Customers are satisfied with the video quality, ease of installation, and night vision capabilities of the Video Doorbell Wired. Many also appreciate its ease of use and compact size. However, some users experienced challenges with the QR code during setup, and others noted concerns about the device's reliance on a wired power connection. The included chime was generally well-received.

Maybe my doorbell is just too sensitive...

I generally trust Wyze products and find that they are sensitive and useful. I’m struggling to get this doorbell to be maximally effective. I am not sure if the problems I’m having are something about our particular setup; the angle of the doorbell; the contrast in light and dark that is in the camera view; or something else. In a nutshell: this unit is easy to install and it’s relatively easy to setup the app and get the chime and doorbell synced up. It works right away, and it does also turn on a light when it detects motion. While it seems to do a great job catching us going in and out of the house, it also seemed to miss visits to the porch at first. I’ve turned the sensitivity on the camera way up, and now it seems to catch most people movements. But it also gives a lot of false positives because wind moves the arborvitae around in front of the porch. I’m a little frustrated that we had three deliveries from different carriers at different times while first running the device at lower sensitivity, and none of them were picked up by the camera. Now, I seem to get a million alerts because of wind.
Installation: If you can follow directions and aren’t afraid of wires. The wiring isn’t complicated, but you do have to hook it up to your existing wired doorbell setup. If you don’t have wired doorbell already, you can’t use this device. You will no longer use the chime that works with your existing doorbell. This package comes with an additional little speaker unit that you plug into an outlet, and it makes the doorbell sound. You can also choose the chime, with a number of options that sound like—well, sort of like ringtones—traditional doorbell sounds, and even barking dogs. Some of these seems to annoy my actual barking dogs much less than the regular doorbell. But they start barking generally when someone is on the porch, regardless of whether the doorbell has chimed. (They aren’t very good at video work, though, so I still wanted a video doorbell.) The chimes, I have to say, seem sort of hidden in the app, and it took a google to figure out how to set it up (though admittedly I didn’t watch the Wyze installation videos all the way through, so hopefully that info is in there). You can set volume too, which is nice.
Operation: The ai does do a good job, usually, of knowing the difference between a person in view and just motion. It seems a bit uncertain about vehicles. It seems to think my dogs are vehicles, or that anything moving by could be a vehicle. Or my neighbor’s car, in their driveway, is a vehicle I need to know is sitting there…in their drive way. This means there are a lot of “events” that aren’t important. So, this is a little sticky at the moment in terms of how useful the doorbell is vs. how annoying it is. I am hopeful that if I use the detection field settings (you can limit where the camera looks for motion—that might help it cut out some of the unneeded alerts). I think really it’s a matter of finding a sweet spot with the sensitivity setting and the detection settings to get what I want without a bunch of artifacts.
I think it’s a good thing to have, and I really like that WYZE does not require you to have a subscription. That said, the CAM PLUS is pretty cheap—so I may use it for a year and see how it goes. I wouldn’t bother with that, probably, for other cameras, but for the outside front door, it seems potentially a nice feature for $14/year. Good value for the price on the basic unit, too.

