Needed a lightweight bag to carry my work laptop and occasionally my power brick. My old leather bag would rub and stain my pants, so I was looking for something nylon or canvas. The leather was also too heavy, especially with my hefty laptop. Found this Solo bag in store and it really fit the bill: big enough for my 15.6", lightweight, enough compartments for accessories, and not a generic-looking black bag. I really like the "business suit-grey" color; great for my professional job. My negative (and minus 1/2 star) would be the inconsistent quality. My bag had a few minor stitching issues, but I looked through 10-15 bags in the store to find one that looked near perfect (as a designer, I notice all the little details). Some of the faults I found were poor stitching around the zipper, shoulder strap, & handle, crooked placement of the reinforcement/protective material, and even the logo was not aligned well. Yes, these are all minor (except for the stitching), so if you're not AR about things like that, ignore that and get this bag. Even with the issues, I would still recommend this bag. So far, despite the cosmetic issues, the bag has performed well out in the field. The other minus 1/2 star is that there is no side padding for the computer compartment...so be careful not to bang your bag on doors, walls, etc. Overall, a great light bag but would've been better with extra padding for the computer (as well as the handle, which there is none, ugh) and better quality stitching. Lucky to get it at a good sale price to make up for its shortcomings.
Pro: lightweight, roomy & not bulky, subtle style, separate compartments for brick/tablet/accessories.
Con: stitching varies from bag to bag (some good, some miss); thin padding for computer, no padding on handle, would've liked a water bottle compartment and key holder.
Meh: converts from briefcase to messenger bag to backpack. Not sure if I'll ever use backpack mode, so the fact you can't remove those straps is a bummer, but not a deal breaker. Guess it may serve useful someday.
Verdict: good buy!
