For main differences in specifications with these AV Receiver models, the STR-AZ5000ES and STR-AZ7000ES comes with a 5-year limited manufacturer's warranty, detachable power cord, and an RS232C port port for custom installations/integrations. The STR-AZ5000ES gets you a slight bump up in power to 120 watts per channel with 11 channels built-in. The STR-AZ7000ES also bumps up the power to 120 watts per channel and has 13 powered channels you can configure in a variety of ways. The two additional channels can be front wides or a third pair of height speakers. This thing is a beast.
This is replacing my Denon x3600. This is a big unit and it definitely packs a punch. The bass is much more meaty but also refined. Everything just sounds better and the proprietary 360 spatial sound has to be experienced.

ES @ 10stars (sony for life with audio)
APP is basic could be better but not necessary (web 10.144.1.200 has full setup including remote = easier to use IP vs remote) ____ (used with a90k and ubpm800) _____1st and last AVR (SONY ES For life) ES AVR alone is 5x better for BT (CURRENT soundsrd sounds better without the need for a subwoofer due to DSEE = not intended design but perfect) ____ also setup as a 2.0.2 with Core speakers/atmos (planning @ sony SA-RS5 & SA-SW5 = FULL 4.1.4 SETUP) = core speakers alone sound crystal clear but will require a subwoofer

Great receiver!
So far pretty darn good receiver. Sounds great. Looks great. And it’s only missing pre puts. But if you don’t need it. It’s perfect. Take your time setting up the sound to the room and you should be very happy as well. It was the least expensive for the features and sound quality you can get that also can bi-amp my front speakers and still have atmos height for my fronts as well. Love it.