SUMMARY:
Video Doorbell systems come in many configurations these days. System features vary, so it’s important to find the video doorbell that best suits your situation and needs. The stand-out feature FOR ME in the Wyze WVDB1WC1 Video Doorbell is the fact that the outside part of the system is WIRED to utilize the continuous ~20-volt dc power that is available next to your front door if you are upgrading from traditional push-button chime or buzzer. Depending on your climate, extreme heat or cold can adversely affect the lifespan of replaceable batteries installed on the outside wall unit. Taking power from the house electrical system means that failure due to exhausted batteries will not shut the video doorbell system down. This system will automatically recover from a utility power failure when the power comes back on. In my particular case I’m using the wired Wyze Video Doorbell as part of a security system on a secondary residence that could be vacant for an extended period of time, so a replaceable battery might fail unexpectedly. Being tied to a more-or-less unlimited power source, allowed Wyze to design a very compact unit with a lot of feature power available. Of course, there are other features to also consider when selecting a video doorbell system.
FEATURES:
• Small compact outside unit (H-3.25”, W-1.5”, D-.5”) with bright illumination for nighttime detection and identification.
• Inside Chime unit offers variable volume and many different alert sounds through App.
• Night vision camera with IR illumination.
• Selectable video definition from 480p to 1080p+ for different bandwidth situations.
• Outside unit has IP65 weather rating to resist rain, snow and ice. -4°F to 122°F rated.
• Push notification to multiple phones with two-way communication.
• The night-vision capability of the camera & IR LEDs give good longer distance detection.
• The daylight vision capability of the camera & strong white light LEDS give sharp facial recognition at night.
• The optional subscription service offers online AI that can be changed to alert-to or ignore things like human faces, cars passing by, pets and packages showing up on porch. Other detection reactions are also available.
• Digital Video-Zoom from App.
PROS:
• Compact size
• The 120° vertical and 80° camera view gives a good head-to-toe picture of the visitor and gives a good view of the floor to see delivered packages.
CONS:
• The Wi-Fi receiver in the outside unit needs a relatively strong Wi-Fi signal at the outside button for the system to work properly. To test the strength of the Wi-Fi signal Wyze recommends holding a cell phone at the location of the outside doorbell button next to the door. To get good results the phone should show a Wi-Fi signal (NOT Cell signal) of at least 3 bars. I could not get my Wyze outside button unit to hold the signal reliably, until I moved my cell provider’s modem in the house closer to the front door. This may not be possible for some homes, so I recommend you test your front door’s Wi-Fi signal strength before purchasing this otherwise great system.
CONCLUSION:
A good choice for homes with a relatively strong Wi-Fi signal at the outside door area.

small but useful doorbell

The Wyze wired video doorbell is probably one of the simplest devices I have set up before. Its quick setup, functionality, and ease of use make this a great doorbell device to give your home.
One thing you first notice is how small it is. With just a pushbutton and a small camera, mic and speaker, it is only a few inches tall. Setup is about the toughest part of the whole thing, because it does have to be wired to existing doorbell power wiring to work. Which I would recommend getting professional help if you are not comfortable shutting off the power to area's of your home or handling electrical wiring. It is essentially figuring out if you need the horizontal wedge mount, attaching that if you need it, connecting 2 wires, and fast securing onto the wedge plate. Outside installation done.
Inside, the doorbell come with it's own chime receiver box, which I love because other doorbells I have used, want to just chime through the app and only the person with the app can hear the doorbell ring. This rings in the house so everyone can hear it.
Downloading the Wyze app, setting up the device in the app is super easy and fast. You can access the video feed from whenever you want, but there is a wyze subscription package needed to store video and access some features. The video quality and range is pretty good for a doorbell camera of this size, and definitely worth it to add that extra safety to your home security. The two way audio works well, but is a bit delayed over the network.
Overall, I would recommend getting this just for the ease of use and setup, and that it includes its own chime box and not just a chime from the app on your phone.

The Wyze Video Doorbell (wired) is a welcomed addition to our smart home. Comparing it to other video doorbells we have (or have had), this is definitely one of the better devices. I am continually impressed with the quality of Wyze products and this one doesn't disappoint!
The doorbell installation itself is pretty straightforward and uses the existing wiring for a regular wired doorbell. I had a little bit of difficult getting the doorbell to ring the actual indoor "box" with the traditional doorbell - but I think that has more to do with the age of my home and the condition of the interior unit.
Once installed, the doorbell does exactly what it is supposed to ... just with a bit of a twist. I struggled a little bit with detection zones and was getting notifications constantly when anything - including leaves, squirrels, etc., were caught in the view. Some relatively straightforward tweaking within the app helped with that issue.
One big benefit of this device, especially in comparison to other competitors, is the price point. It's a budget-friendly device with a lot of value packed in.
Pros:
- Easy installation
- Bright lighting for nighttime views
- Integrates with other Wyze devices via the app seamlessly
- Video and audio quality are both high
I don't really have any cons with this video doorbell other than the tricky setup for detection zones - and I think that has to do with the positioning I had to use for the existing wiring and space.

