Speck - Presidio SPORT Case for Apple® iPhone® 7 Plus and 8 Plus - Black/Slate

I'll echo the other reviews left for this product. I don't know what it is about this particular color, but something failed in the manufacturing and quality control process. I have the exact same case in red and I absolutely love it! It fits perfectly, functions perfectly, protects, looks great, and feels great too! So when I saw this grey/blue color was on sale, I bought it thinking I'd have two identical fantastic cases in different colors. I was so wrong. With the grey case, the power button just doesn't line up. I'm not sure whether it's off on the X or Y axis, but the case's power button does not make proper contact with the phone's power button. Instead, the case permanently depresses the phone's power button, leading to a power loop. If you can manage to disengage the case from pressing against the power button, fantastic... except you now have no way of pressing the phone's power button because the case's power button still does not make functional contact. I've tried the "squeeze the case around the phone" suggestion that Speck recommends in their replies to customer reviews on their website. All that did was cause my phone to enter S.O.S. mode! No matter what I did, I simply could not get this case to function the same as the allegedly-identical red version I have. Because it was a great deal and because I loved the color, I emailed Speck customer service before returning the product to Best Buy to see if they would send a replacement. A week went by, and no response. I then took to social media to reach out to them... again, no response. Speck clearly knows the product is a dud and would prefer I just return it to the store, I guess. So that's what I did. BBY accepted the return, no problems. I hate leaving 1- or 5-star reviews as I believe it dilutes the reliability of the rating average, but in this situation, I had no choice. The color is great, the material is fantastic, but I couldn't rate this product anything above a 1-star because it could not perform its core function as a case without disabling access to the power button. The fact that Speck customer service completely failed is just anecdotal and didn't affect the rating of the product.

I've only had this case a couple days, so my rating does not yet consider it's drop protection. I work in the marine industry and have pretty specific things I look for in a case, until now I haven't found a case to replace my Commuter, my go to case for a long time but my one gripe is though awesome grip in the hand and great surface grip on the front, laid down on its back it's like a wet bar of soap. Saw a review of the Presidio Sport and ordered. LOVE it. Perfect for my use and needs far as I can tell so far. Feel in the hand is awesome and all-around great surface grip, plenty of lip, and love all the port protection, including individual speaker hole cutouts. I have NONE of the button issues many have encountered, buttons are super tactile and responsive no issue at all. I'd say an early rollout issue Speck will get more consistent with, I would highly recommend if you get a defected case have Speck replace this is just an awesome case when it's "right." My lightning port cover is very snug and bit of a chore to open like some have complained, but I get it open fine and not enough of an issue to me to knock a star. I'm sure it will break in a little over time and use. The true test will be in real use. I try to be careful, but the proverbial excrement happens sometimes, in the last year my phone has taken at least half a dozen HARD 6-8 ft. drops from the back of a boat on a trailer onto concrete, and other places around work where it sets on something that gets knocked into and flung around hard, and my Commuter and Zagg glass always saves the day. Eventually, this is going to take a hard drop and will update when I find out how it takes a hit. I'm pretty confident it will give similar protection as the Commuter. And the hi-vis Coast Guard red color is a nice bonus (they call it Poppy red, but this is exactly the same as Coast Guard red). Hope this helps.

i bought this case because i love the speck brand. had a nice feel to it and it was a great looking case. im sure the it would protect the phone just like any other speck case that ive gotten. only thing was that the power button wouldnt work. it looks like the tab inside just didnt align with the power button on my iphone 7 plus. it was either too long or it just wasnt on top of the button. i couldnt get a response when trying to press the button lightly. when i press it hard, it would be like pressing on it to where you want to shut the phone off. but if i press a little towards the front of the button, then it would work. the other buttons worked fine. just not the power button. too bad because that case looks and feels great, but just that darn power button ruined it.

Good case for the iPhone This case is easy to put onto your iPhone and it is not the slippery type while you’re holding your phone if your hand is wet or sweaty it doesn’t slide out of your hand I’ve used numerous types that when I drop Dave cracked or did slide out of my hand where this type of case is made very solid if you want to keep your iPhone from being shipped or scratched this is a pretty good caseworker this case is easy to put on to your iPhone it is not the slippery tight while you’re holding your phone if your hand is wet sweaty it doesn’t slide out of your hand I’ve use numerous types that when I drop Dave cracked or did slide out of my hand where this type of case is made very solid if you want to keep your iPhone from being shipped or scratched this is a pretty good case

I was excited to see it was on sale on BF. Like the feel of the case and the red color also stand out. The down fall...once I received the case I noticed the bottom charger door/entry (don't know the proper term) was difficult to open when you close it. You would need to have long nails or put some power to it. And the main issue I will be returning the item...the POWER BUTTON. I didn't read the comments before purchasing at the store, but the POWER BUTTON is an issue. It's not align with the Iphone 8 plus power button. I'm not sure what's the situation for Iphone 7 plus, but I would not recommend the product unless you are fine without using the power button.

This is the first Speck case that I have purchased and I think it's one of the best looking slim cases available. I really like the feel of the case and I think it offers good protection without being to bulky. I added a Zagg InvisibleShield for added screen protection as usual. As others have mentioned, I've found that there is a slight issue with the power button alignment. Mine works but it's more of a touch than a press for screen lock. I believe it's because the case was designed for the 7 Plus and the 8 Plus is slightly larger, making the case tighter? Either way, it's not a huge issue for me since the button will function. The volume buttons and mute/un-mute dial work perfectly. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase!

I bought the red speck when I got my iPhone 8 Plus. It was working great until the material tore at the bottom where you charge so I had to replace the case because the tear was causing the case to be me loose and unstable. I got this one since it was the exact same style as the red one. It gets dirty and gritty feeling on the backside of the phone very quickly. Also, I dropped it once and my screen over bubbled up and cracked. Thankfully I have a Zagg glass protector with a warranty and they are going to send me a new one for free. I don’t recommend this case. I plan on getting something lose when my new screen protector comes in. Pretty disappointed in this brand.

The case of great for overall protection but I gave it a three star for a number of reasons. There’s an annoying knob on the left to turn your ringer on and off. When you’re trying to set your phone up it really gets in the way. Also there’s a cover to protect your charging port and it’s kind of difficult to open each time you have to charge your phone. There’s barely a grip and doesn’t open as wide. Overall I would not recommend this case.I purchased it during Black Friday so the price wasn’t terrible. Would it pay full price for this.
