What is an under cabinet recirculating range hood?

An under cabinet recirculating range hood is a kitchen ventilation appliance designed to be mounted beneath a cabinet above your stovetop. Unlike ducted models, it filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen instead of venting it outside.

How does a recirculating range hood work?

A recirculating range hood uses built-in filters to capture grease, smoke, and odors from cooking. The filtered air is then released back into the kitchen, helping to keep the environment cleaner and fresher.

What type of filters do under cabinet recirculating range hoods use?

Most under cabinet recirculating range hoods use a combination of grease filters and charcoal filters. The grease filter traps oil and food particles, while the charcoal filter helps remove odors from the air.

Can I install an under cabinet recirculating range hood myself?

Many under cabinet recirculating range hoods are designed for straightforward installation and come with detailed instructions. However, if you are not comfortable with electrical work or mounting appliances, it is recommended to consult a professional installer.

How often should I replace the filters in my recirculating range hood?

It's generally recommended to clean or replace the grease filter every one to three months, depending on usage. Charcoal filters should typically be replaced every six months to maintain optimal performance.