My initial experience wasn't great and I was certain I had a defective unit. Shortly after install, I noticed that the video was extremely choppy and whenever I tried to answer remotely, the unit would freeze and restart. Being that this was a wired doorbell I tested the voltages and found that my transformer met the absolute minimum requirements. A quick trip to the hardware store and a new doorbell transformer, completely resolved all of my initial issues. The video stream is crisp, audio is clear, and best of all no random freezing or restarts.
Other than my initial issues the doorbell has been performing great. My only real gripe with this doorbell is the minimal integration with Google Assistant. I would happily give 5 stars if I could respond to events from my smart display. This doorbell does "work" with Google, but note you will only be able to live stream, nothing else.
One very positive aspect of this doorbell is the color night vision works extremely well and with surprising clarity.
One last thing to note is if you experience notification delays, tweak your notification settings on your phone. Once I dialed them in, notifications have been instant. Also, if your not familiar with the Wyze subscription model, you will need to purchase a separate, fairly inexpensive, subscription for each connected device.

Ive used Wyze for three years and have several of their cameras and smart home devices installed. Like all of the restbifbthe products that I've used, this was easy to install. Just two wires and a wedge and I was good to go.
Connecting to the Wyze app was ready as well. The app found the doorbell without any problems and walked me through the set up process step by step and I was able to view the video on my phone, connect to Alexa, and view rhe live video feed on my smart TV.
Video quality is excellent for daytime, but less so at night. Unless someone is right in front of the camera, the facial features are blown out and unrecognizable. I can tell someone is there, and I can recognize them if its someone I know, but I dont think the video would be clear enough to identify someone.
You can get basic video capabilities out of the box with short video clips, but for a full length recording, smart detection for pets, packages, and vehicles, and a 14 day video backup, you have to upgrade to Cam Plus.
For the price, this is a decent option if you're looking to keep an eye on packages, but be aware that night vision could be better.

The Wyze Video Doorbell (wired) was very easy to install (maybe 10 minutes from start to finish). All items needed were nicely packaged as well as having the extra screws (in case one is dropped). Maneuvering through the phone app is a bit cumbersome, but once you know where everything is located, making changes to alerts, doorbell chimes, etc are simple. Due to living in a block construction home, after installation I did have issues with staying connected to Wi-Fi for live screaming as well as communication with people at the door (sounds were extremely choppy and the live stream was constantly freezing up). To resolve this issue, I did need to move my wireless access point within 6 feet of the front door (this may be an issue for some people who have firm locations for access points or a weaker WiFi signal in that area of the house). All in all, the installation is very cut and dry, the mounting brackets are easy to assemble and install and mounting the doorbell is a breeze. The hardest part of the installation process will be finding the correct breaker for the doorbell if it is not noted on your breaker panel.

WYZE Video Doorbell

So after a warehouse mix-up, I finally received my WYZE Video Doorbell. I have always admired the WYZE home camera products and was anxiously awaiting it to arrive.
Upon unboxing the package, you'll find inside:
* Wyze Video Doorbell
* Chime Box
* Horizontal Wedge
* Mounting Screws & Instructions
To begin, you must first figure out which line your doorbell runs off of at your breaker box. Nine times out 10, it's probably not labeled on the breaker box, however, it's very important that you find the correct line to ensure you don't electrocute or at the very least shock yourself. After trial and error (and running back and forth downstairs to my garage/basement), I found the correct line my doorbell was connected too. Once I figured that out, I was able to remove the cover to the indoor chime box of original doorbell and disconnected the wires to bypass the chime box inside. After completing that step, I begin disconnecting my old doorbell outside my front door (which honestly needed to be changed due to the sun dry-rotting it out). Next, I began installing the horizontal wedge in place of the old doorbell and connecting the wires to the back of the video doorbell. However, I hit a snag and had to unscrew and move the wedge to the left about a half inch due to installing it too closely to my door frame.
After getting it installed, simply plug the chime into a outlet inside your house and connect the Wyze Video Doorbell to your Wyze account if you already have one. If not, just download the app from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android.
Getting the camera to sync was kinda a pain though not a deal breaker because once you get it setup partially in the app, you're given and QR Code that you then have to use the camera to scan the QR Code before you can move on the the next step. I wish there was a better way to sync them up because this took me about 10 minutes or so. I started to get a little frustrated but I kept at it. Finally after getting it synced up, I was able to finish setting it up through the app and checked from firmware updates. Overall it took me a little longer installing the Video Doorbell but part of that was because I've never attempted anything like this before, so I took my time, and also trying to figure out what line it was connected to at the breaker box, and lastly trying to get it synced up.
After getting everything squared away, I was thoroughly impressed with the ease of the app in setting the camera to your liking as well as the included chimes that you can setup on the camera. Features that I love is the 2-way audio, night vision, the overall picture quality, the continuous live streaming, and the detection zone. It's amazing the things you can do and how many features are packed into such a small doorbell size. Just another way to secure your house and know who's at your door before opening it.

