    These works great, they are replacing two older red SMR drives that were starting to fail in a MyCloud NAS. The extra capacity is plus too. These are CMR drives.

    Bought a pair of these for my 2 bay NAS. They're in RAID 1 and havent had any problems. Stuffed to the max with skin flix, movies, music ,and tv shows to watch on the fly with plex.

    I've always had good experience with WD hard drives. This is my first 8 TB drive. The real review will be many years from today since longevity and reliability are really what I'm looking for. This rating is for initial impressions. I've already filled the drive more than 50% full and now it'll go off-site for long term backup.

    The 8tb was on sale at a very competitive price so I bought 4 for a NAS that I hadn’t yet put into service. They are reasonably quiet but definitely not silent. The proof is whether they last 3 to 5 years with no issues.
