Customers are impressed with the 4.3 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer's cleaning performance and large capacity, finding it easy to use and a good value for the price. However, some customers noted that the washer can be noisy and that the lack of an agitator, less-than-ideal spin cycle, and absence of a fabric softener dispenser were drawbacks. A small number of users also reported reliability issues.

Sylina: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We recommending loading the clothing loosely around the edge of the tub to ensure that the wash plate in the middle is not covered. This will allow the clothes to move freely during the cycle. You may also want to try using the Deep Wash setting. If you have tried these things are you are still experiencing an issue, please respond back to this email address [email protected] with your name, phone number, street address, zip code, model & serial number, and date of purchase on the appliance. Please also provide a description of your concerns. We look forward to your reply.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this particular machine. Looked at several different brands. I am not familiar with the newer machines and was not sure which one to get. Preferred knobs over buttons, but call me old fashioned. The different rinse cycles was a plus. Don't particularly like that the lid locks when on rinse as a safety feature, but I can get around that. I wanted a larger machine, able to wash a king sized bed spread and this one definitely fits the bill. I still can't believe how much this thing can hold. As for the noise that are in some reviews: it is a washing machine, really ?? They make noises. Some of the sounds are different than my old machine, but it is not any louder, and this one doesn't vibrate the house like my old machine did on the spin cycle. I can tell you that buying this machine from Best Buy was totally seamless and could not have been easier and they were the cheaper price from the stores in the area with the same washer. They even wrapped the box in plastic for me because it was raining.

I am going to start this review by addressing all the negative comments...
Is the washer Noisy???
The washer makes noise (more than my old washer) but nothing I would classify as extremely noisy or distracting. I think it all depends on where you house your washer. Mine is kept in an attached garage, and although I can occasionally hear it when walking by, it is nothing that would distract me from carrying on with my daily business. Most of the noise comes from the fact that the washer does not fill up with water the way older washers do. It's energy efficient so it sprays your clothes intermittently throughout the cycle until it gets the desired clean.
Does this washer leave clothes sopping wet like other customers have claimed?
I have done over 20 loads, easy, in the last two weeks and not once have my clothes come out overly wet. The machine works just as expected. The secret....READ THE MANUAL. it will take you less than 10 minutes to get through the thin manual that comes with the machine. It will tell you how to lay your clothes around the center piece and it will tell you the desired wash cycle for the type of load you are doing. If you are doing towels or bulky items, don't use extra light setting to try to save time. This is probably why those costumers got wet wet clothes. Follow the directions and it will work every time.
Does this washer take a super long time to complete a cycle?
Unfortunately, this washer does take about 40 min to complete a cycle but that's only because it's saving you water and energy. Embrace this change. Dishwashers are the same way now. So although the cycle takes longer, this washer drum is HUGE which means you can pretty much do two loads in one. If you look at it that way, you are technically saving time.
I love this washer. I was skeptical because of all the negative comments, but it's been great. It's a little noisier than older washers, it takes a little longer, but like I said, it holds so much more and saves you water and energy. You can't go wrong with that combination!!! Don't let the negative reviewers keep you from making a wise choice. Who would take advice from someone that returns a washer after one load. Who does that???

I think the "newer" washers are terrible and suck at doing their job. My clothes come out very wrinkled, and not enough water is used to was the items. I don't know or believe that my clothes are getting cleaned with this new system.

I feel like the washer has very little water added, no matter what setting I use, and the clothes come out all twisted together. I can't tell if the clothes are even clean, but as it churns the clothes in the washer, the top of the clothing feels dry.

Wish i would have read reviews of washer before purchase. This washer uses a bad sensing system to determine amount of water used which sounds good and economical but it barely puts an in or 2 of water in the machine to wash the clothes in it.

This washer has no compartment for detergent or liquid fabric softener. Liquid detergent needs to be poured at the bottom of the bowl and then you have to wait for rinse cycle to pour your liquid detergent. It was too much work I returned

I went from a standard washing machine to this high efficiency machine, and I expected this washer to be far superior to what I replaced, and this is not the case. This machine does clean items well. However, the spin cycle does not do a good enough job getting the water out of heavy items like sweatshirts and bed sheets. These items are so wet that I can ring water out of them. This wouldn't be a big deal, but this washer doesn't have an option to have an extra spin cycle to get the water out. You have to instead select the 'rinse and spin' option which is a complete lengthy cycle of rinsing and spinning to get the water out - not very energy/water efficient, if you ask me. I have had issues with overly wet items on a variety of cycles, whether it is the 'heavy duty' or 'normal' cycle -- and this problem is not from packing the machine with too many items like the Whirlpool manual says.
The other issue I have with this washer is that the water shut off valves shut the water off so quickly that it created water hammer issues with my pipes. This is an issue I never even knew could occur until I bought this washing machine. My water pipes would bang so loudly in the wall and create such a significant vibration that I thought I had major plumbing issues. After searching online, I discovered that many other people report this same issue with this brand of machine. To solve the problem I had to spend more money to buy mini-rester valves to attach to the washer before hooking up the water lines to the rester valves. Personally, since Whirlpool is aware of this issue, I feel they should have included the rester valves in the purchase of the washing machine instead of making their customers go to the hardware store to spend money on an issue created by the product.
I know some of the other reviewers have mentioned the noise level of the machine. Since this is my first high efficiency machine, the unusual noises of the washer sensing the clothes and the locking/unlocking of the lid really threw me off at first. The sensing step makes a strange hum/grind noise that takes time getting used to, and the odd pop/snap noise the lock makes sounds as if something broke on the machine. During the actual washing of the clothes the machine seems to make a noise comparable to a low pulsating blender. Now that I've had the machine a month, I'm not concerned with the strange noises. But, if you are sensitive to noise or have a main floor laundry, you may find the noise level of this machine to be obnoxious.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this machine, especially not for someone who frequently does large, heavy loads of laundry. The price was decent, but I wish I would've returned the machine when I had the chance and spent a little more money on a better quality product.
