Within 3 months of owning the unit, the belt that turns the drum cracked -- this resulted in a heavy knocking sounds and vibrations within the unit. The tech came out to fix it and said this issue was 'very common' with this model and was a known defect. He replaced the belt. Very thankful I got the extended warranty -- it started to make the same noise again this week. Belt has cracked again. So disappointing -- I've had Whirlpool products for years. Never again. I also have the matching washer (it leaks) and a set of their poorly designed kitchen appliances, including a dishwasher and stove.

It doesn't matter if there are clothes in it or not. Immediately phone Whirlpool, and their answer is to make a service appointment. I get to spend almost $1000 to have to deal with repairmen? Not impressed.