It exceeded my expectations!

This video doorbell actually exceeded my expectations. The doorbell, chime and accessories come in a small box that is easy to unpack and comes with everything you need for installation. You need to download the Wyze app to configure the doorbell and the app also shows you step by step how to install the device and what tools to use. Although it is a wired doorbell, the installation is easy.
When a person rings the doorbell the app sends a notification to inform that someone is at the door and gives the option to activate a kind of call where the person can communicate through the doorbell microphone and you answer from your cell phone, it seems to me something very practical and useful, it's like having a portable intercom. Likewise the small chime is configured through the app volume and tone you want for when someone knocks on the door. The app notifies you if the doorbell camera detects movement, turns on a light and records the event so you can later play it back on your cell phone. The camera has a very good image quality and an outstanding night mode, the quality of the speaker and microphone is ok but they fulfill their mission.
Something important to mention is that some of the functions of the doorbell are available only with subscription but this subscription is very cheap so it is worth it.
In summary, this video doorbell can save you time and increase the security in your home. It exceeds expectations and its performance is very good, it seems to me a very useful piece of technology for home and according to the times we live in.
If you want to give a technological touch to something as simple as a doorbell, this is one of the best and most economical options, I definitely recommend it.

Installation of the Wyze Doorbell Cam is extremely simple. I was surprised how small the package was which includes the doorbell itself, mounting hardware, angled mounting plate and chime. However, the unit being so compact there is NO space behind the unit. Most of the doorbells I have ever taken apart have NO space in the wall to push the wires back into. So the wiring that most video doorbells provide you with have no where to be tucked into unless you use a spacer or in this case the angled spacer. Though I did not plan to use the spacer it ended up working in favor of where it was being placed. There is a white pillar which would cause a considerable amount of IR splashback under night vision if the camera was installed straight forward. With the angled spacer it moves the pillar out of frame and it provides enough space to tuck the excess wires away.
It is unfortunate that the Wyze system does not allow for the existing door chime to be utilized in conjunction with the included electronic chime NOR can you pair additional chimes for other floors in the home. The argument can be made that if the phone is on you then you would be notified, but if you use Do Not Disturb mode or regularly leave the phone on Silent, then you don't get the notifications. The chime was placed centrally in the home, but can barely be heard in the basement. There is a decent selection of chimes/tones available, but it is electronic, seems like being able to use custom chimes should be a given. But then again, I have not seen any smart doorbell that allows this.
Hardware installation took no more than 20 mins. Software setup was even quicker. I was up and running in under 30mins. Though I have now installed more than 5 various models of video doorbells and they keep getting easier. I have noticed that there is a delay between a visitor actually ringing the bell and connecting to the camera which is a little disappointing. And conversing with someone at the door takes time due to this delay. However, I wanted the video doorbell to be able to monitor what was happening at my front door through the day and keep an eye on my packages or any wouldbe porch pirates trying to pillage my goodies. Clarity in both day and night have been what I have come to expect from Wyze. In that regard it works for me. Although I would have liked to see the ability to use a MicroSD card like the other Wyze Cams to review footage without cloud.
Considering price, ease of installation and use I'd say this product is a great basic video doorbell and have already recommended to several neighbors who want something simple without having to subscribe to yet another service.

