Great replacement oven

this oven was a replacement for an older oven we had previously. our older oven was an older white kenmore gas stove/oven that had been in the house since it was built. other than one time when the gas/pilot light totally went out on the stove, it worked well. however, after a certain period of time, like with everything, you just have to know when to let go. recently- over the past few years- our older kenmore stove/oven had been showing signs of not only wear and tear and proof that it was on its last leg and that it was time for a new one. at first, it was just screws that were popping out and coming loose on the sides of the oven door. then it progressed to where the 2 front burners totally went out and stopped working- resulting in us using the back 2 as backups. next, the oven door started to come off from its hinges, largely due to no support via screws and began to start to bend at the bottom, having what looked like a curved back shape at the very bottom. following this incident, we then had trouble opening/closing the oven- the oven would not open all the way- only opening slightly at the top- more of like you had cracked it open a little bit to let some smoke out or something. anyway, that was the biggest clue right there that it was time for a new stove/oven. trying to cook anything in the oven was a pain- let alone safety/injury risk: i cut myself on the oven door'shandle while walking by it one day due to it being unable to close properly. even worse, trying to take- let alone put anything in that oven was a case to send you to either the hospital or ER if not careful: i cannot even begin to tell you HOW MANY TIMES my family and i almost dropped that night's dinner or whatever in the oven due to the oven door being nonresponsive. in fact, i actually did waste some liquid in the oven- and it was so bad the whole house was smoky- like it was on fire and i had to open the windows to let the smoke out at night- in the frigid cold winter. BRRRR!! however, that wasnt what put the final nail in the coffin on the old 30 year if not at least 25 or more oven that was in the kitchen (yeah its been there since i was a child; never been replaced till recently): one night, while sleeping, i woke up to a strange buzzing sound- and smelled what i thought was gas. i alerted my mother to it, saying that it was strange and i didnt know where it was coming from. after determining it was coming from our old raggedy oven, we called atl gas light to come assess what was the problem. THANK GOD HE CAME IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY. the technician said that it was the oven clock that was making all that noise- and that we had a minor gas leak from one of the oven's pipes- which he quickly repaired. my mother was relieved- she thought that the gas leak was much bigger than it ended up being. the technician then unhooked the old oven, telling us not to use it and began to check for any other areas where we might have any gas leaks. thankfully, no others besides the oven- though he did fix, take out and install piping in our furnace so the pilot light would quit going out- particularly during windy days or rainy/stormy, frigid days. boyyy..did our furnace have him scratching his head/frustrated! (our house needs TONS OF REPAIR, sadly...) (- -)
after fixing that, he checked our water heater. OH LORD H-E-L-P (as in bernie mac sounding). from one thing to another..... *rolls eyes in frustration* first oven, then water heater.... technician then tells us that our water heater is on its last leg- but is not sure when it will give out. (if we only knew we should have replaced it and the stove at the same time...but thats another story..) bottom line is this: he got the furnace working, which is running as i type this, perfectly (still shuts itself off/changes temperature on its own even after you set it to what you want to be, but whatever- at least we got heat- old system- came with the house- probably 30 years too- who knows?) and we were able to install a brand new oven/stove shortly after removing/dumping that old piece of junk we should have long disposed of. originally, we were supposed to have gotten an amana- however bestbuy messed up our order (which ticked my mom off) and we were told we wouldnt get it till jan.9 instead of dec. 21. aint happenin was what my mom thought. thankfully- and God sent an angel to bless us cause i dont know what wed be doing right now if we didnt have a working, let alone, any stove- a bestbuy rep called and said that we couldnt get the amana- however he had a whirlpool available for us and just deducted the cost we paid for the other towards the whirlpool. dec. 21 came and was rewarded with a new stove/oven..i have to admit- it took some getting use to- the buttons to push, setting the oven and turning on the burners was a challenge at first- but ive finally got the hang of it. overall, i like the oven- it does its job, cooks super fast (faster than our older one) and i like the fact that it notifies you of when the food is ready/digital timing- which is very helpful when cooking things that need precise timing like cookies, cakes and certain heat-and-serve dishes. however, i do have a few complaints: i wish whirlpool would have secured the burner top on instead of making it so easy to remove if you bump it accidentally- ive knocked it over several times while trying to clean the stove. 2: i would have appreciated it if they had started the temperature setting from low then high for the burners- not high then low- i find this strange, but anyway...
the whole point is this, though: the oven works and it cooks food perfectly. i recommend it if youre looking for replacement oven like we were or youre just in the market to remodel/add in an oven to your new home. great/beneficial investment id say.

Bakers beware. The oven is a lemon

The stove is great. It heats up quickly and gets really hot. I love that each of the burners has different flame widths and reaches different heat intensities. Stars for that. What’s really bad is the oven. In less than 2 years, I have had the oven fixed twice. I’m a baker. I use my oven about once a week which is not excessive. The oven shouldn't be breaking down this often. This is unacceptable. I know I won’t be buying a Whirlpool the next time.

CONS:
This range has sealed burners vs open burners. The sealed burners push the flame sideways. I typically cook with 10 inch skillets and 3qt sauce pans. The large and medium burners push the flame out to the edge of the pots and it takes forever to boil water or to get the pan very hot. To boil water in a 3qt sauce pan, I have to turn the flame down so it's hitting the bottom of the pot rather than beyond the edges of the pot. My old electric range boiled water faster than this one. Open burners point straight up and heat much more quickly/effectively.
There is no convect bake which is something I'm used to. All of my bake times are significantly longer.
PROS: Easy to clean, looks great, functions as designed.

We replaced our electric stove with this gas range for even cooking and easy startup. So far, we love it; we especially enjoy the super burner feather when we want to speed up the cooking time. The price was a bit high but I think it's worth it since the reduction on startup wait time.
I am having trouble registering the product via Whirlpool's website - the site continues to time out for no obvious reason. Other than that, the equipment so far works great and it compliments our new kitchen

The oven cooks foods great and heats up really fast. Love the different temperatures on the stove top eyes. The knobs make it hard to use the handle for dish towels, but we manage, not a big deal. Haven't used the self-cleaning option yet.

Good product, bad service

The great bestbuy people came with this gas range refused to install it for me, citing some company policy "your gas pipe is too loose", which later our handyman told me that they are just lying. Otherwise, the product works pretty decent, and in a very shape as I expected.

Bought the stove about 8 months ago. Shortly after we bought it we had intermittent issues with the stove igniter lighting/relighting during baking. Final got to the point where it was an issue every time we used oven. Called had it fixed. 2 months later were having the same issue. Stove top is great with 4 different heating settings and the oven bakes well when it works. Fingers crossed this repair lasts....

I have had this stove for less than a year and I need to call repair again it just turns off in the middle of cooking. The repair guy said that he replaced everything and I would be fine well it is doing it again. Do not buy this product.

Oven not working & less than 2 yrs old

The oven won't light anymore and the part that needs replaced is expensive. Between the part and the cost to repair, $369 total, I may as well buy a new range. I don't expect a range to be practically a disposable item, lasting less than two years. Very disappointing to say the least!!
