Essential Add-On for the A7000 Surround Experience
|Posted .Sony's new HT-A7000 soundbar is great on its own, but virtual surround features on any soundbar will never be as convincing or immersive as dedicated rear speakers. Sony's RS3S wireless rear speakers are a seamless extension of the A7000 and truly provide a complete surround sound experience. === SETUP AND CONFIGURATION (5 Stars) === Both rear speakers connect wirelessly to the A7000, so all you need to do is plug them into a power outlet. There are holes on the back of each speaker that can be used for wall mounting. Additionally, the speakers have a threaded hole that can be used for mounting these on speaker stands. Even though the A7000 is sold separately, the rear speakers pair instantly and automatically with the soundbar. All I had to do was turn on the soundbar, then plug in the rear speakers to power, and wait for the lights on the front to turn green. Within about 5 seconds, the speakers were paired with the soundbar and I was ready to go. If you have trouble connecting the speakers automatically, you can attempt a manual connection through the settings menu (Home > Setup > Advanced Settings > Speaker Settings > Wireless Speaker Settings > Start Manual Linking). Once paried, the speakers turn on and off with the soundbar. A solid red light on the front indicates that a speaker is off ("standby mode"). A solid green light means that it is on and connected to your soundbar. Once successfully paired, I recommend running the "sound field optimization" wizard again from the settings menu. === DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY (4.5 Stars) === These speakers have a minimalist design that blend in seamlessly with the look of the A7000 soundbar. When placed upright, the speakers are about 7.5 inches tall. I placed them directly on the tables situated on both sides of my living room couch. The sides of the speakers are textured, but they don't feel as soft or premium as the SW5 subwoofer. The mesh on the front of the speakers matches that of the A7000. The power cords attach to the speakers at an angle which makes for awkward cable management. === SOUND QUALITY (5 Stars) === If you want a true surround sound experience from your A7000 soundbar, these RS3S rear speakers are an essential add-on. Before pairing these speakers, I watched several minutes of Godzilla vs. Kong and Mad Max: Fury Road using just the A7000 soundbar. It was certainly impressive and the A7000's virtualization features are top-notch. But after I added the RS3S speakers, I was truly amazed. My first thought was: "THIS is how these movies are supposed to sound." Paired with the side-beam and upward-firing drivers on the A7000, the resulting sound is one of the most thrilling home theater experiences I've had. Sony does not appear to offer any type of EQ or sound customization settings in the A7000 menus, but that's fine with me. I appreciate the simple nature of this sytem and it sounds great right out of the box. True audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts will likely want to look at a more customizable system, but average users will be thrilled with the A7000 paired with the RS3S rear speakers. === OVERALL === Coming from Sony's previous soundbar (HT-ST5000), these are the speakers I wish I could have added to my system years ago. It's a shame that these aren't compatible with older Sony soundbar models, but I'm very glad that Sony has introduced them for its latest soundbar lineup. If you are an avid movie watcher, you will absolutely want to add these rear speakers to your new Sony soundbar setup. Highly recommended!

Great! You need these!!!
|Posted .I have these setup with the Sony HT A5000 soundbar. These are in my opinion even more important to get than the wireless subwoofers. You will truly be immersed, and without wires. Keep in mind each rear channel, left and right, will need to be plugged into the wall outlet. Adding it into the speaker system set on the HT A5000 is easy. As soon as you turn on the soundbar it will see them, and you can calibrate it with the soundbar setup, but even if you do, you can change the sound level. I personally think you should set them much higher. In my case, after changing it to a higher level, it was awesome! I tried a few Dolby Atmos surround shows, and with my PlayStation 5 played Resident Evil Village quite extensively! Talk about being scared of stuff being behind you!!! These are pretty small speakers, and hide well in a living room! We have ours on a side table by our sofa, on either side. If you want true surround sound, like action movies or shows, you really need to get these with your A5000 soundbar!

Immerses You in Your Movies and Music
|Posted .These small speakers are very nice. The setup process is a breeze, and they add some great depth and detail to your surround sound setup. The sound is crisp, and they really help in making you feel that things are zipping around you. You can adjust their volume and using the Sound Field Optimization setup also makes it really easy to calibrate each speaker to the soundbar. I didn’t need to adjust delay, everything just worked. The setup process was incredibly simple, just like the subwoofer. Plug in the power cables and the soundbar finds it and links to them automatically. You don’t need to run a wizard. The soundbar just connects to it automatically and sets them up. I was able to instantly enjoy the enhanced surround sound with minutes of unboxing them. This is an overall easy recommendation to anyone who has their eye on the HT-7000 soundbar. I love the entire setup and glad I didn’t go with a traditional HT setup. It’s a great setup for movies and music.

