CMR drives
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased 5 of these and had them delivered. One was DOA but Best Buy swapped it out in store for me. The WD Red Plus (and Pro) drives at this time are CMR - which is what you want for a NAS. We have a media server at home and these were used to increase the amount of storage. They're running in a double parity ZFS pool. They've been online for a month or so. No problems with and of the drives dropping out.

Always bet on Red
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WD Red is the only way to go if you have home NAS servers. I've been running home QNAP servers for 15 years running 24/7. Every other brand hard drive dies after 1-3 years. These Red drives can easily go 4-8 years. Red are the workhorse drives, not the fastest (see WD Black for PCs).

So far, so good. Happy trails.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've installed this drive in a Drobo5N and it is working without error. This is the 3rd WD Red drive I've purchased for this NAS over the last 6 years, and the other 2 are still working perfectly. When the last 2 fail, they will be replaced with WD Red drives.

great NAS drive. Works perfect on my unraid.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had it for over a month now running 24/7 on my unraid setup with zero issues at all. I know its a short amount of time to gauge reliability, but I've had drives from other manufacturers die on me a few days in. Have had zero issues with this one so far.

Working well
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this WD Red to use in a FreeBSD server running Bhyve for virtual machines as a home lab system. It's working great for that purpose. It's relatively quiet and access times are OK. I'm using it with ZFS as a single drive pool currently.

Good and reliable
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Western Digital Red Plus (4TB) is a good and reliable drive. This hard drive is better suited for NAS compared to the regular REDs due to its lifespan and reliability. My first choice was the Seagate NAS series drive but it was out of stock and this is a good alternative.

WD drives
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using WD hard drives for at least 20 years and I've never had an issue with them. It's a brand I trust and hope their quality stays that way. I've had these specific drives in a NAS for five years without a hiccup.

great nas drive
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought a Qnap nas and decided to go with the WD red plus drives. I installed to 4tb drives in a raid 0 and so far no problems. The drive is very quiet and runs cool for being in a nas enclosure.

Nice quiet drive.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quiet high capacity drive. The 5400 rpm speed limits data transfer speed a little, but the reduction in noise is worth it to me. I can barely hear this drive spin up. A 7200 rpm drive is quiet loud in comparison.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to replace an old drive that failed and i am so happy how seemless the replacement went. It was just plug and play and it really made my day so i didnt have to stress as much.

Perfect for my Synology NAS!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These drives are great for my Synology Disk Station. Just plug them in and tell the DSM to format them and let them go to town! Nothing more to do except rest assured your data is backed up!

Good CMR drive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid NAS focused drive, for the price. I have several WD Reds and have no issues. Stay away from SMR drives.

Solid Drives
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are rugged drives. I bought a set of four to replace the six year old set in my NAS (WD PR4100). The originals (exact same model of WD Red) ran continuously (24 x 7) for six years. Recently two of the original drives had a temporary drive fault, that cleared after restarting the NAS. Instead of waiting for them to catastrophically fail - I decided to do the slow process of replacing all four. So far two replacements have gone flawlessly - my NAS is in RAID 5 configuration, so a drive can fail and not affect the data. Since these are the exact same part number as the six year old originals, I'm guessing these will live a long life in my NAS.

Too loud
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The main reason I bought this was to replace my barracuda, which I didn't like because of its distracting sound. This one wound up being just as loud however, with constant clicking noises. It works in the sense it'll store your data. I just wish the noise was less prominent.

Dependable NAS drive
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The WD Red Plus drive is a 5400 RPM drive that is pretty dependable. It will last the three years it is warranted for but seems to fail after that. I had Seagate and Toshiba drives and they failed a lot more often than I'D like. If you want a more reliable drive, go for the Red Pro.
