Bowers & Wilkins STAV 24 S2 stands are a great match for a variety of bookshelf speakers, including our 607 and 606 speakers. Twin metal vertical columns can be filled with sand to for additional mass loading which provides additional support and helps dampen vibration and imporove bass.
Q: Would these hold the 705 S2?
A: They will, but there is no mechanism to secure the speakers to the top of the stands. We recommend you use a dime sized patch of Blu Tac in each of the four corners on the top the stands and then place the speaker on top.
Q: Do the holes on the top of this stand line up with the screw mounts of the B&W 707 S2?
A: They do not. That said, you can use a small blob of blu-tac on the top of the STAV-24 and press the 707S2 onto the top. Works beautifully and provides a very tight connection.
Q: what are the dimensions of the top plate on these stands?
A: Width 7". Depth 8"
A: B&W advised me to use any adhesive putty product. I used Elmer's Tac 'N Stik and it works fine. I put four 1" pieces under each speaker and pressed the speaker down. It adheres well enough without bonding it permanently.
Q: What is the height of the stand from the floor to the top of the stand where the speaker will rest.
A: The stand height is 24 inches.
Q: Can you run power cords through these stands to hide the power cord?
A: While that is not a feature of these stands, you can "hide" cabling by using black tie wraps to secure cables to the back of the stands.
Q: will these stands work with b&w 805 d3
A: Will they work? Yes. Ideal? No. The dedicated stand for the 805D3 (FS805Stand) has a top plate that is large enough to support the entire speaker while the top plate of the STAV24 is much smaller and better suited to something like the 606 or 607 loudspeaker. Additionally, there is no way to secure the 805D3 to the STAV24 outside of using blutac. Overall, this solution will be less secure than using the FS805D3 stand.
A: Hello - it is really down to what is most convenient for the use you will have for the stands.
