Customers are impressed with the 4.3 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer's cleaning performance and large capacity, finding it easy to use and a good value for the price. However, some customers noted that the washer can be noisy and that the lack of an agitator, less-than-ideal spin cycle, and absence of a fabric softener dispenser were drawbacks. A small number of users also reported reliability issues.

Bought this washer in May of 2021. It has stopped spinning and can’t be repaired. I know things are made cheap today, but I thought I’d get more than 2 years. I do not recommend

Despite many different attempts to try different methods, I have given up on dark clothes coming out of this washer without white soap residue all over them. I emailed a Whirlpool customer service rep for assistance and received a cut-and-pasted response telling me to contact a live service repairman and be ready to pay for the service call. (I bought these four months ago.) A positive is that the exterior style is very nice. I miss my old top load agitator model that let me control the settings and did a better job.

Another piece for the junk heap

Purchased Washer and Dryer in February 2015. True to form, the dryer began to have problems in March 2018. Then the washer started acting up in April 2018 - would not spin clothes dry and we had to put through another spin. Saturday the 19th of May, the dryer stopped working - no air flow at all. So fed up with these two products. Remember when you could buy a washer and dryer that lasted for 10 years or more? Those days may be gone. So we went cheaper on next purchase - bought a GE set for $499 each. Reasoning - the simpler the model, the less things that can break. Do not waste money on Maytag, Whirlpool or Kenmore - they all break down far too quickly. Not sure about other brands, but GE used to build good products so we are going to try them again. Stay away from expensive sets until the manufacturers learn how to build them so that they last longer than 3 years.

Weird Machine

Makes all kinds of sounds and noises. Vibrates excessively and can easy go off balance and bounce all over the place. And wrinkles the heck out of your clothes. I've done about five washes already. Clothes do not get submerged under water, reading the manual, looks like this is normal. I didn't like that I had to rearrange the blankets two times so that it would stop going off balance and bouncing. And no I did not over stuff it. Your clothes will come out all twisted and very wrinkled. Expect to spend more time on the ironing board. With my previous machine I could wear my shirts and jeans without ironing them. Not with this one that's for sure. I'm going to see about possibly exchanging it for something else.

This washer was bought to replace my old Maytag he washer. I was already familiar with wash cycles of an he machine, so, yes, this washer gets the job done. Not too noisy. It's a washer. Lol. Real basic.

I purchased this washer about 1.5 weeks ago and I really like it. It is 100% better than my last one, an LG front load washer that started leaking, it was about 7 yrs old, repair person couldn’t figure out why it leaked! I love the large tub and all the various cycles, but you do need to follow directions! I don’t need to do so many loads because of the size of the tub. The only thing I wish it had is a place to put fabric softener, you have to catch the rinse cycle to add softener, but I can deal with that. Great product and I’ve had great experiences with Whirlpool appliances. Thank you, a very pleased customer!

Do NOT buy - doesn't last in the long run

We chose this one based on reviews on various websites. Almost four years to the day this Whirlpool Cabrio washer is dead, bad bearings (which due to the design requires replacing the interior tub as well). Repair guy advised us it would cost nearly $400 to repair (parts/labor) so we shouldn't sink any money into this machine (no guarantee something else wouldn't go) and instead buy new. When I started looking online I was finding that the 'bad bearings' on this machine is common so I contacted Whirlpool noting that this seems to be a common issue (product defect) and was advised by Whirlpool that it was past the manufacturer warranty and 'due to the age of the machine' was unwilling to assist. When I went to the store to look at other machines today (NON Whirlpool - never again) the sales person said we were the second person in three days that came in with the bad bearings issues on this machine & the other customer also had one that was four years old as well (which irked me even more knowing the response Whirlpool gave me). It's unfortunate that Whirlpool doesn't stand behind their product the way an automaker does when there is a common issue that needs to be addressed (fully paid recall fix)....I would think most other consumers agree that they expect a major appliance to last longer than four years....VERY disappointed.

WORST DESIGNED WASHER - EVER !!!

