This is one of the oldest franchises in the PlayStation lineage, but it holds up strongly in this newest rendition. I can't think of a faster, more brutal racing game, but it also provides for endless fun. Stylistically, it is in a league of its own filled with incredible visuals and awesome soundtrack.

With 3 remasters in the package, Wipeout Omega Collection is an amazing value.
While 2 of the 3 are from last-gen PS3, Wipeout HD & Wipeout Fury, the final entry is from the handheld series, Wipeout 2049. 2049 shows off the largest difference, thanks to the bigger difference in format, all 3 have had a ton of love involved.
Everything has been upgraded; this is NOT a nostalgia cash-in for those of us who grew up with the Wipeout series from its earliest days on PSX. Beyond the visuals, the game(s) runs at 60fps, and the controls, always smooth, are even moreso now.
If you've never played Wipeout, you're in for a real treat. Atop including 3 games, with numerous tracks per game, each includes a plethora of vehicles to start, along with even more to unlock. Littered around the tracks are a variety of power ups to help you or hinder opponents, along with many boost pads that keep the pace at one of the fastest (still) in any racing series. Pulling off barrel rolls (always risky, as tracks that feature jumps aren't always very high jumps- timing is crucial,) will also grant your floating rocket a quick burst of speed.
But all this speed comes at a price. Vehicles all have shields; and attempting to use walls to bounce back from a loss of control will deduct from them. Opponents firing at you will also cause damage- lose your shields and your ship, you'll have to rerun the race.
Picking a favorite company to race for does not stick you with their vehicles, but that said, your best bet is to find a sponsor early that has a vehicle you can handle well. As you play, you'll earn loyalty points by the sponsor which, in turn, helps you unlock more vehicles from them. Constantly switching sponsors will delay getting into newer vehicles, but you're never "locked in". If a particular track gives you trouble, never hesitate to swap out, as each company seems to have a "set path" of expertise- (some may have health & shield as priorities, others as speed & handling, yet others may focus only in one area that gives a much higher bonus to just one category). If one track is giving you a hard time with turns that's costing you precious health due to many sharp winding turns, don't stop yourself from temporarily switching to a better handling/ shield combo.
There's a small learning curve: it's easy to pickup and play, and if you choose to just enjoy the game, you will. Vehicles are less "weighty," constantly bobbing (both due to the anti-grav nature of the game,) and tracks quickly progress from easing you in to the game to challenging your reflexes. If you choose to play Wipeout as fun, no worries- easy mode, and normal, later, remains more of a fun challenge. Yet the game allows for true mastery; watching those who devote efforts into it can produce dizzying runs of speed that's more akin to a well-choreographed speed ballet.
Just like the originals, split-screen is supported, as well as online racing. No skimping in that area, including a "race box" that allows you to host multiplayer online events with varying tracks and presets.
Wipeout is, without a doubt, one of the best racing series that ever hit Sony, if not in all of gaming. The slow dismissal of the series (Wipeout HD & Fury were never released physically, and hit early in PS3s lifespan,) was met with dismay by longtime fans; not due to nostalgia's sake where replaying it reminded you why it became outdated, but because it was easy to pickup, a challenge, fun even when runs went wrong, and breathtaking to behold when you had a perfect run.
Two final things:
They've included a fun photo mode that's becoming more and more standard now, but is still much appreciated, and lastly, if you're looking for a couch co-op game that's not something that requires tons of planning/ getting "stuck" playing longer than you intended, Wipeout is PERFECT. It's an incredible game to sit down with friends, some pizza, and some drinks while being able to end the game once your session begins to die down.
3 games, low price, high value, and not a cash-in on memories. Whether single player or multiplayer, Wipeout Omega Collection is yet ANOTHER win in the Sony exclusives.

This game is pretty good. It has a great sense of speed, the vehicles are fun to control, and there's a good deal of content for the price. I haven't played the original versions of the games in the collection, so I can't speak to their accuracy or completeness, but from what I played they were enjoyable. The only really annoying thing is there's no in-game tutorial (besides loading screen hints) and no manual included with the game and the link for the manual with the game gives a 404, but it's fairly easy to do a bit of Googling and find the manual. Overall I'd say this is a good game and if you're looking for fast-paced racing this is as good as any.

Wipeout has a long history on Playstation and it’s finally arrived on the Playstation 4. Fans of the series would’ve preferred a new entry in the series, but this package should not be looked over. It promises what the trailer says, pumping out dynamic 4K at 60 FPS. A true showpiece on the PS4 Pro. The graphics are gorgeous and the music is pure techno/electronica feast. You get 3 games on the disc, all remastered to take advantage on the PS4/PS4 Pro and you won’t be disappointed with what you’re playing.

