The most sophisticated and advanced health and fitness tracker out today. There are so many things to love about this Whoop 4.0! First, the fit and feel. I love how minimalistic it is with a super low-profile design, this helps it stay out of the way when working out or just living your life. I love how there are so many colors of bands and accessories to choose from to match any style. This health tracker is meant to be worn 24/7 and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it, it's so rugged. There are no screens or notifications that would be considered distracting, it just looks good while it continuously collects your body’s data. This tracker has helped me in many ways and is different from the others. For instance, Whoop doesn’t care about your step count, instead it is based on your body’s strain and how much stress was put on your body from movement, working out, or other strenuous activity. This is because you can take many steps throughout the day, but they might not be good steps meaning 1000 slow steps is different than 1000 running steps and a normal tracker will tell you that you made 1000 steps today regardless of the strain you put on your body with those steps. Whoop tracks how much strain your body has been through and tells you exactly how much sleep you need to get to fully recover from the day’s activities. This Whoop has helped me tons in the sleep department! It gives a suggestion on when to go to bed depending on what time my alarm is set for, and it differs by how much strain my body has gone through in the day. When I wake up, I love to look at my sleep stats in the Whoop app and it breaks down so much! How many times I was awake, light sleep, deep sleep, REM sleep, and how well overall was my sleep and how my body recovered as well as how much strain my body is ready for the next day. The sleep science and stats portion of the Whoop 4.0 is probably my favorite as I feel sleep is just as important as getting proper exercise. The real-time health monitor is also a part of the app I frequent the most, it shows current heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen levels, resting heart rate bpm, heart rate variability (HRV), and skin temperature. With a simple click on each, the app tells you all about what each of those mean so you get to know your body more and how you should take better care of yourself. There's even a health report you can share with your doctor right from the app. Another cool feature is the alarm you can set for waking up, the Whoop sensor will vibrate to wake you up if you desire, it is so nice and gentle, but it does the job and with a double tap on your Whoop sensor, the alarm shuts off. With a double tap on the sensor anytime of day, other than when the vibrating alarm is going off, there is an LED indicator light on the side that will give you a RAG status (Red, Amber, Green) of the battery level. Whoop supplies a neat little battery charger that is meant to slide on your sensor and be worn while charging so you never have to take off your band. I love that the charging cable it comes with is USB Type-C and that is used to charge the battery pack before sliding it over the sensor and band. There is an LED indicator on the battery pack as well to show how much charge the sensor has. The only downside is that the Whoop sensor needs to be charged every 3-4 days, which I feel like is constant, but you just slide the battery pack on and go about your day, it also kind of looks like a smaller version of a house arrest anklet that’s around your wrist when charging. Luckily it charges fast! Whoop offers many different accessories that are compatible with their sensors, for instance shorts, sport bras, arm bands, and many other types of workout gear that the sensor can slip into a little pocket and continue to monitor your body’s stats. This tracker really does it all, everything you would want to monitor for the betterment of your body from exercise, sleep, and general well-being, this has you covered, minus the step count, but Whoop clearly explains why steps don’t matter over strain. I love everything about this tracker, the app, the stats, the suggestions, everything. The only thing I find that would be off-putting is the monthly price for membership is a little steep, with that being said, this is the most sophisticated tracker you can buy, and it really does give great information and stats that can be life changing and help hit personal goals, as well as the awesome app that displays it all in an easily readable and comprehensible manner. Whoop keeps the minimalist features even when it comes to the contents of the box. What comes in the box is the Whoop senso, the band, a battery charger, and a little USB-C cable, along with a quick start guide. Overall, I am in love with this Whoop 4.0 and will be buying a few fun bands to match more outfits and grab more attention. I recommend this product for everyone, from top athletes to the person who just wants to get better sleep and maybe get moving a little more. This is by far the best health tracker I have ever used and the best app to go with it. Whoop nailed it with the Whoop 4.0 personalized fitness and health coach!