I cannot begin to tell people just how much I cannot stand my Whirlpool Cabrio washer!!
It does NOT get my clothes clean! A LOT soap residue is remains in my clothes after washing!! I even have to greatly limit my washing as my water bill becomes astronomical because the only cycle that gets my clothes clean-at all, and gets all of the soap out is the bulky cycle. WORST DESIGN EVER!!!

Short lifespan

I bought this washer in July 2018. It is making grinding noises as it agitates that are getting increasingly louder. Sounds like it could go any minute. I have always been very careful not to overload it or put in too much detergent. I do not think it is going to make it to three years. The Whirlpool I had before this one lasted a little over six years and that’s a lot better than three. I am very unsure whether to go with another Whirlpool as three years is just too short of a lifespan in my opinion. Other than the lifespan, I liked the machine quite a bit.

Great HE Washer

I'd like to start off with stating that this is my first washer. I was previously renting an Estate washer in my current apartment. I was at my wits end with the amount of time a load would take and absolutely hated the agitator (it damaged my delicates and made washing bulky items impossible.) I did some research and quickly picked this washer. I was looking for something efficient and nothing too fancy. I've already told everyone that has a washer or mentioned needing one to look into this Whirlpool.

DO NOT LIKE THIS MACHINE

I wish I would have read the reviews on this machine before I purchased it. I went into the store to buy another model, but instead purchased this because it was available sooner. I do not like it at all!! It's loud, it vibrates, I don't like the fact that it doesn't have an agitator. When my clothes are finished washing, they are in knots!! I don't like the fact that it locks and you can't raise the lid to see the water level. I would love to return this machine and purchase the one I was originally going to get.

Poor quality

It is sad to see the quality go down in such a reputable manufacturer. I replaced my Whirlpool washer and dryer 3 years ago. My prior Whirlpool set lasted over 15 years.
I had procrastinated calling in the loud noisy issues until last May. In addition, the washer bucket shook so much that I found pieces of the padding on the floor beside the unit. I would also find the entire machine had walked itself into the middle of the laundry room. I reported the problem under my 3 year extended warranty and the technician had replaced the suspension parts. This did not fix the problem. I called Whirlpool and had a technician come out again today for the same problem.
After a quick diagnosis, he wanted to do the same thing and replace the suspension parts. I said and then in 6 months when it starts again, I'll be doing the same thing? He recommended replacing the washer vs repairing because now that I am outside my warranty it will be approx $300.00. For a few hundred bucks more, I can get a new one. He said this is a known problem that he has seen with this model. I asked if he knew if the manufacturer will do anything, he said they won't.
I see one that has the agitator similar to the model I currently have. This is unbelievable that after 3 1/2 years I am replacing a washer! I get the saying "that you get what you pay for" but the whole reason I bought this model is because I didnt want the one with all the bells and whistles that have a potential to fail. Maybe I need to look at switching to a different manufacturer?

Do yourself a favor and run the other way.

Please, do yourself a favor and stay away from this thing. It is as bad as people say. Half of the loads I wash are still sopping wet when the cycle ends. When I say sopping wet, I don't mean damp - I mean wring the clothes out with your hands and you'd get them dryer than this washer does. Sometimes the drain and spin cycle helps with this, but more often than not it doesn't. And it shouldn't be necessary in the first place - none of the other washers I've owned have ever had a problem simply draining out the water they put in Not to mention the fact that it randomly goes walking around the laundry room, whether there are twelve items in it or two. It's also making a noise that I swear it wasn't when I bought it - and this after owning it for two months. And I can't be sure, but I don't know that it's really getting my clothes completely clean.
In short, you'd be better off buying any other washer than this one. You'd be better off going to the laundromat with a bunch of quarters than trying to work with this thing. You'd probably have more luck with a bucket of water and a washboard than what you get from this monstrosity.

Poor Product over time

Used an old washer for many years and never had a problem. This one is loud, the cloths get off kilter on spin cycles way too often, Water stays dormant under the drum causing mildewing smells, the locking feature is poorly designed and useless, many times if you try to unlock, it cancels the cycle and then I need to unplug and replug in the washer to start a new cycle. Finally yesterday at just over 4 years old the washer broke, I hit the start button and nothing is happening. I don't want to go through the trouble of fixing it just to have the problems mentioned above. Sad Whirlpool used to be a USA staple but this product is bottom of the line.
