation for replacement system.
