Not a perfect fit

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even after adjusting the base about 1/4" forward of what the instructions call for, the microwave door STILL does not open to its full position without binding on the left side of the frame. It is close but not what I would expect after what I had to pay for this kit.

Terrible quality

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just had a top-notch General Contractor install this trim kit around my new Sharp microwave into an existing cabinet which used to hold a Dacor microwave and trim kit. The Sharp trim kit looks like the lazy kid in high school metal shop made it. None of the 45 degree angles met without an 1/8" gap. The vent opening at the top is so large that it sticks beyond the granite counter above. The supposed 30" width of the trim (which is what the oak cabinet is) is closer to 30 1/8", thereby hanging beyond the edges. It is depressingly low quality workmanship. The Dacor had a sleek trim kit with all edges mitered perfectly. Even though the Dacor was added after-the-fact of the kitchen remodel all the dimensions synched well with the cabinets. This Sharp trim kit is pug ugly. My contractor (who spent 90 minutes installing it) said it was the most complicated trim kit he had ever worked with in 40 years.

Looks beautiful, but expensive

- A:Answer Hello, the SMD2470ASY does not use a trim kit. The only optional accessory for this unit is the flush mount deflector vent kit.

- A:Answer This is a tricky question! It's tricky because after I purchased a trim kit that appeared as if it would work, was wrong! What you need to do TO GET THE CORRECT ONE is look up the microwave that you actually have, from there look for the trim kit that will work with THAT microwave along with the width of the cabinet you want it in. It's much easier starting with your microwave going forward, rather than starting with the trim kit. Thank goodness Best Buy was very understanding that I ordered the wrong trim kit and allowed me to exchange for the correct one.

Q: Questionwe need a new trim kit for new microwave as prior trim kit doesn't quite fit new microwave- the prior trim kit included a pan (model #RK51S30) which doesn't seem to be included or available- are these no longer made or needed

Q: QuestionWhy is it not necessary to have the grill feature on this trim kit? Our last microwave which was also built in had a grill trim around it. Is the grill feature not necessary for air circulation?

- A:Answer Hello, this trim kit is of the smooth finish as we are no longer manufacturing those with the grill finish. While the grill finish also allowed ventilation, the Trim kit itself allows ventilation on the inside.

Q: QuestionWe have the SCM2242DS model. Am not sure what the difference is between the 27 v 30 inch cutout? We need a trim kit that is 30 inch wide. Our sharp model is 24 wide and we need 3 inches of trim on either side to match stove under.
