    It looked used.

I don't understand why an expensive appliance like a clothes dryer does NOT come with its own power cord. Why is it that they make you buy that separately? That's like buying a car with no steering wheel. You're unable to drive it off the lot unless you purchase the steering wheel separately. Makes no sense. It's not a big deal, but it looked like they put a used power cord inside the packaging because ours had some blemishes on it. As many washers and dryers as they swap out with their delivery service, I wouldn't be surprised if this cord came off a used similar unit. However, the cord works well and was not very difficult to install. I purchased a matching Samsung washer/dryer with steam that were both outlet items. What really bothered me was the fact that only the washer was available to ship to my home for delivery and installation. The dryer, on the other hand, had to be shipped to the store for me to pick up, which also makes absolutely NO sense. Some of us don't own pickup trucks so I had to pay someone to help me pick it up, but I digress. When they delivered and installed the washer, I was told that you can't use your old dryer cord or it voids the warranty. So, they delivered and installed the washer, but left it to me to pick up and install the dryer myself.

The cord was only 5' so it was of no use to us.

It says 6' on this receipt but the installers only have 5' cords. Since we were stacking this, as was apparent from the purchase of the stacking kit, one would have thought that the installers would have been supplied a long enough cord. I ended up having to go to Orchard Supply Hardware to pick up one myself, install it and plug it in. Further, since we wanted to turn the unit, I had to order a 10' cord from Meyer Appliance. I would suggest that Best Buy make sure they supply their installers with at least the 6' cord and also make available the 10' cord. My wife said the lady on the phone suggested we "simply have the plug moved" which would require not just an electrician but someone to pull more wires since our plug is of the 3 wire variety and if one were to touch it, it would have to be updated to 4 wire. Clearly not a simple nor cheap solution.

It's a fine quality cord but the Best Buy installer put it on wrong. The electrical connections were correct, but the metal clamp fastener, an important safety feature because it keeps the connections from ripping out of the unit and exposing a live wire. The installer screwed one screw all the way in, and so the other wouldn't engage, so he left it that way. You have to start off each screw and then screw each of them in a few turns until they are both tight. Anyone with a basic understanding should know how to do this, which makes me wonder about the training the installers receive. They were very nice and professional people, but you need to check their work...

    It's a Cord: What Can I Say?

If you're hooking up your electric dryer, chances are you'll need a 220 volt cord. This one works, just make sure the cord you buy matches the style of outlet in your laundry room -- all 220 outlets are not created equal. The cord quality is good, sturdy as befits a 220 volt appliance. It is indispensible for hooking up the dryer, so the $5 a foot pricetag is probably worth it. If you're doing your own hook up, consider salvaging the old cord off you previous dryer and save yourself $30. If you want Best Buy's people to hook it up, you'll have to buy a new cord with your appliance. Your call.

Little did I know that not all Dryer cords are not all the same. I purchased this dryer cord and plug and when I got it home it was clear that I would need an electrician to rewire the dryer outlet. I instead used the cord removed from the old dryer and installed it on the Samsung dryer (which came with no electrical cord). The dryer worked and continues to work fine. Beware and check to be certain before you buy what kind of dryer plug you have before spending wasted time getting the wrong one.

It is disappointing to find out how many extra parts are needed after purchasing the washer and dryer. I did not know which dryer plug would be needed (theres one that has 3 prongs and 1 that has 4). Had to exchange it to get the right one but it was very easy to install as they made the wires color coded.

It's a power cord, and it works. What more do you want? Used it on a Whirlpool Cabrio dryer. Only had a couple minor issues. I could not get the retaining clip to fit in the hole on the dryer, so went without it. And the orientation of the wires is completely unclear. Either that means it can be installed either direction, or I guessed correctly, because it worked and I didn't get electrocuted.

Ordered this cable along with my new LG dryer since I was moving to a new place and didn't have an old cable to use. Best Buy employee added the 3 prong cable to my purchase but when we got in the house we found out it was 4 prong. Upon delivery the guys that unloaded and installed the washer, dryer and fridge immediately swapped it out for a 4 prong at no charge and promptly installed it. Cable looks to be of good quality and does not get hot while in use.
