Customers are impressed with the gameplay of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, frequently citing it as an improvement over its predecessor and a bright, fun experience. Many also found the game to be a good value for its price. However, some players found the difficulty, particularly in later stages, to be a significant challenge. The final level's difficulty was a point of contention for some customers.

If the original Yooka-Laylee was an homage to Banjo-Kazooie, this goes ever further back to Donkey Kong Country for snes. The visuals are great, colorful and full of little details and the music, oh the music is so good! I'm not giving 5 stars just because it can be really hard, as it should being a retro platformer, and it's not a game to casually play. You need to invest at least a weekend to sharp up your skills in order to beat it. For the price, I would call this a must buy for this season and a great gift for your contemporary gamers or your "true gamer" uncle.

The is a fun platformer, very similar to Donkey Kong Country games, graphics are nice, and it runs well on the PS4. A bit tougher than I expected though.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one going into it but I was very surprised at how almost every bit of it was well executed. Levels were challenging but fun, music was phenomenal, and exploring the over world was pretty good too.
I wouldn't recommend this to people not up for a bit of a challenge, especially the last level, but if you're up for the challenge, you will be rewarded with good music and a fun time

The fun thing is, you can try to take on the Impossible Lair as many times as you like and each time you die, the game leaves a little marker indicating how far you got. My skills were most definitely not up to the challenge of beating the Impossible Lair without the Beetallion, but I sure had fun trying. I genuinely had a blast with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair and you will too if you have any love for the genre at all. The game was pure fun.

I wasn't a big fan of the first Yooka Laylee game, but the potential was there. The new game, in my opinion is much better and plays really well. I have always been a fan of Mario type games and this one makes good use of the tried and true formula.

Borrows liberally from Donkey Kong Country (both the original trilogy and the rebooted series) and Rayman Origin/Legends, while never quite reaching the heights of either. It's still better than the majority of the 2d platformers coming out of the indie sector.

The idea to go back to 2d from the first game that was 3d was the right move has the game is much better then the first game. The first game i beat but kind of had to force my self to keep playing. This one was on the other hand really good from start to end.

I think this is a much more successful platforming as compared to the first game. The 2D platformer is much more fun to play. The developer seems much more comfortable working in this format as opposed to 3D platformers. Overall gameplay and design is much more polished.

Decent platformer that I'd really give 3.5 stars. Much better than the first outing for Playtonic, in my opinion. Not as good as the Donkey Kong Country games of yore, but far from an unmitigated disaster as the first entry in this franchise was.
The final stage can be challenging for some if not accustomed to playing platformers. I didn't find it that bad, but it certainly is far more difficult than the rest of the game.
