Synopsis
It's often said that the true character of a man is only revealed in times of dire crisis, and for likable, lovelorn loser Shaun (Simon Pegg), that moment of reckoning came when the dead rose from their slumber to feast on the flesh of the living. A hapless electronics store employee who spends most of his spare time downing pints at the local pub with his roommate, Ed (Nick Frost), Shaun's life seems to fall apart when he is dumped by his girlfriend, Liz (Kate Ashfield), and his obnoxious stepfather, Philip (Bill Nighy), shows up to berate him for not being more attentive to his caring mother Barbara (Penelope Wilton) -- especially since he forgot to send flowers for her birthday. Things take a turn for the worse when the dead return to stake their claim on the Earth, and though the chaos that follows threatens to swallow up all of England, it's up to Shaun to keep his cool and prove himself once and for all by successfully rescuing Liz and his mother. Awesome movie
May 18, 2009This movie is one of the funniest movies of all time. The whole thing is funny from start to finish and their are several laugh out loud moments. Another thing that I liked about this movie was the camera work. Their are some scenes where one shot will last almost 2 minutes. This is a very impressive movie. The funniest British movie ever.

Finally a good comedy horror
December 14, 2008After all ridiculous parody movies this one makes good honest fun of all the horror zombie movies that flooded our cinemas. I was rolling on the floor. But don't get the wrong idea, it's still kinda horror, not for kids. There were some disturbing moments. But if you enjoy a GOOD parody, this might be right for you

Disappointed
October 18, 2017While I absolutely adore this movie, my first steelbook purchases were the Universal Monster ones. Granted, perhaps I'm spoiled with the great collages used on the insides, but I expected this one to be similar since Universal also unleashed this waste of metal and plastic onto collectors. The menus are the exact same sidebar to the left as every other release. Definitely got for $5 if you need to add the film to your collection, but don't expect it to be as beautiful as the Alex Ross releases.

Horror and comedy, a great mix
October 16, 2017This movie is very, very funny. The writing is smart, and includes "inside" references to any number of horror/scifi movies. The main character and his buddy are reminiscent of Earl and his brother, Randy, from "My Name is Earl", but this movie takes the time to occasionally get serious, especially towards the end.
