So far, so good. Excellent drive!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, so good. Replaces a shingling Seagate drive that died. One of FOUR that I had, and none of them are still running! What a disaster. I was able to get some data off of it, and it was backed up, but it's a pain to comb through backups looking for files. I've got 30 year old drives still running! OUCH!!!

Highly Recommended NAS Drive
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great NAS hard drive. Slotted right into the Synology we use. I chose this as Anandtech listed it as one of the best and so far it’s been up to snuff. Running it in Raid with another one. Nothing beats an old spinning drive for long term storage. Had a power outage and it still kept the data and no errors. Of course it’s wise to have a battery backup but as a test of its merits it did well.

CMR Red Plus
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good drive. WD played with the "red" line of drives awhile back. Switched some to SMR which is HORRIBLE for NAS, SMR pretty much no good for any 24/7 applications. Amazingly enough, even after this fiasco WD STILL sells SMR NAS drives under the "red" brand. Now you have to buy "Red Plus" to get a CMR drive. This one IS Red Plus so IS CMR. This drive is good.

Budget NAS drive that lasts.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WD Red Plus is still my favorite NAS drive. I have multiple 4TB and 8TB Red Plus drives in my NASs for many years and they have lower operating temperature and longer life than the other brands that I got. This is a retail version that packaged very well. Other vendors often sell OEM version and shipped without protection.