Packed With Data But Seems to Miss the Mark

With people wanting to be healthier, the health and fitness market keeps getting more entries into its space. The Whoop 4.0 is another fitness wearable in this arena. The Whoop 4.0 will certainly give you a lot of data to help you along the way. In training for a half marathon in January, I felt this would be a great device to help me get ready for that even. Unfortunately, I am not sure it helps as much as it tries. To start, the way the Whoop system is set up, you basically buy the first 12-month subscription and get the device thrown in. This means before you can even use the device, you must put in your credit or debit card information. When the 12 months are over and if you haven’t canceled, you will be charged either monthly or annually again. It can just become another expense that comes out of your account without you even thinking about it. It is just something to be aware of. The device itself took a little getting used to being worn. It is made to be worn about an inch above the wrist bone and snug enough that it won’t be loose. You need to get a good reading. I just found it to be tight and could get a little sweaty, especially on a hot day. I can’t say I never feel it on my wrist, but you can get to the point it doesn’t bother you as much. As for the device itself, there is no display for you to look at. If fact the only visual feedback you can get is by double tapping the device to see what kind of battery life you have left. If you want to see any of the data the system logs, you must use your smartphone which it is paired with. There is no GPS with the Whoop 4.0. There is no step counter. The system works in general by looking and getting information from other devices or by reading 5 key figures. The system looks at Respiration Rate, Blood-Oxygen Level, Resting Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability, and Skin Temperature. From there, the Whoop system uses a series of algorithms to compute various other factors such as sleep time, sleep recovery, and activity strain. To go along with the algorithms, there are daily journal questions that you must answer to go along with the black box math to come up with the magic data it spits out. There is a bigger than usual learning curve with the Whoop 4.0. You need to take time to understand what the data is, what it is telling you, and where it came from. Before you can even really get going with all the information, there is a calibration period with the device. You must go through 4 recovery periods. Basically, you must wear it all day and then sleep with it on to calculate a recovery. Once you are there, then you can see the data. The more you wear the device, the more it learns you and the more it can tell when there are variations to the norm. And the device does a great job of long-term trending. You can get graphs of data to print out or share with a health care professional. You can see if there are deviations which might suggest when you are getting sick. So, this part is nice. The data I not sure though is as useful as it could be. For each parameter that is logged, you get a “green”, “yellow”, or “red” rating. Green means that your readings are in a good zone. Red means that there is a problem. Sounds great in general, but the data isn’t always accurate. Respiratory Rate does a pretty good job of measure this. It just counts how many times a minute you breath. And it does it constantly throughout the day to give you an accurate reading. I really get frustrated though with Blood-Oxygen level. The “green” zone for this is anything about 90%. Mine is almost constantly at 95%. If you have had Covid-19, you probably are aware what Blood-Oxygen Level fluctuations mean and what zones are good. According to this device, 90% is still green. If I was truly at 90%, I would feel like I was at 15,000 feet without an oxygen mask. It is something to be aware of. Data may be relative to the device. It may call the reading the same thing. But it is not as accurate as other devices and should not be considered as completely accurate. As far as heart rates go, the Resting Heart Rate is accurate. The Heart Rate Variability seems to be a little off. I have found that the device does not necessarily do a good job of detecting intermittent exertions from activities such as lifting weights. It also is slow to react to overall changes in heart rate. There is a lag to the measurement. I am not sure if this is the algorithm just trying to keep outlier data from creping in. Since you do not tell the device that you are starting an activity, it really relies on changes in heart rate to determine activity strain during the day. The last parameter it measures is skin temperature. Again, this is not your body temperature. It is only the temperature reading from the skin. My normal body temperature runs lower than the 98.6 degrees we all think of. So, my body skin temperature will definitely be lower than that. So if I am below 96.7 degrees, this device says I am fine. Even with that said, I found skin temperature can vary greatly with these readings. I exercised on a hot day and got a sun burn. My skin temperature ran high that day. I went out and ran on a cold morning and my skin temperature was low. This didn’t reflect my overall body temperature, so I am not sure how to interpret what this data was really saying. The algorithms seem to get confused at times as well. For example, the sleep may not reflect the activity correctly. One night I fell asleep early and logged 2.5 hours of sleep. The device recorded it fine. But after being up for an hour, I fell back asleep for 4 hours. The device did not record the sleep. I could go back and edit it, but why do I want to do that? The device should catch this. The device recommends a set amount of sleep that you get each night. These numbers are many times unrealistic. It will tell me on a Tuesday night that I need over 9 hours of sleep. With work, helping kids with homework, walking dogs, and the rest of life, there is no way that is going to happen. I know I need more sleep. I don’t need the device telling me this. The device is interesting in that you can see a difference in sleep if you have had say caffeine before going to bed. I am not sure I need a device to tell me this though. It seems pretty obvious that it would have an effect. Also, there is an interesting stat that it says how many wake events you have during the night. I seem to average 1-2 per hour. Maybe that was always the case, but I do notice it more with the Whoop. Perhaps wearing a device to sleep causes me to wake more. It may be a case of Schrodinger’s Cat, but I can’t know without tracking my sleep without taking off the device. Also, the device uses sleep to calculate some type of mythical recovery number. One day it said I recovered 29%. That morning I ran 7 miles and couldn’t have felt better throughout the day. The point is many times I listen to my body to tell me how well I am recovered. Some days I get great sleep, but I cut the workout short because it doesn’t feel right. Other times I can get a little sleep, but the workout just feels right. As I stated, the device itself doesn’t track activities. It does a great job syncing up with many fitness apps to record running, weightlifting, swimming, or other activities. The Whoop won’t tell you how many miles you ran. It doesn’t care. It won’t give you a step count. It won’t give you lap times. It will tell you how many calories you burn. It will use all of this to calculate a strain rating for the day. Whether I run 3 miles or 8 miles, my day’s strain rating may be the same which doesn’t sound right. Then after running, I have a sweaty, fabric band on my arm that I can wear all day. In the end, I really wanted the Whoop 4.0 to do some kind of magic. I wanted some great insight which wasn’t there. Most of the data that is here I can get from some other wearable without having to pay a subscription. With no GPS I can not even see how many miles I went. I can’t track my mile times. I need another device to do that. Mixed with the lack of display for feedback and misleading data, I was left wanting more. I wanted the Whoop 4.0 to be that everything device, and it turned out to be so much less. There are people that will find this useful, I am sure. I could recommend it to them as long as they understood all of the negatives. There is some useful data. But for me, give me how many miles I ran, how fast did I go, and just listening to my own body and I will be happy. And I don’t have to worry about the monthly subscription.