Yes, this type of product has many competitors, but know what you are getting for the price point when you buy this. This isn't some giant big fancy video doorbell with a ton of features. It's a doorbell, with video capabilities, and a strange (in my opinion) aspect ratio. Not sure if that was done to save money or they thought it was a good idea.
Simply put, for the price, this is pretty amazing. You get a nice replacement for your original likely old doorbell, and you're modernizing it for the cheap. To be honest, barely anyone rings our doorbell to begin with. When they do, it's just a delivery driver or a solicitor typically, who will leave a note or your package there anyway. Just like any device, if it disconnects, not a big deal. As long as it works for the most part.
Aesthetically it actually looks nice and fits alongside your other Wyze products if you have them. It's great to have an ecosystem of the same products so that if you pay for monitoring services, you save on your monthly/yearly plan. Video quality is great actually. The 3:4 aspect ratio is really unpleasing to me, but that's just by design and isn't a fault since it works.
There really isn't anything wrong with this product and what you get for the price that this costs.

Wired video doorbell with chime

Video doorbells are very common and popular, so I decided to get one. Wyze video doorbells tend to be cheaper than some of their competitors, from my research.
Wyze makes video doorbells that are either wired or wireless, this particular one is wired and needs to be wired to an existing doorbell setup. That is what will provide the power for the doorbell. Just take off the previous doorbell, attach the two wires to the Wyze doorbell and then mount the Wyze doorbell in its place. If the existing wires aren't long enough, Wyze includes some wire extensions and wire nuts.
If the view you get from the video doorbell isn't exactly the angle you want, they include a wedge mounting adapter so you can try to get a better view. A chime was included with my video doorbell, you can get it without a chime if you prefer. The chime plugs into an electric outlet inside the house and connects to the doorbell wirelessly.
Using the Wyze app, you can set up the doorbell and connect it to your wireless network. Once you do that, the app will alert you when there is motion on the doorbell camera. If you have a chime installed people at the door can push the button to activate the chime. You can also talk to anyone that is at the door and hear them as well.
For those that want to set up their wired doorbell somewhere where there isn't an existing doorbell, there are companies who make aftermarket power adapters compatible with video doorbells that plug into a standard indoor or outdoor plug.
Video quality is good during daylight and at night and the sound quality is decent.

Simple cam doorbell
Easy install only if you have existing video or camera doorbell wires.
It’s simple to follow the direction to replace existing video doorbell.
A few extra steps are needed if you have the old school doorbell or non at all but well worth the effort because it’s a 100% upgrade.
I do suggest that you view a couple of YouTube videos before install or have an electrician so the work.
That’s just my two cents on that.
And the mounting options aren’t the best but hopefully you don’t need anything too complex.
It’s definitely a smaller footprint that the previous design so that’s consider a win if you are into looks for doorbells. It looks good.
Scanning the WR code for network install was easy as well. My router is really close though. So I didn’t have any issues connecting.
Reaction time from doorbell push to video and app sight is pretty spot on.
Night vision is good.
If you are looking for a good intro doorbell this is a good option. Definitely worth checking WYzE products out.

