Just what the doctor ordered

Couldn't understand why I couldn't use my existing hard drive with time machine or to save pics from my Apple. Did a little research and discovered that I would need to format the old hard drive to use with Apple but formatting would have erased all saved material. Therefore, purchased this. Plugged it in and that was it. Time Machine backs up everyday and can save all pics and videos from the Apple.