Let me start by saying that if you are serious about your wellness and your progress would benefit from data driven insights, the Whoop 4.0 is a must have in your routine. The initial setup process is very easy and once you have the device paired you will start your initial calibration journey. This takes 3 days & nights but rest assured the things you’ll be able to learn about yourself are worth the wait! It is important to note that the Whoop is an always-on device; in order to get the most out of it, you’re going to need to wear it all the time including when you sleep. I found that commitment a little daunting at first but once you get used to wearing it you will pretty much forget it’s there. There’s also a bicep strap available for those who don’t want to see it on your wrist all the time. Once the first data starts coming through, you’ll learn a lot about how you are sleeping and where this factors into your recovery and strain for the next day. You’ll also start to see various tips about what you’re right or wrong, from bed and wake time variability to overdoing it in the gym one day and thinking you’re going to go perform the same the next day. Whoop’s app is super insightful and organizes into three key categories - strain, recovery, and sleep. Data is available mostly in real time, aside from some number crunching it does in the background after you wrap up a strenuous workout. Easy to use graphs help you see where you’re trending, and strain goals can be automatically set to vibrate your wrist when you’ve hit the ideal strain for a given activity. My favorite part so far are the weekly reports that come on Monday mornings. These are multiple pages of insights for you to learn from and (hopefully) plot out an even better week ahead. My one and only concern - which was enough to drop my rating w star, is the quality of the band hardware. It’s designed so you can easily change out the bands from the many options offered, but in doing so I find the pieces that hold the Whoop device in are not particularly sturdy. One side or the other is always popping out and I’m always afraid I’m going to break the pin. For a device that’s focused on promoting an active life, this feels like a miss. Bottom line - the Whoop is seriously the best by far in terms of giving you valuable information to understand your body and maximize your gains.

The in-depth knowledge that you receive from this device is mind-boggling. The app is so vast that you have to take one section at a time I started wearing the loop for the first week and noticed that my sleep was being tracked and I had a crazy sleep schedule which made it hard for me to wake up and it tells me how much sleep I need to get to be able to restore and have a good healthy next day so that was the first thing I started tracking. The next thing that I focused on was the strain and recovery rates being in tune with how your body needs to recover makes for a more productive day. It also gives you goals to set to help you reach and again be more active and healthy. The only thing I don't like is how it makes my wrist feel at some point I had a small rash where the bracelet sat so I took it off a few days to give it a rest but other than that this is a great addition to help you with all activities and health and function to recover and be more healthy. And the last thing is if you have a smart watch they are starting to have these same features. But not as in depth as whoop.

Okay so I had my doubts, but this thing is a life changer. Its so comfortable I forget I'm even wearing it. The charging method is ahead of its time being 100% wireless. I just charge the charger, unplug it and slide it over the band. It charges as you go and adds a slight bit of bulk for a time then you can slide it off and it's all done, doesn't take super long and you barely notice it. So you never have to take it off! Sleep tracking becomes so easy and it's waterproof and you can relocate it to your bicep if you buy a separate band. I love this thing. Having P.O.T.S this thing helps me track my heart rate, sleep and exercises. It's great. And I can still wear a watch on the other wrist and it doesn't look weird lol.

I learned a lot about my quality of sleep. It tracked my sleep, workouts and day-to-day activities with accuracy. I now know all about HRV and how important it is. The insights this device revealed about my life definitely helped me change bad habits like getting rid of alcohol close to bedtime! I feel like every person should at least try this band out for a year to better get to know their body. The band would shift on my wrist and at night I would have to loosen it so I can get full blood flow to my hand since the added pressure would cut off circulation to my hand. Battery life is decent. The battery attachment is neat!

