This is the Beatles' second album as released in Britain, the bulk of which was included on their first album, Meet the Beatles, in the US. It's packed with terrific rock 'n roll; from Chuck Berry's Roll Over Beethoven to Smokey Robinson's Your Really Got A Hold On Me to Barret Strong's Money. Any one of these covers would make this lp worth picking up. Add to that the 8 great original songs and it's a must-have album. My only beef is that the stereo separation (Abbey Road studios where it was recorded was using two-track tape in those days) is very primitive. The instrumental backing tended to be placed all the way over on the left channel and the vocals all the way over on the right. This explains why the CD of this lp was issued only in mono. Having said that, the stereo mix, primitive as it is, has the advantage of allowing a listener to isolate the musicianship more easily. Many guitarists learned to play early Beatles' songs by reducing the volume to the right channel to better hear the guitar parts. So I listen to both mono and stereo mixes. And if you're going to listen to this lp in stereo, it might as well be on this remastered 180g vinyl. This music was originally engineered for vinyl and that is still the best format in which to listen to it.

Another in the series of classic Beatles albums reissued on audiophile quality vinyl. With a good quality phono cartridge on a high-end turntable, the sound is incredible. Highly recommended.

Fantastic sound! I’ve purchased (0ver the last 60 years) everything The Beatles have released! From the original mono albums, 8 tracks, cassettes, cd’s till this! There is nothing better than an album with its artwork and original back cover notes! Opening and playing this record brings me back to a special time! If u are young and first vinyl Beatles, u are in for a treat!
