Definitive Collection of Spider Man movies
|Posted .Owned for 6 months when reviewed. What can I say. These are some of the best Spider-man movies ever made. You get the original Raimi trilogy and the Webb reboots. All 4K and look beautiful! In addition, you get digital versions of all. The trilogy was 4K versions but the Amazing versions came as 1080P digital only - at least that is the way the one digital app did it. Sound came through beautifully as well. The steelbooks included are beautiful. One for each universe of movies and are well worth it for collectors. I am sure most know all about these movies but the Raimi films chronicle Toby Maguire as Peter Parker from High School through becoming a staff photographer at the Daily Bugle, the death of his Uncle Ben and his up and down relationships with Mary Jane and Harry Osborne. Excellent villains between Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and eventually Sandman and Venom. The Webb series chronicle Garfield's Peter Parker as he deals with the disappearance of his parents and trying to find out the mystery of their research. A strong relationship with Gwen Stacy develops and Spidey has to match wits against The Lizard and eventually a slew of villains in the sequel. Where Toby's focused on his relationship with his friends and living up to his Uncle's mantra of "Great power comes great responsibility," Garfield's focuses on building confidence in himself and then later dealing with the self-imposed responsibility of protecting Gwen. I will give kudos to Jamie Foxx's Electro as well as Giamati's Rhino and DeHann as Harry Osborne. I personally would have loved to see where the series could have gone. Anyone who may need a little break from Tony Stark's apprentice or may want to reminiscence about Spider-man before the Marvel deal, check these 4K HDR versions out! Stay Frosty!

tough choice to 4k or not to 4k
|Posted .so, Last summer I got a great deal on the blu ray version of this steelbook not realizing 4k was releasing shortly after. LUCKILY, I was blessed with a ton of Best Buy store credit to burn so I bought the 4K steelbook also. Now I can't speak to 4k vs 1080p, whether the upgrade is worth it for these 5 movies (though I will say that overall, imo, 1080p is excellent quality and I rarely see major improvement in 4k therefore I will not be re-purchasing ALL my blu rays in 4k) I CAN, however, speak the digital copies and steelbook artwork which is 90% what sold me on this set. The digital copies WILL show up in your VUDU /Fandangonow / itunes as 4K UHD quality but you need to redeem original trilogy at the Sony pictures redeem site, and the Amazing set, redeem at movies anywhere to get 4K UHD. The art is AWESOME! 2 steel book cases, matte finish with very detailed comic art depictions of the 2 Spidey franchises each case featuring Costumed Spidey in action with all the villains from each respective series. MY dilemma was choosing which art I liked better...4K steelbook OR 1080 blu ray steelbook?? Sony really hit the marketing on this one because BOTH sets have AMAZING art. In contrast with the 4K steelbook detailed intricate comic art, the 1080 blu ray steelbooks take a minimalist, sleek, gloss finish with metallic hues. Spidey is featured as the lone focus, highlighting the great design of both the Tobey Maguire suit and Andrew Garfield suit. behind spidey on both steelbooks sprawls a blue/red spider logo with metallic hues on a white background. My original plan was to keep the 4K steelbooks and sell the 1080p steelbooks. But when I saw how beautiful the art was on both, and how different they were I wanted to keep BOTH sets. Luckily I have a friend who is just as much a steelbook, comic book fan as I, and he compromised with me and bought 1 of each of the artwork. So I have the 4K discs, but I have a mixed set of Steel books, one steelbook the 4K with the detailed comic art from the Toby series and another steelbook, the minimalist action shot of Andrew Garfield Spidey suit. I couldn't be happier with my best of both worlds steelbook set. As for the rest of the steelbook collectors, I wish you luck with making this decision. I would Google both artworks first, and in the end, just choose the one that you love the most. Or if you can afford it just get both of them LOL. Why must you take our money Sony?... on the bright side, it's well less than $20 per movie for 4K, and less than $10 per movie for regular Blu-ray. So on a per movie basis, these are very good values. Also of note, the only discs that are 4K in the 4K set are the actual feature films. All special features are 1080p discs identical in both sets. Another benefit of either the 1080P or 4K steelbook set, is that both come in a glossy plastic protective box that displays the set nicely while protecting it. Just make sure when you purchase that the box is in good shape. Some of them are pretty beat up.