Holy smokes, the graphics have improved and its sooo much faster, with couch mode thrown in to boot. This game is fantastic although it will take a little patience (I tell this to anyone who has never played WipeOut) for the uninitiated to the Anti-Gravity Racing League but please have patience, it's worth it. The techno music is really good too (although not as good as the original WipeOut music. Hopefully they'll add the ability to download your own music in a future update so I can load the music from my original 1995 copy of WipeOut).

Fast, smooth, and a great soundtrack. I've tried many Wipeout games since the first one and they all just didn't feel right until now. This game plays as smooth as butter and the ships feel much nicer to control than previous versions of the game. The soundtrack is great and the graphics look really nice. If you're a fan of Wipeout or have been curious what all the fuss is about, then this game is for you.

I've played this series since the beginning and when this remastered version that includes 3 previous releases came out, I passed on buying it because, well, been there done that. But when it was announced they did a FREE PSVR update patch, I finally bought it and I gotta say, this game is now one of the best offerings for VR yet! You can sit inside the cockpit and feel the rush of speed as you race and it all looks really good. There's also options to go 3rd person but what's the point. This series has always been so fun but now, in VR it's better than ever. If you have a PSVR headset and you like super fast racing, get it! Highly recommended!

I liked this game a lot more that I was expecting too.I haven't tried playing this series since it came out on the original playstation\saturn and I didn't like that game much. This game had great graphics, fast game-play, a good VR mode, and was fun. I would recommend checking out this game, even if racer aren't your thing as it controls and plays more like an arcade racer.

This is a remake in HD of Three PS3 and PSP titles for the PS4. The controls are great. The soundtrack is from are games and really great to listen to alone. Graphics are great. Again the price is right for three awesome tiles in one disc here.

The WipEout Omega Collection combines the PS3 game HD, with it's DLC expansion Fury (both already serving as console quality versions of the PSP games Pure and Pulse) with the Vita game 2048. This is the first time 2048 has been ported to a home console, with a smooth 60fps frame rate that blows away the original release, and higher quality models and textures. The whole package is presented in 1080p 60fps, with none of the screen tearing that was present in the original PS3 release, and with higher clarity even without taking into account the stunning 4K presentation on the PS4 Pro. The game is challenging, and can be unforgiving, but is incredibly satisfying to play and conquer. There are three meaty campaigns on offer, as well as a full online component. At $40 this package is absolutely a steal.

WipEout Omega Collection is a complete Playstation 4 remastering of three great games from PS3 and Vita (WipEout HD, Fury, and 2048). The games are fast, fun, and beautiful. The arcade handling of the assorted vehicles is finely tuned--easy to pick up, harder to master. The visual upgrade is extensive--better textures, geometry, and lighting. The sound design is great with a fitting thumping techno soundtrack. It's a perfect game to play in short bursts OR in marathon sessions. (NOTE FOR PS4 PRO USERS: all three games play in true 4K 60fps when motion blur is turned off)
I love futuristic racing games, and WipEout is one of my favorites (only behind Nintendo's long-dormant F-Zero franchise). Highly recommended.

its the only game that wanders from the headset. after 10mins I have to stand almost 90 degrees from the camera. Holding the start button dosent even recalibrate it. I have to quit the game and reload it. I have 12 games and this is the only one that does it. Im 50yrs old and Ive played wipeout when it first appeared. This game is frustrating. Even if I make no mistakes and boost when i get air, I still cant win some of the races in order to unlock the next race. Graphics are awesome and controls are very on target. No motion sickness that ive felt. More immersive than battlezone if you own that game.

I'm an F-Zero fan, but no doubt this WipeOut Collection is truly great. Until Nintendo decides to revive F-Zero, this is the best futuristic racer this generation can offer. Also, looks incredible on PS4 Pro at 4K.

Having owned Wipeout HAD/Fury back on the day on my PS3, I knew exactly what I was getting gameplay wise from the Omega collection. The sense of speed is truly something to behold, and the game holds up all these years later. The main reason I got this collection though was to get some eye candy for my PS4 Pro and 4k tv, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. Native 4k, 60fps, the whole nine yards. For anyone looking to stretch out the Pro, look no further.

This collection of Wipeout HD (including its Wipeout HD Fury expansion) and Wipeout 2048 (originally a PS VITA release) does not disappoint. If you missed out on those games in the past, this is a great collection to get you caught up to speed on the fast paced arcade racing goodness of the Wipeout series. This release boasts smooth controls and wonderful upgraded PS4 graphics. Don't miss out on this one if you are a fan of arcade racers.
