The 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 (Model A065) is the “G2” 2nd-generation successor to the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A056), a lens that won astounding acclaim from the marketplace and has been enjoyed by users around the world. The new model has been updated with TAMRON’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) and the optical design has been completely reworked from the ground up to attain uncompromising optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. In addition, the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) AF system faithfully fulfils the intentions of the photographer to a high degree of precision in steps of 0.005mm, less than one-tenth the width of a human hair to further enhance the tracking performance of moving objects such as vehicles and sports action, ensuring you never miss decisive scenes whether shooting still images or video. Also, the quietness offered by the linear motor system provides nearly silent performance when using the lens in conditions where noise needs to be minimized.

Great Lense

Light and tack sharp
I have several Tamron lenses and this is probably one of the best. Nice range of 70-108 mm and is tack sharp all the way through. You also have the added benefit of f2.8 to add great speed to the lens. I have used it to photograph indoor sports as well as outdoors wildlife with excellent results in both areas. For price and performance it would be hard to find a better deal on a great lens.

Great zoom lens.
Absolutely love this lens and the fact that it’s so much lighter than the sigma. It’s great for traveling and feels very natural in hand. And I would spring the extra dollars and get this one with VC in it. Makes a difference!!