A spectacular collection
|Posted .The 2 series come in 2 different steel case books. Both look amazing. It comes with the 5 movies and bonus discs. They look great. My only issue is the way the discs are inside. There's only 2 slots so the discs are stacked on top of each other. It's a hassle to change movies because it feels like you might break them. Wish the layout was something similar to the back to the future set.

Near perfection for a Spiderman collection
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have been skeptical of most Spiderman "collections" due to lack of content, having no reason to upgrade over standard editions (other than fancy casing), quality of production, etc. Doubt no more - This is the nearly perfected edition, and the one that I will keep in my collection for years to come! Packaging: This includes two beautiful steelbook cases, both in pop-art style, with tasteful illustrations. These are kept together in one plastic box, which is admittedly a weak point, as it has no easy-access opening on the side, and a flimsy top that seems more in the way than useful. If the steelbooks had separate labels on the spine, I would ditch the plastic casing in order to just have the two steelbooks. Picture & Sound: The quality of the blu-rays is beyond question, providing the highest fidelity picture and audio that have ever been offered for either the earlier set (Tobey Maguire, early 2000s), or even for the newer "Amazing Spiderman" reboot (Andrew Garfield, 2010s). The 4K/UHD presentations with the latest audio, in the form of both DTS-HD Master, as well as full Dolby Atmos tracks, are phenomenal! For both effects and soundtrack, the musical work of Elfman, Horner, and Zimmer are showcased beautifully. The one real disclaimer is that while the resolution was expanded to 4K/Ultra Hi-Def, HDR is not fully baked-in, so you will have to force your TV into providing its own HDR estimation or effect, but I had no issues with my LG E6OLED - It looked spectacular even with true HDR10/DolbyVision in the equation. For comparison, these stood up quite well, compared to the more recent Homecoming title, with Tom Holland, although that featured UHD picture with HDR, but similar sound quality. Picture is very good, but it was obviously not natively produced that way, as many effects will show, but it has never been shown better. Extras: This set includes not only the 5 total films (in both UHD, and regular blu-ray), but the added features of the options for the spiderman-3 director's cut, the 2.1 feature, and two full discs of extras. For those who still care about 3D, like me, those discs are not included, but it was not hard to fit my existing Amazing Spiderman 1 & 2 3D blu-rays into the mix. These can generally be found quite cheaply, if you care to add them. Conclusion: This is the Spiderman set that I've been waiting for since the original releases, and I'm so glad that I waited for what feels like an almost perfect tribute to the well loved series in my family. Despite minor casing issues (Stupid plastic box, no labels on steelbook spines), the fact that these weren't originally produced in 4K (but they do hold up quite well with the quality conversion), this is the premiere set to own, if you're truly a fan. The jump in sound quality alone was astounding, even without a full Atmos-equipped home theatre. Keep in mind that it's not perfect - but it's as close as I have ever seen.

Worth the Upgrade if you are a fan
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis review is on the 4k package, not the movies themselves. If you are a fan of these films you already own either the dvds or the blurays. This package gives you all Spiderman films except Homecoming in 4K. Sony did a great job with the 4k transfer... I believe all 5 films used a 4k digital intermediate and the results are a clear upgrade from the blurays. Of course you need a few things for the upgrade to be worth it..... 1) a 4k tv 2) a 4k bluray player 3) your 4k tv really ought to be HDR compatible because the HDR is the majority of the improvement in 4k films...most 4k tvs in the past few years do process hdr 4) an eye for video quality. If that sounds like you, and you are a Spiderman fan, then you will appreciate the upgrade to 4k on these discs.

Best Spiderman movies
|Posted .Owned for 4 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThe first two movies in the Sam Raimi trilogy are fantastic! They look great in 4k. The rest are okay, but the first two are worth the price alone. The steelbooks like great.
