I have always been a fan of Yamaha stereo products. This one sounds great works great. Do your selfs a favor up date the unit as soon as possible with the software update, then download their APP. I installed it on my iPad Pro this thing is great quickly gets you what you want to do. I use my iPad to select sound coming out 5 channel out put, stereo, theater and so on. I don't have to scroll through them all.

This receiver is easy to set up and sounds wonderful simple to configure with the included mic and provides well balanced 5:1 sound in an odd shaped room. I really enjoy this receiver. Only complaint is that you cannot assign the HDMI to the tv when powering up can only assign the AV ports so need to have the units remote to switch to hdmi or feed audio from a DVR to an AV port if that is your main choice for tv viewing. That's what kept this from getting a fifth star. All in all a well built and great sounding receiver.

Setup was a breeze. Auto calibration is surprisingly adequate for how little time and tuning is needed to get going quick. Sound quality is great. At lower volumes the bass is still present and pleasing, which cannot be said for most of the mid-level receivers in the same pricing tier. This unit is a sleeper and it's a shame it will be discontinued. Musiccast functions well and I like the receiver's ability to stream audio from a dlna media server running on a computer in another part of the house. My tv is only 1080p so I can't vouch for the 4k passthrough abilities.

I replaced my Yamaha 7.1 receiver, that is excellent, so that I could move that to my man cave. I bought this because of it's many input and output sources. It was easy to hook up and access the features. The sound is incredible. I have it matched with my Bose 5.1 surround sound speaker system. Everything I run through it, iPad, Sony Walkman mp3, blue ray disk, phono, etc. sounds great.

Very versatile with plenty of HDMI inputs. Seamless integration with my TV. On-line manual is very inconvenient. Paper manual would be much appreciated. Reasonable price.

The receiver delivers good sounds. It looks slick. It was easy to set up. However a manual CD was provided instead of a manual book. Therefore, It is little incovenient for users to set up the receiver.

Bought this Yamaha to replace a 25+ year old Technics which had served me well. Set up of the Yamaha was easy. Reading the instructions of the various options in the receiver was entertaining and instructive. Sound is excellent as is the interaction with my 4K Samsung tv and 3D dvd player. Based on experience to date, I fully would recommend this receiver.

I got this unit on sale at a great price and couldn't be happier. I did the online purchase with free shipping to my local BestBuy. They kept me informed at each level of the process and the girl at the store was pleasant when I picked it up. The unit has a lot more features than I've ever had on a receiver. The bluetooth feature works like a champ and it never fails! There are plenty of hdmi ports for all my components and an RCA plug for my powered subwoofer. I got everything hooked up in less than 30 minutes and was amazed at how seamless it operates. All in all, a great purchasing experience.

I bought this to replace a Pioneer Elite that was kaput after 6 years and to be used in my home gym. What a great purchase. Setup is incredibly easy, it was found by the Yamaha app instantly and drives 2 pair of Polk bookshelf speakers perfectly for my application. Bluetooth, wifi, networked and controlled from an intuitive app...another win for Yamaha!

I am using this receiver for a home gym, driving a 10" powered sub and 4 Polk bookshelf speakers. The room is setup "budget conscious" by comparison to my primary TV/movie watching location. The receiver works very well for my purposes, only starting to give me a bit of trouble at higher (>-20db) volume setting/range. This was to be expected and given the speakers I am driving with this receiver, I am not sure that they would take much more than what this beast can put out. The connectivity features are great and work flawlessly. I have a 3 year old Yamaha Aventage 2030 that is temperamental when trying to connect via the Yamaha app, but the app always finds this receiver without issue. Nothing bad to say at all...another job well done Yamaha!

I returned a Denon In Command because I was not happy with the receiver. This Yamaha is exactly what I wanted to upgrade to from my 15 year old Onyko.

Was in the market for a new A.V receiver that had built in wireless. I have owned Yamaha receivers in the past and have been very happy with their ease of set up and sound. Best Buy had this receiver on sale for $249.95. I picked one up and had it up and running in 15 mins. Great sound and functionality. Very happy with my purchase.

We needed a new receiver for our tv room. I reviewed many products & chose this Yamaha. Great product that fits our needs. Powerful. So many different modes for tv receiver as well as stereo receiver. Because there are so many modes & choices, it's a bit difficult to program. Still working on learning the different settings. All in all, a great product.

bought this to replace a Sony unit which was essentailly same piece of gear by different manufacturer. First of all, setup was very easy, calibrating the 5.1 surround system was a breeze and the inputs make sense, compared to Sony which was cumbersome and obtuse, and input labeling was not intuitive. The only downside in setup was that pass thru of HDMI signal is poorly explained. Better explanation of signal path would be a major plus, and the only reason for no 5 stars. A nice extra is phase checker for speakers. Basically, once setup, which is easy, functionality and ease of use is superb and far better than my previous unit. Recommended.

Worked great and then it decided to think out side the box. Could not get it to work properly. Only low volume. It would turn off and resort to the speakers in the tv set if the volume was turned up.