I’ve been using the Whoop Band for a few months, and it’s been a game-changer. It’s not your typical fitness tracker; instead of focusing on steps, it tracks my recovery, sleep quality, and daily strain. The app gives super detailed insights, like heart rate variability and how well-rested I am, which helps me adjust workouts. It’s lightweight and comfortable to wear all the time, but it’s pricey with the monthly subscription. Also, no display or GPS, which some might miss. Still, if you’re serious about fitness and want to learn more about your body, it’s definitely worth it.

I really am liking my WHOOP and the data it provides me so far. My biggest hiccups have been that I work nights, so I have a flipped sleeping schedule and it has taken it a long time to adjust in order to properly capture my sleeps… though my poor sleeping habits definitely didn’t help it calibrate any faster. It actually made me improve my sleep habits to help it calibrate lol. I wish the accessories didn’t cost so much, I ended up buying a 3rd party bicep band bc $50 for a strap is ridiculous. I enjoy wearing it more on my arm, though I have also had more problems w the device flipping/coming off body in my sleep this way, which is annoying. Overall, the data has been pretty invaluable and has allowed me to kind of “gameify” my health in a really productive way. I like to see bigger scores in my sleep and strain so it pushes me to set proper time aside to sleep and work harder in the gym. I just wish the sensors were better with sleeping, and that I could find a more comfortable way to wear this to bed while ensuring it won’t flip. (I can tighten it to ensure this but then I wake up with a massive imprint that’s kind of tender and that doesn’t seem ideal) I can deal with it though, it’s more of a slight inconvenience if I miss a day of sleep and recovery score than a deal breaker.

Great “watch” for tracking alot of activities

So far, the “watch” is great. Tracks my sleep and my daily activities which is swimming, to playing tennis, and running. The app does a great job at reminding you on certain challenges and goals. As a slim, low profile “watch”, it is fantastic. I do believe that the price is a little too much for what is really is. You could get an apple watch or samsung watch that can do roughly the same on the activity side, and have a display for a little more or even a little less. There’s also a subscription service with this “watch” that is either $30 a month or $200 and some annually. They do give you a whole year for free, but they still want you to register. I’ve only had this watch for a little over a week. They do have updates coming out for it later on. The only reason I quote watch is because there’s no display which is a little bit of a downer, but like I said, it is a nice, low profile watch. If you are looking for an accurate activity tracker, this is it

A simple to use app with plenty of in depth features and an abundance of health trackers that are easy to read and understand. High level water resistance, very comfortable bands, and an impressive selection of band colors, styles and patterns to choose from allows you to easily wear it all day everyday, especially with the very convenient charging style that they've come up with that allows you to keep going nonstop. Only thing I wish they would add would be a clock, even a tiny barebone simplistic digital one would be so highly useful in my opinion but hey that could just be because I've been a lifelong watch wearer. With that being said I still highly recommended this device to others

Overall, the Whoop band does what it's supposed to. I liked the metrics it provided, and it definitely motivated me to make better choices, like going to bed earlier and hitting my exercise goals. Unfortunately, it lacks a screen, which most health trackers have, and in the end, I switched back to another device. I originally thought having no screen would be a plus, but I realized I actually wanted one.The Whoop comes with an annual subscription to their service, which is nice, but it's pretty expensive. It almost feels like it would be cheaper to buy a new Whoop every year for the free subscription rather than renewing. It’s a good device, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

Been using Whoop for just under 2 years and still love it. Has many uses as far as tracking quality of Activities, Recovery, and Sleep… but the game changer is the insight it provides Weekly/Monthly through the App that allow you to focus on improving your own health based on personal goals. The App provides a customizable questionaire that you answer daily to help you understand what activities may be helping or hurting whatever Metrics you are focused on improving and moreso, compiles and delivers the results to the user in an elegant and digestable format. The Whoop device itself is simple and doesnt create distractions, but the info it gathers is deeper than any other fitness device ive owned… and ive owned ALL of them. For some users it may be too much, however, and can create and little bit of analysis paralysis. For me, ive been able to focus on different goals, depending where im at in life, and i have improved significantlyin those repective areas with use of this device.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Whoop since 2.0. It is small, light, and comfortable to wear. I don’t like wearing two wrist items, so I tend to wear Whoop and only put on a watch when exercising. I think Whoop shines for someone with an inconsistent sleep schedule that wants to get more insights on improving sleep. I also believe it is a $300 product for a minimum 3 year app subscription included. The current price point is ludicrous.

Whoop isn’t your average fitness tracker—it’s built for high-performers who don’t play around. With no screen and no gimmicks, it focuses purely on what matters: recovery, strain, and sleep. It tracks your body’s every move, even while you rest, giving data that feels like it’s straight from a sports lab. The monthly subscription might feel like a commitment, but what you get in return is raw, actionable insight. It’s not here to motivate you—it’s here to monitor your grind like a boss. Not for the soft ones looking for step counts or pretty watch faces. This is for the ones who train with purpose and recover with intent. For those building legacies, Whoop isn’t a wearable—it’s a weapon.
