The Sony E-Mount lens system has some great 85mm lenses including the Sony f/1.8, Sony GM f/1.4 and the recent Sigma f/1.4 DG DN lens. I chose this Zeiss Batis (which was on sale at the time), because it uses the same Zeiss “Sonnar” optical formula as my older Sony (Zeiss licensed) 35mm f/2.8 and 55mm f/1.8 lenses- amongst the first full frame lenses they released back in 2013. So it’s nice to have a wide angle, normal, and telephoto focal length set of prime lenses with the same optical characteristics, such as color rendering and bokeh. I think the OLED screen on it is a waste as I don’t look at or use it. I think they could have shaved off some of the cost by dropping the OLED. Other than that, it is lightweight with a nicely designed reversible lens hood. I have found myself using it more than its brethren (especially during the pandemic where it keeps me properly socially distanced when I photograph people).

Love this lens. This lens has (OSS) in it and that is hard to find in any sony prime lens at all and makes a BIG different when hand held. The price is better than a Sony GM 85 and it does not have OSS in it. And the BOKEH is off the cart's on the Batis and it is small in size for what you get.
