Questions & Answers (50)
  • Q: How does the new Sonoos Era 100 compare with the Amazon Echo Studio? (3 answers)

A: Hello! I have both the Sonos and Echo devices. I can tell you that the sound is far better on the Sonos, but the Echo also does a great job. The Era 100 is not designed to be compatible with new audio formats such as Dolby Atmos or Spatial Audio, while the Echo has three mid-range speakers (left, right, and up), one forward tweeter, and one 5.25" woofer, and the Sonos has a more refined bass. At high volumes, you can notice a little bit of all the artifacts to control distortion on the Sonos, whereas the Echo is more bass-heavy but not unpleasant and is more suitable for urban rhythms. Personal recommendation: go for the Sonos and make it a pair.
  • Q: These or the One SL for surrounds to go with my Arc and sub combo? Thanks (2 answers)

A: I was in the same boat and decided to go with the Era 100 after doing some research. Fiorst they sound great as surround speakers ithe the arc and sub. Second, they are the latest model and personally I think they sound better than the One SL. Hope this helps.
  • Q: What is the battery life or run time when playing / using the speaker wireless? (3 answers)

A: These speakers steam music wirelessly (via wifi). However, they require plug into the wall for power. If you're looking for a portable solution, you'll want to look at Sonos Move, or Sonos Roam.
  • Q: Is it still suggested to have two of these to go with beam for surround sound? (2 answers)

A: For the “best” of the BEST home theater experience?? Yes!! Get 2 of these! Move the Sonos SL you have to another room and stream there. I’ll move m 2 SL Ones to our home office and put a pair of the ERA 100’s in the living room. So far, I’ve heard the bass response nearly eliminates need for the Sub Mini, but I’m tempted!!
  • Q: What is the difference between era 100 speaker and the play 1? (2 answers)

A: Here's a breakdown of the key differences between the Sonos Era 100 and Sonos Play:1 speakers: Sonos Era 100 Newer Model: The Era 100 is a newer generation of Sonos speaker, designed as a more capable successor to the Play:1. Upward-Firing Speaker: Includes an additional upward-firing mid-woofer for a wider soundstage and more immersive audio experience, especially with Dolby Atmos content. More Powerful Bass: Features a larger woofer for more robust bass response. Bluetooth Support: The Era 100 adds Bluetooth connectivity for direct streaming from your devices. Line-In: The Era 100 has a line-in connection for directly plugging in an audio source like a turntable. USB-C Port: Instead of the older micro-USB, the Era 100 utilizes a modern USB-C port. Trueplay Tuning: Automatic room-tuning technology for optimal sound based on your room's acoustics. Sonos Play:1 Older and More Affordable: The Play:1 has been around longer and is generally a more budget-friendly option compared to the Era 100. Smaller, Simpler Design: The Play:1 is more compact and features a simpler design. No Upward-Firing Speaker: Lacks the dedicated upward-firing speaker for a less immersive Dolby Atmos experience. No Bluetooth or Line-In: The Play:1 relies solely on Wi-Fi for connectivity. Which One to Choose Improved Sound and Features: If you want the best possible sound quality, added features like Bluetooth and line-in, and Dolby Atmos support, the Sonos Era 100 is the superior choice. Budget-Friendly Option: If you have a tighter budget and don't require all the extra features, the Sonos Play:1 is still a capable speaker that offers the core Sonos experience.

    Quality Sonos

Sonos is the king of audio. These speakers are an excellent alternative to the pricey Era 300s. I purchased these as a pair to use as surrounds for my Sonos Arc. They are heavier than one would expect, on the larger side, and produce crisp audio as surrounds. Be aware that if you're to wall mount these - they do not have an upward firing speaker to produce the Atmos effect and are meant to be placed directly behind your seating space at eye level. As mentioned before, they are bulky so please use caution when wall mounting. The speakers have touch controls on the top of the speaker as well as sliding motions for volume control. Although, when connected to the Arc, all volume control is with your television remote. The speakers can be controlled within the Sonos app as well. The only cons I have for these is the setup process. The Sonos app is great and works well but is a bit finicky with setup. Once you have set them up, you'll never need to worry about it again. I have had no issues with disconnects but be aware that if you are to use these as individual speakers for music persay, you will need to unpair them as surrounds and repair the speaker in the Sonos app again. Meaning that you'll have to go through the finicky setup process all over again.

    Power in a small package

Whenever I go to this one shop they have a couple speakers linked together and the sound always was crisp with the right level of bass, beautiful sound quality. I’m actually a bose fan, but, the sound that comes out of this speaker is fantastic. Had to get at least one, for now…

    Nice trio

I was looking for a single speaker to replace my Amazon Echo I had fro many years. Couldn't decide on the Echo Studio or a Era 100, so I bought both to try out at the same time. To me you can't compare the two. Echo Studio is more powerful IMO. But the Era is good in it's own right. SO I kept both the Echo Studio and Era 100. The Echo Studio is on my workout room. I ended up buying another Sonos Era 100 and the Sonos Sub-mini. The three are a beautiful combination of sound. The clarity of the Era 100's is awesome. I love treble and the 100's deliver. Classical music sounds elegant. The sub-mini definitely packs a punch. Very happy with it.