Good value doorbell camera

This doorbell camera from Wyze is cost-effective and offers all the features you'd expect. It's a great starting point: the up-front cost is low, basic service (including event detection and basic cloud storage) does not require a subscription fee, and the premium service tiers are reasonably priced. The installation is pretty easy, and requires no irreversible changes to be made to your existing wiring or doorbell chime box. Altogether, these things made me comfortable with choosing this Wyze camera, and so far I'm pleased with how well it works.
This doorbell camera is designed to replace a traditional wired doorbell, using the same low-voltage AC (16-24 VAC) transformer for power that most existing wired doorbells use. As long as your existing doorbell is such a set-up, you shouldn't have any major issues getting it installed. Compared to a wireless (battery-powered) doorbell camera, this means just a few extra steps on the physical installation to wire it up. I like not needing to worry about replacing batteries, though.
Although there is hardly any installation documentation to speak of in the box, the installation videos available on Wyze's Web site were clear and easy to follow. I did not run into any major issues during installation. However, I will say that there is very little room for excess wire behind the doorbell camera. Although wire nuts and extensions with fork terminals are included, I did not even use them given the lack of depth behind it when mounted. The wedge mounting bracket (intended to use when your doorbell is in a corner) does add some space, but not everyone (like me) will use that. I hesitate to suggest Wyze should make the "flat" mounting place thicker, but perhaps a different terminal design could make it fit better.
The Wyze video doorbell will not trigger your existing chime. You basically end up bypassing it to complete the power circuit to supply the camera with power. Instead, the doorbell connects wirelessly (with a dedicated radio rather than over Wi-Fi) to a plug-in electronic chime. The chime was included. (From what I've seen, some other lower-cost doorbell cameras require the chime to be purchases separately.)
Once physically installed, the Wyze app made the rest of the set-up a breeze. It's been perfectly reliable so far. Viewing both live and recorded video for detected "events" has worked well both at and away from home.
You're automatically enrolled for two weeks of the Cam Plus service (for free). This service features more types of event detections, and basically no recording restrictions. (Without a paid subsription tier, the lengths of recordings is limited, and there's also a "cooldown" between recordings.) Once the free trial is over, the subscription price is reasonable. However, the event detection has also been my biggest disappointment with the Wyze video doorbell. Wyze advertises "advanced AI detection," but in my experience, the motion of tree branches on breezy days sets it off very easily. The day after I installed the doorbell, I was receiving dozens of false alarm "motion detection" alerts for a few hours, until I found the "Detection Zone" setting that let me exclude the part of the view with the trees. Since then, it's been much better, but I've still had a few false alarms, where the only motion appears to be from those trees. (Maybe a branch just snuck into the un-excluded area?) I'm hoping Wyze can train its AI to better ignore motion from background trees, but it seems like a common enough scenario that I'm a little surprised the AI detection had such a hair trigger on it in the first place.
Wyze has done a good job with this product, and at a very fair price. The motion detection was a little too touchy out of the box, but the "Detection Zone" feature did help improve that enough that the quantity of alerts is good now. I'm satisfied for now, and optimistic the detection service might improve with time. Overall, I would happily recommend this video doorbell to anyone that already has a wired doorbell and might be looking to upgrade to a camera to get insight as to what goes on day-to-day at their front door.

The Wyze- Doorbell Wired camera is a great addition to any home, however it does have certain flaws ill will write below. The installation is very simple and straight forward, if you have an existing wired doorbell, it is as simple as remove the old and plug in the new (some basic electrical skills needed, contact a professional if help is needed or if you don't know much about electrical). The plug-in chime is very simple literally plug it in to a wall outlet and you are set, also app set up is very simple. Now the parts i did not like: The wedge was too much for my installation and the camera needs to have a better angle (wide angle needed). The other thing I did not like was how easy it would be for someone to steal the camera from you, it laterally has no built-in security or screw to hold it in place, it can literally be popped of the wall with almost no force, unlike other doorbell cameras they have the plate to attach to the wall and then have another screw or screws that will attach the camera to the base and this adds more of a security feature to deter anyone from taking it or at least giving them more trouble to take. This being said camera is good over all but better products do exist. If all you are looking for is a simple not too expensive product this may be the right product for you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Setup: 9/10
Installation was easy, I enjoyed how straightforward installation was on this. Pulled off my old door bell. Wired this one and added the transformer. I believe I had a 12V system prior to install.
The app was super easy to do. Create an account and run with it. Total time for me was about one hour (including app setup) since the transformer is in my attic. Only complaint was the need to get in the attic to do what I needed to do, not required for most installs I suspect and not Wyze's fault.
Quality: 8/10
I received this product with the expectation of this isn't a 4k camera or anything fancy. This camera grabs enough quality from images day or night that you'll be able to identify people and cars (albeit not license plates or any of that jazz). My biggest gripe about the quality of the camera revolves around the night time image quality. In my placement of the device, it appears that the night images can easily be drown out with light and it is not quick to adjust. I'll have to try adding some IR lighting in the yard to allow for better images.