Excellent paired with Sony HT-A5000 soundbar
|Posted .The surround speakers are well worth the additional cost. They are powerful and really open up the room to sound. Setup is simple. Plug in and the system runs a sound test and calibrates everything for you. The sound is clear and loud. Works exceptionally well with optimized movies on Disney+ and Amazon. I tried the different sound options expecting to enjoy Dolby the most but in my living room the default Sony surround engine sounded the best. They are a simple to mount and have a high end appearance. I would definitely recommend these if you want the full immersive experience.

A Great Addition to the Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar
|Posted .The Sony SA-RS3S is Sony's latest flagship wireless surround speakers for the HT-A7000 soundbar or HT-A9 4-speaker set. These wireless speakers come with 1 power cord (each) and paperwork. They come with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. Rather than go over ALL the specs which you can already find on this Bestbuy.com page, I'll try to give more observations of those specs instead. DISCLAIMER: I have all 3 components for the complete surround experience: 1) HT-A7000 7.1.2ch Soundbar 2) SA-SW5 300W Subwoofer 3) SA-RS3S Wireless Rear Speakers for the HT-A7000 (Review for this product) PROS: ----------- * Like the Sony SA-SW5 subwoofer, pairing up with the A7000 soundbar was super easy when done with the initial setup. * I watched 2 online movies in 4K - The Tomorrow War (Amazon) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (HBO Max). Both featured surround sound and both impressed with immersion experience. I felt like I was in the middle of the action (with the sub and wireless speakers setup included). The use of these speakers brought me even further into the action as I felt as though missiles were flying by, helicopters were behind me, people were yelling all around me, etc. The experience was incredible as far as putting me IN the movie. They provide a total of 100W of output from the 2-way drivers. * The speakers are easily mountable by using either the slotted hole (like a keyhole - see my pictures) with a screw in an anchor in the wall OR by using a tripod or other mounting apparatus using a 1/4" bolt mount. They can also be simply placed as they are without mounting. CONS: ----------- * It can only be used with specific "other" Sony products. It can't be used as standalone wireless speakers for a regular amplifier system. * There are no mounting screws/anchors for the basic hanging method using the slotted hole. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * When the main soundbar is turned off, these wireless speakers are automatically turned off as well. * When the speakers are ON, the LED on the front bottom of the units turns GREEN. When the units are OFF, they turn RED. * These speakers are wireless, but keep in mind that wherever you mount these, you will still need an AC plug for power for them to work. * The front grills are not removable. * When pairing up with the soundbar, the wireless speakers did take a firmware update with no issues. CONCLUSION: ===================== I highly recommend that you add these wireless speakers to your HT-A7000 soundbar system but only after you buy one of the subwoofers as well. The surround speakers really complete the surround experience; however, I wouldn't have these before getting the subwoofer. Having all 3 items will complete your soundbar system in an incredible and immersive way. The soundbar creates left, right, and above sounds... but these surround speakers take it behind you and even more-so around you. You will notice a difference when added for sure. I highly recommend them with the HT-A7000. Great job, Sony. (I did reviews for the other 2 products in this line as well if you enjoyed this review.)

A must for a complete home theater system
|Posted .Have a Sony wireless soundbar like the HTA5000? Then these wireless rear speakers will make your home theater system complete. I would recommend adding a subwoofer before rear speakers if you do not already have one. These speakers are designed to be easy to setup and they were. I just plugged them in and the soundbar linked right to them without any assistance from me. Nice!! Build quality looks and feels outstanding to me. The power cord to them plugs in the back at a right angle and the back of the speaker has little legs to keep it flat when mounted to a wall while leaving room for the power cord. There’s also a threaded fitting on the back for mounting to an arm or other type of mount. Has rubber feet on the bottom for bookshelf or table. They have an LED at the bottom that’s red in standby and green when in use / connected. See photos. Sound wise they are very clean and clear. How loud they get depends on the soundbar’s settings and what kind of media you’re consuming. With an old movie with a stereo soundtrack, don’t expect anything unless sound field is on. Play a newer movie with multi-channel soundtrack and they will come to life. Just how much depends on your soundbar’s surround settings. Same with music. Be sure and run the Sound Field setup after you get them set where you plan to keep them and linked up. Each speaker has a tweeter and small woofer and are rated up to 50 watts. I looked at the specs on Sony’s site and that is all they say. 50 watts. No specs like “20hz to 20khz +- 3dB” or “50 watts RMS at 1% THD” for frequency response and distortion respectively. Considering their auxiliary function, I don’t think it matters that much and I would bet that they are close enough to those specs for the price and being a Sony product. Only once did I have a problem with the radio link to them. I simple rerun the speaker setup and that fixed it. No more cutting in and out. Highly Recommended.
